Payne, 30, was advised of the Racing Analytical Services Limited's findings and stood down from riding in races and trackwork by stewards on June 23.
Payne has been requested to attend the inquiry on Thursday which will be conducted at 11am at the Racing Victoria headquarters in Flemington.
If found guilty, the standard ban for testing positive to a suppressant like this is believed to be about one or two months.
Fairfax Media has attempted to contact Payne for comment.Â
Just last week Payne met the Queen during a four-day riding stint at Royal Ascot.
She was meant to travel to England last year but a serious fall at Mildura when riding for her brother led to her being hospitalised for nearly a month.
Payne won the 2015 Melbourne Cup on Prince off Penzance for trainer Darren Weir.Â
