Reason number 1: Image quality. The Canon T2i has outstanding image quality for a camera in its price range. For roughly $200 used, you’re getting a camera that absolutely destroys even the best phone cameras. Forget about 4K, the tiny sensor on your phone’s camera means it won’t produce an image even close to the one on the aging T2i. This camera is capable of capturing a very respectable amount of dynamic range, and on the whole will look much more realistic than your phone camera. Additionally, Canon’s color science is second to none, so you shouldn’t have any problems in terms of pulling accurate colors out of the camera.
Reason number 2: Manual controls.
Reason number 3: Lens selection. When it comes to digital cameras now a days, Canon hands down has the widest selection of lenses for their EF mount cameras. Cameras with other mounts like micro four thirds for example, often need to rely on adapters in order to use certain types of lenses. You can snag a Canon 50MM F 1.8 lens for only $125 with autofocus. Most other lens systems just don’t offer such great choices at such a low price. When comparing to your phone which has 1 fixed lens, the creative possibilities are endless. When you buy a Canon T2i you achieve compatibility with the widest selection of lenses in the world.
Reason number 4: Canon Skin tones. I briefly touched on this earlier in the video, but now I’ll go a bit more in depth. Canon cameras are famous for their ability to capture a scene with extremely accurate color. While it’s true you can pick up and old Sony for about the same price, which may have better specs on papers it won’t have nearly as nice color. Canon cameras are known for producing very accurate skin tones, which are very true to life when compared to other cameras from Panasonic or Sony. And, if you happen to be coming from your phone, the difference should be extremely obvious.
Reason number 5: The Price. The last, and most important reason you should consider purchasing a used Canon T2i is that unbeatable price. $200 bucks is absolute steal for a camera of this caliber, and will take your smartphone level films to a whole new level. I spent years filming my videos on webcams and smartphones; constantly disappointed with the quality of my works. Back then, I always assumed you had to spend at least $1000 dollars to get a decent camera and I never had that kind of money to blow. Fortunately over the summer, I found that on eBay you can get older cameras (which are still very good) for a tiny fraction of their retail price.

Canon EOS 550D
The Canon EOS 550D is an 18.0 megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera, announced by Canon on 8 February 2010. It was made available starting 24 February 2010 and to US dealers starting early March. It is known as the EOS Kiss X4 in Japan, and as the EOS Rebel T2i in the Americas. It is part of Canon's entry/mid-level digital SLR camera series, and was placed by Canon as the successor model to the EOS 500D. It was superseded by the EOS 600D (Kiss X5/Rebel T3i), but remained in Canon's lineup until being discontinued in June 2012 with the announcement of the EOS 650D (Kiss X6i/Rebel T4i).

Canon EOS
Canon EOS (Electro-Optical System) is an autofocus single-lens reflex camera (SLR) camera series produced by Canon Inc.. Introduced in 1987 with the Canon EOS 650, all EOS cameras used 35 mm film until October 1996 when the EOS IX was released using the new and short-lived APS (Advantix/IX) film. In 2000, the D30 was announced, as the first digital SLR designed and produced entirely by Canon. Since 2005, all newly announced EOS cameras have used digital image sensors rather than film. The EOS line is still in production as Canon's current digital SLR (DSLR) range, and, with the 2012 introduction of the Canon EOS M, Canon's mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera (MILC) system.
The acronym "EOS" was chosen for Eos, the Titan goddess of the dawn in Greek mythology, and is often pronounced as a word (UK /ˈiː.ɒs/ or US /ˈiː.ɑːs/), although some spell out the letters, reading it as an initialism.
It competes primarily with the Nikon F series and its successors, as well as autofocus SLR systems from Olympus Corporation, Pentax, Sony/Minolta, and Panasonic/Leica. In 2010, Canon held 44.5% market share in DSLRs.

My second test of my brand new Canon EOS 550D. The first clips are raw-footage captured in 1920x1080 25f, auto ISO with a Canon 50mm USM f1.4 lens. I captured this clips before I found out that it was possible to adjust the ISO-level manually. I was so happy when I found it out :) The last clips are also shot with the 550D, but adjusted dramatically in a software called "Color". Hope you enjoy the video. Reason number 1: Image quality. The Canon T2i has outstanding image quality for a camera in its price range. For roughly $200 used, you’re getting a camera that absolutely destroys even the best phone cameras. Forget about 4K, the tiny sensor on your phone’s camera means it won’t produce an image even close to the one on the aging T2i. This camera is capable of capturing a very respectable amount of dynamic range, and on the whole will look much more realistic than your phone camera. Additionally, Canon’s color science is second to none, so you shouldn’t have any problems in terms of pulling accurate colors out of the camera.
Reason number 2: Manual controls.
Reason number 3: Lens selection. When it comes to digital cameras now a days, Canon hands down has the widest selection of lenses for their EF mount cameras. Cameras with other mounts like micro four thirds for example, often need to rely on adapters in order to use certain types of lenses. You can snag a Canon 50MM F 1.8 lens for only $125 with autofocus. Most other lens systems just don’t offer such great choices at such a low price. When comparing to your phone which has 1 fixed lens, the creative possibilities are endless. When you buy a Canon T2i you achieve compatibility with the widest selection of lenses in the world.
Reason number 4: Canon Skin tones. I briefly touched on this earlier in the video, but now I’ll go a bit more in depth. Canon cameras are famous for their ability to capture a scene with extremely accurate color. While it’s true you can pick up and old Sony for about the same price, which may have better specs on papers it won’t have nearly as nice color. Canon cameras are known for producing very accurate skin tones, which are very true to life when compared to other cameras from Panasonic or Sony. And, if you happen to be coming from your phone, the difference should be extremely obvious.
Reason number 5: The Price. The last, and most important reason you should consider purchasing a used Canon T2i is that unbeatable price. $200 bucks is absolute steal for a camera of this caliber, and will take your smartphone level films to a whole new level. I spent years filming my videos on webcams and smartphones; constantly disappointed with the quality of my works. Back then, I always assumed you had to spend at least $1000 dollars to get a decent camera and I never had that kind of money to blow. Fortunately over the summer, I found that on eBay you can get older cameras (which are still very good) for a tiny fraction of their retail price.

