Peremptory plea
In the common law, the peremptory pleas (pleas in bar) are pleas that set out special reasons for which a trial cannot go ahead. They are the plea of autrefois convict, the plea of autrefois acquit, and the plea of pardon.
A plea of autrefois convict (Law French for "previously convicted") is one in which the defendant claims to have been previously convicted of the same offence and that he or she therefore cannot be tried for it again. A plea of autrefois convict can be combined with a plea of not guilty.
Related doctrines include res judicata and, in the criminal context, a plea in bar of double jeopardy. In the plea of pardon, the defendant claims that he or she has been pardoned for the offence and therefore cannot be tried for it.

Pardon (ceremony)
A Pardon is a typically Breton form of pilgrimage and one of the most traditional demonstrations of popular Catholicism in Brittany. Of very ancient origin, probably dating back to the conversion of the country by the Celtic monks, it is comparable to the parades associated with Saint Patrick's Day in Ireland or New York.
A Pardon is a penitential ceremony. A Pardon occurs on the feast of the patron saint of a church or chapel, at which an indulgence is granted. Hence use of the word "Pardon". Pardons only occur in the traditionally Breton language speaking Western part of Brittany. They do not extend farther east than Guingamp.
Types
The faithful go on a pilgrimage either to the tomb of a saint or a place dedicated to a saint. The locations may be associated with miraculous appearances, as in Querrien, or holy relics.
The Pardons begin in March and end in October, but the majority of them are between Easter and Michaelmas. Traditionally pilgrims wore their best costumes, each diocese and parish having a distinctive style, and otherwise only worn at weddings. However, traditional Breton costume is now not typically worn, except at the Locronan Pardon, in honour of Saint Ronan. Penitents travel as a group in parishes, fraternities or other corporate bodies, bringing banners, crosses and other insignia in procession, each group competing with the others for grandeur. The leader of the Pardon, typically a high ranking ecclesiastic, has the title of "pardonnor". If relics are involved, he will normally carry them during part of the procession. For most of the pilgrimage, however, this honour falls to those who were considered to be worthiest of it by the various social groups represented.

Hip hop skit
A hip hop skit is a form of sketch comedy that appears on a hip hop album or mixtape, and is usually written and performed by the artists themselves. Skits can appear on albums or mixtapes as individual tracks, or at the beginning or end of a song. Some skits are part of concept albums and contribute to an album's concept. Skits also occasionally appear on albums of other genres.
The hip-hop skit was more or less pioneered by De La Soul and their producer Prince Paul who incorporated many skits on their 1989 debut album 3 Feet High and Rising.
The Hip Hop Skit although dominant throughout the 90s and the early 2000s began to be phased out in the later half of the 2000s and the early 2010s. Reasons for this include the popularity of MP3 as well as the invention of the iPod Shuffle, which could only play tracks in a random order.
Writing for The AV Club, Evan Rytlewski opined that skits may have originally been in vogue because an expanded tracklisting would look more appealing to would be buyers, although he noted that their first inclusion on a De La Soul record was most likely just them being "eccentric".

Tsarnaev Associate Matanov to Change Plea to Guilty
The United States Department of Justice confirms that Khairullozhon Matanov, accused of lying about having contact with suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev after the Boston Marathon bombings, will change his plea from not guilty.

