Martin has claimed in several interviews and in his autobiography, "Born Standing Up" that he used to take 33 rpm bluegrass records and slow them down to 16 rpm and tune his banjo down, so the notes would sound the same. The Drake Hotel in Chicago (1920). It was designed by Marshall & Fox for the Drake brothers, who also owned the Blackstone Hotel. The building was an early home for WGN radio. Frank "The Enforcer" Nitti, the head of the Chicago Outfit after Al Capone, operated out of a suite of rooms. As one of the finest hotels in Chicago, it hosted many famous guests, including Princess Diana, Winston Churchill, and Frank Sinatra.