Reason number 1: Image quality. The Canon T2i has outstanding image quality for a camera in its price range. For roughly $200 used, you’re getting a camera that absolutely destroys even the best phone cameras. Forget about 4K, the tiny sensor on your phone’s camera means it won’t produce an image even close to the one on the aging T2i. This camera is capable of capturing a very respectable amount of dynamic range, and on the whole will look much more realistic than your phone camera. Additionally, Canon’s color science is second to none, so you shouldn’t have any problems in terms of pulling accurate colors out of the camera.
Reason number 2: Manual controls.
Reason number 3: Lens selection. When it comes to digital cameras now a days, Canon hands down has the widest selection of lenses for their EF mount cameras. Cameras with other mounts like micro four thirds for example, often need to rely on adapters in order to use certain types of lenses. You can snag a Canon 50MM F 1.8 lens for only $125 with autofocus. Most other lens systems just don’t offer such great choices at such a low price. When comparing to your phone which has 1 fixed lens, the creative possibilities are endless. When you buy a Canon T2i you achieve compatibility with the widest selection of lenses in the world.
Reason number 4: Canon Skin tones. I briefly touched on this earlier in the video, but now I’ll go a bit more in depth. Canon cameras are famous for their ability to capture a scene with extremely accurate color. While it’s true you can pick up and old Sony for about the same price, which may have better specs on papers it won’t have nearly as nice color. Canon cameras are known for producing very accurate skin tones, which are very true to life when compared to other cameras from Panasonic or Sony. And, if you happen to be coming from your phone, the difference should be extremely obvious.
Reason number 5: The Price. The last, and most important reason you should consider purchasing a used Canon T2i is that unbeatable price. $200 bucks is absolute steal for a camera of this caliber, and will take your smartphone level films to a whole new level. I spent years filming my videos on webcams and smartphones; constantly disappointed with the quality of my works. Back then, I always assumed you had to spend at least $1000 dollars to get a decent camera and I never had that kind of money to blow. Fortunately over the summer, I found that on eBay you can get older cameras (which are still very good) for a tiny fraction of their retail price.

My second test of my brand new Canon EOS 550D. The first clips are raw-footage captured in 1920x1080 25f, auto ISO with a Canon 50mm USM f1.4 lens. I captured this clips before I found out that it was possible to adjust the ISO-level manually. I was so happy when I found it out :)
The last clips are also shot with the 550D, but adjusted dramatically in a software called "Color".

Testing out the video on my new Canon Rebel T2i/EOS 550D DSLR. All the shots were taken with the EFS 18-135mm IS lens at various ISO and manual focus.

All shots are 1920x1080 30fps except for the slow motion shots which were taken at 1280x720 60fps. Some shots were with manual ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Others were with automatic settings.

Introduction to the Canon EOS Rebel GII (Video 1 of 2)
Canon rebadged the EOS Rebel G as the EOS Rebel GII changing only the color and name. The GII, released as a downmarket camera, served to bring people from the point-and-shoot (PNS) market into the single-lens reflect (SLR) camera market. SLR cameras provide greater creative control and usability than PNS cameras, and they also sell lenses, which is great for camera companies. The GII has all the features of a higher-end camera, a great meter, and is very light. But the build quality suffers from an abundance of plastic (including the mount) and a penta-mirror system instead of a pentaprism system. Canon rebadged the EOS Rebel G as the EOS Rebel GII changing only the color and name. The GII, released as a downmarket camera, served to bring people from the point-and-shoot (PNS) market into the single-lens reflect (SLR) camera market. SLR cameras provide greater creative control and usability than PNS cameras, and they also sell lenses, which is great for camera companies.
The GII has all the features of a higher-end camera, a great meter, and is very light. But the build quality suffers from an abundance of plastic (including the mount) and a penta-mirror system instead of a pentaprism system. Though lighter, this reduces the light reading the viewfinder.

If you’ve ever watched a live stream and wondered “how did they get their video to look so good?”, it’s probably because that video wasn’t shot using a smartphone; it’s likely that video was produced using consumer or prosumer-grade equipment (e.g. the Canon 600D/T3i). This procedure shows you how to hook up your Canon EOS DSLR camera to your computer for Facebook live streaming using free software.
*IMPORTANT*
For those of you with OS 10.11.6 El Capitan, I was not able to get the EOS Utility installed and running on my MacBook Pro. Other users have reported they were able to get it working. I’ll post a video where I troubleshoot the issue and show the point of failure during installation. (coming soon)
