A flag is a piece of fabric (most often rectangular or quadrilateral) with a distinctive design that is used as a symbol, as a signaling device, or as decoration. The term flag is also used to refer to the graphic design employed, and flags have since evolved into a general tool for rudimentary signalling and identification, especially in environments where communication is similarly challenging (such as the maritime environment where semaphore is used). National flags are potent patriotic symbols with varied wide-ranging interpretations, often including strong military associations due to their original and ongoing military uses. Flags are also used in messaging, advertising, or for other decorative purposes. The study of flags is known as vexillology, from the Latin word vexillum, meaning flag or banner.
Due to the use of flags by military units, "flag" is also used as the name of some military units. A flag (Arabic: لواء) is equivalent to a brigade in Arab countries, and in Spain, a flag (Spanish: bandera) is a battalion-equivalent in the Spanish Legion.
Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share. The organization has released several copyright-licenses known as Creative Commons licenses free of charge to the public. These licenses allow creators to communicate which rights they reserve, and which rights they waive for the benefit of recipients or other creators. An easy-to-understand one-page explanation of rights, with associated visual symbols, explains the specifics of each Creative Commons license. Creative Commons licenses do not replace copyright, but are based upon it. They replace individual negotiations for specific rights between copyright owner (licensor) and licensee, which are necessary under an "all rights reserved" copyright management, with a "some rights reserved" management employing standardized licenses for re-use cases where no commercial compensation is sought by the copyright owner. The result is an agile, low-overhead and low-cost copyright-management regime, profiting both copyright owners and licensees. Wikipedia uses one of these licenses.
Wikimedia Commons (or simply Commons) is an online repository of free-use images, sound, and other media files. It is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation.
Files from Wikimedia Commons can be used across all Wikimedia projects in all languages, including Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikivoyage, Wikispecies, Wikisource, and Wikinews, or downloaded for offsite use. The repository contains over 30 million media files. In July 2013, the number of edits on Commons reached 100,000,000.
The project was proposed by Erik Möller in March 2004 and launched on September 7, 2004. A key motivation behind the setup of a central repository was the desire to reduce duplication of effort across the Wikimedia projects and languages, as the same file had to be uploaded to many different wikis separately before Commons was created.
Several sister projects (e.g. Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Spanish, Basque, Polish, Czech and Slovak Wikipedias) moved all their media content to Commons and stopped allowing local uploading. Some projects, such as the English Wikipedia, have more compliant copyright policy and allow to upload and keep files which are not acceptable at Commons, e.g. fair use images.

Many states have separate civil and state versions of their flags; the state flags (listed) include the state arms, while the civil versions don't. See Flags of German states.

They face challenges at sea and also at home. They lose some of their shipmates in action and some of their loved ones in the devastation that is the blitz. Throughout it all, the men of the Torrin serve valiantly and heroically.

News and entertainment have become one in a synthesized and dialectical approach to the seductive. There is a subliminally sexual subtext to commercial TV; so too is the case with the U.S. flag—the importance of what it represents becomes diminished when it is plastered to any article of consumption for the sake of profit. By painting the flag on 13 nude bodies, I tried to elevate the importance of the flag. The flag was painted on 13 models that varied in shapes, ethnicity, and gender—in order to reflect changes in diversity, acceptance and tolerance since the colonization of this nation. The videos show sensuality, sexuality, discomfort and comfort. The work offers a chance to discuss and contemplate how far we want to go with the use of the flag and to share feelings about the commercia...

To learn more or comment please visit our blog at: http://www.lightsfilmschool.com/blog/ Flags are pieces of black duvetyne held together by metal frames. Flags are generally held up by c-stands in an effort to cut or shape light and provide "negative fill". It's important to mention that when using c-stands you should first position your flag exactly as you want it with the c-stand joints loose. Then when your flag is ready, tighten the c-stand joints in order to secure the precise position of the flag. This will not only help you precisely establish where your shadows will fall, but it will also save you a lot of time during your setup. Many independent filmmakers rather than using black fabric flags and c-stands, will instead use tripods, clamps and black foam core. A large piece of...
Music video for Something in the water off of Flags due out October 12.
Sell everything that you once owned,
On the internet, and move out of home.
Get an education or start paying rent.
You soon forget what those songs meant.
So here is your youth, packed into boxes.
Which ideals were yours?
Which were the fashionable choices?
Here’s you opinions
and the lives you led.
I remember the conversations.
Every word we said.
These shirts were monuments to the places we had been,
They’re stacked like folded flags, reminders of who you
used to be.
We all drift from scene to scene,
you forget the words, like you forget me.
Move to the city,Get a good job.
Maybe live somewhere pretty,
maybe you’ll find god!
So here’s your “new life”. the new things you own.
Here’s your new friends,
forget the ones back home.
Look back on those years
and the times we spent
and remember the conversation.
and the words we said.
These shirts were monuments to the places we had been,
They’re stacked like folded flags, reminders of who you
used to be.
And you said “aren’t we a generation, whose songs all
have been sung?”
We’re still here and I can’t hear you over the ringing
in my ears.
“aren’t we a generation, whose songs all have been
sung?”
We’re still here and I can’t hear you over the ringing
in my ears.
Remember the past to keep my feet on the ground.
Remember the songs and I still sing them loud.
Remember the shows and all that we went through.
I remember the past and I’ll remember you.
And you said “aren’t we a generation, whose songs all
have been sung?”
We’re still here and I can’t hear you over the ringing
in my ears.
“aren’t we a generation, whose songs all have been
sung?”
We’re still here and I can’t hear you over the ringing