With jury selection underway and the start of the Boston Marathon bombing trial looming, the U.S. Attorney's Office confirms a friend of accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is planning to change his plea to guilty.
Khairullozhon Matanov, a cab driver from Quincy, Massachusetts, who had dinner with the Tsarnaev brothers the night of the bombings, is charged with obstructing the investigation by destroying evidence and lying to investigators.
Dozens of Prospective Tsarnaev Jurors Excused
NECN legal analyst and Massachusetts School of Law Associate Dean Michael Coyne says it’s unlikely Matanov has just had a sudden change of heart.
"I think it's more likely that they have worked out some form of arrangement where his testimony will in fact be offered by the government and in return he may receive less of a sentence than he would otherwise because of his cooperation," said Coyne.
Bombing Suspects' Friend in Court Over Media Leaks
Meanwhile, the government and Tsarnaev's defense team have agreed to excuse 124 prospective jurors "for cause" out of the first two jury pools of roughly 450 people.
"I thought we would actually have more disqualified at this point," said Coyne. "I think it bodes well for eventually being able to impanel a jury that will be able to hear this case somewhat impartially."
But Coyne says that doesn't mean the next phase, where jurors are questioned individually, will be any easier.
"The likelihood is there's a bunch of people in this next group who are probably likely going to be disqualified but the attorneys are now trying to save their actual challenges for the ones that they really need further down the road," said Coyne.
Attorneys will exclude more jurors on Tuesday and Wednesday, then begin voir dire – or the individual questions – on Thursday.
Each side gets 20 peremptory challenges where they can excuse jurors without having to give a reason.

Today, we're going to look at North Carolina v. Alford, 400 U.S. 25 (1970), a case of a (kinda) guilty plea, known now as an Alford Plea. In it, Alford stated he had not committed the crime, but that he acknowledged the State had a boat load of evidence and could pretty much show he had. In desiring to avoid the death penalty, he pled to a lesser included offense. It's a case that goes through what a guilty plea is, should be, and could be. When entering a guilty plea, should defendants have to admit their guilt, or only want the whole thing to be over? Or somewhere in between?

Tsarnaev Associate Matanov to Change Plea to Guilty
The United States Department of Justice confirms that Khairullozhon Matanov, accused of lying about having contact with suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev after the Boston Marathon bombings, will change his plea from not guilty.

With jury selection underway and the start of the Boston Marathon bombing trial looming, the U.S. Attorney's Office confirms a friend of accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is planning to change his plea to guilty.
Khairullozhon Matanov, a cab driver from Quincy, Massachusetts, who had dinner with the Tsarnaev brothers the night of the bombings, is charged with obstructing the investigation by destroying evidence and lying to investigators.
Dozens of Prospective Tsarnaev Jurors Excused
NECN legal analyst and Massachusetts School of Law Associate Dean Michael Coyne says it’s unlikely Matanov has just had a sudden change of heart.
"I think it's more likely that they have worked out some form of arrangement where his testimony will in fact be offered by the government and in return he may receive less of a sentence than he would otherwise because of his cooperation," said Coyne.
Bombing Suspects' Friend in Court Over Media Leaks
Meanwhile, the government and Tsarnaev's defense team have agreed to excuse 124 prospective jurors "for cause" out of the first two jury pools of roughly 450 people.
"I thought we would actually have more disqualified at this point," said Coyne. "I think it bodes well for eventually being able to impanel a jury that will be able to hear this case somewhat impartially."
But Coyne says that doesn't mean the next phase, where jurors are questioned individually, will be any easier.
"The likelihood is there's a bunch of people in this next group who are probably likely going to be disqualified but the attorneys are now trying to save their actual challenges for the ones that they really need further down the road," said Coyne.
Attorneys will exclude more jurors on Tuesday and Wednesday, then begin voir dire – or the individual questions – on Thursday.
Each side gets 20 peremptory challenges where they can excuse jurors without having to give a reason.

Peremptory plea
In the common law, the peremptory pleas (pleas in bar) are pleas that set out special reasons for which a trial cannot go ahead. They are the plea of autrefois convict, the plea of autrefois acquit, and the plea of pardon.
A plea of autrefois convict (Law French for "previously convicted") is one in which the defendant claims to have been previously convicted of the same offence and that he or she therefore cannot be tried for it again. A plea of autrefois convict can be combined with a plea of not guilty.
Related doctrines include res judicata and, in the criminal context, a plea in bar of double jeopardy. In the plea of pardon, the defendant claims that he or she has been pardoned for the offence and therefore cannot be tried for it.
