This is a list of villains from the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. For other, related lists, see below.
Helen A, seen in The Happiness Patrol (1988), is the ruler of a human colony on Terra Alpha. She was intended to be a caricature of then British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. In 2010, Sylvester McCoy told the Sunday Times: "Our feeling was that Margaret Thatcher was far more terrifying than any monster the Doctor had encountered."
The Abzorbaloff is a monster designed by nine-year-old William Grantham of Colchester, Essex for a "Design a Doctor Who Monster" competition held by Blue Peter.
The competition was announced in July 2005, and received 43,920 entries. These were judged by Blue Peter editor Richard Marson, presenter Gethin Jones, Doctor Who producer Russell T Davies and Tenth Doctor David Tennant. The first prize for the competition was to have the monster appear in an episode of Doctor Who. Tennant announced the winner on Blue Peter on 17 August 2005. Conditions of the competition meant that the monster had to be able to be made from prosthetics and not require CGI.
The Creative Circle (also known as The Advertising Creative Circle and The Advertising Creative Circle of Great Britain) is an educational awards body dedicated to creativity in British advertising, and the oldest advertising and marketing awards body in Europe. Their mission is to help promote creative excellence in advertising, while sharing knowledge and experience through educational programs and supporting young creative people. The annual Creative Circle awards are highly regarded, and judged by the British advertising creative community themselves. Their main offices are in Covent Garden, London.
After many months of preliminary discussions, the Advertising Creative Circle of Great Britain was founded on 8 October 1945, at a luncheon at The Trocadero Hotel, London. The concept can be traced back to two forward-thinking ad men, H.F. Crowther (Director of Advertising Agency Rumble, Crowther & Nicholas) and G.R. Pope (Advertising Manager of The Times).
At the time, Crowther and Pope felt there was no other advertising organisation concerned exclusively with the craft of visualising, writing and designing advertising, and so decided to create an Advertising Creative Circle that could "not only provide a forum for such creative men, but [also] contribute to raising the status of advertising as a profession".
Best or The Best may refer to:
This is a list of categories of awards commonly awarded through organizations that bestow film awards, including those presented by various film, festivals, and people's awards.
A "Best Adapted Screenplay" award is generally issued for the best achievement in transferring a written work from another genre, such as a novel or comic book, in whole or in part, to a feature film.
Charles "Buddy" Montgomery (January 30, 1930, Indianapolis, Indiana – May 14, 2009) was an American jazz vibraphonist and pianist. He was the younger brother of Wes and Monk Montgomery. He and brother Monk formed The Mastersounds in the late 1950s and produced ten recordings. When The Mastersounds disbanded, Monk and Buddy joined their brother Wes on a number of Montgomery Brothers recordings, which were arranged by Buddy. They toured together in 1968, and it was in the middle of that tour that Wes died. Buddy continued to compose, arrange, perform, produce, teach and record, producing nine recordings as a leader.
Buddy first played professionally in 1948; in 1949 he played with Big Joe Turner and soon afterwards with Slide Hampton. After a period in the Army, where he had his own quartet, he joined The Mastersounds as a vibraphonist with his brother Monk, pianist Richie Crabtree and drummer Benny Barth in 1957. He led the "Montgomery-Johnson Quintet" with saxophonist Alonzo "Pookie" Johnson from 1955 to 1957. His earliest sessions as a leader are from the late 1950s. He played briefly with Miles Davis in 1960. After Wes Montgomery’s death in 1968, Buddy became active as a jazz educator and advocate. He founded organizations in Milwaukee, where he lived from 1969 to 1982; and Oakland, California, where he lived for most of the 1980s, that offered jazz classes and presented free concerts.

The senator has hired a couple of bodyguards to protect him the the 'black-hand' woman, and takes them to eat at a café. She poses as a waitress and gets the picture. She is offered the job but her boyfriend, Jimmie, says he will have to get another girl to be his wife, and she turns down the job.

Plot: The city editor was really a human being, not one of those cold heartless machines which some writers like to talk about. His staff was enthusiastically loyal to him and every member of it sympathized when it seemed that his star was in danger of an eclipse. The editor had printed a story which met with the disapproval of the city's political boss, who revenged himself by giving news "beats" to the rival sheets. The managing editor realized what the trouble was, and determined to sacrifice his hard working assistant. However, he gave him one week's grace, but made it clear that at the end of the time if he was still on the outs with the boss he must seek another job. The paper had one girl reporter, and contrary to precedent, the city editor admired her. Womanlike she understood the situation, but knew that there would be no romance in her life, not even a proposal, if the city editor was discharged. Therefore, she hated the boss, oh, how she hated him. Out on an assignment one day the girl happened to pass a cheap lodging house and was surprised when the boss came out, and went down the street. She saw the tenant who had been talking with him, and recognized him as one of the traction company's lobbyists. Being a bright newspaper woman she was convinced that something was wrong, and that perhaps she might have a chance to checkmate her enemy. On the impulse of the moment she applied for accommodations and succeeded in securing the room immediately adjoining that of the lobbyist. A day or two later the lobbyist and the boss were closing up "a business transaction," which necessitated the passing of real money. The door of the next room opened, the men were blinded by a flashlight and the girl rushed away with a photograph which meant ruin for the grafters. The city's editor did not lose his job. Neither did he "make up with the boss," as he had been ordered to do. There was no necessity, for the boss went to the penitentiary and was unable to attend the wedding of the city editor and the girl reporter, even had he cared to do so.

For the past ten years, I’ve been editing professionally. Yet one question always stumps me: “How do you know when to cut?” And I can only answer that it’s very instinctual. On some level, I’m just thinking and feeling my way through the edit. So today, I’d like to describe that process: how does an editor think and feel? The Reality Editor is a new kind of tool for empowering you to connect and manipulate the functionality of physical objects. Just point the camera of your smartphone at an object and its invisible capabilities will become visible for you to edit. Drag a virtual line from one object to another and create a new relationship between these objects. With this simplicity, you are able to master the entire scope of connected objects. The Reality Editor is a result of three years of MIT research. The goal of our research is the creation of technology that grants the user maximum control by leveraging human strength such as spatial coordination, muscle memory and tool-making. For example, that light switch in your bedroom you always need to stand up in order to turn off—just point the Reality Edi...
What is it that the video editor actually does? Their hard work and attention to detail can go unnoticed because, more often than not, it doesn't seek to draw attention to itself. So on behalf of those self-effacing weavers of magic, grafting in darkened rooms for many more hours than is healthy for a human being, we made this video. Paddy Bird of Inside The Edit, and I wanted to try to find the most imaginative, informative, thought-provoking way we knew how to promote his revolutionary new video editing course. With award winning* sound design by James Locke-Hart. We have been blown away by the reception to The Editor. After just two weeks on the Inside The Edit website, the video had received over two hundred thousand views. We are immensely grateful for all the kind words of encou...

Thousand times I lived before were just in my dreams
Well, I woke up to realize it didn't mean a thing
I've seen several better places, several better times
Somehow those memories got left behind
Give me back that year, good or bad
Give me back something that I, never knew I had
I guess it all boils down to it was just a second guess
So God damn long ago it's hard to feel I did my best
And I think of our relationship and all is just in task
And why I can't see that anymore in your eyes
Give me back that year, good or bad
Give me back something that I, never knew I had
Well, I sit and watch it go by
Well, I sit and watch shit go by
Go by
