Our eight-day trek in the Annapurna region, starting in Pokhara and culminating at Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,600m). Mardi Himal Trek is a newly opened trekking trail in Annapurna conservation area. For long time it was only accessible for expedition groups with their own tents and catering team. Even though it was officially opened in 2012 for regular teahouse trek, there are only few basic teahouses (lodges) for accommodation. These teahouses make it possible to trek all the way to Mardi Himal base camp at 4,500 m.

The trek is diverse and with vibrant rhododendron forest walking, alpine landscape, Himalayan scenery and cultural insight. This is perhaps the best trek that get to pristine land in few days with moderate walking. Since the trail wind along the ridge most of the time, Himalayan peaks looms at a distance from morning to evening. Peaks seen are - Mt Fishtial (Machapuchhre) 6,993 m Annapurna South 7,219 m, Huinchuli 6,441 m . From upper view point, one can even see Annapurna I - 8,091 m and other peaks seen from Annapurna base camp.
Mardi Himal base camp trek follows the famous Annapurna trail and then branch off from Deurali. The lush green forest of Rhododendron, Oak, Maple and Daphne is rich with over 400 species of birds. Just in 3 days from Pokhara, you reach the alpine landscape above the treeline. We follow the beaten trail to the rocky buttresses of Mt Fishtail. Mardi Himal is just 5,587 m rocky mountain east of Fishtail. On the way back visit Lwang village where they run community homestay. The village is self sufficient and pristine. Staying at the village for last night is the best way to end Mardi Himal base camp trek.
Trekking is the best way to feel the enchantment of Himalayas. The euphoria couldn't be described in words but you have to be there to experience it. Trekking in the Himalayas gives you a joy of connecting with nature. Himalayas have always been sacred. This is a place where sages and Siddhas got enlightened. People here still worship and celebrate them.
Nepal has got 800 km stretch of the Himalayas jagged with world's highest peaks. 8 out of the 10 world's highest peaks are in Nepal. Mardi Himal Trek kissed me for 6 days in the first week of June 2016 and now I am living with her sensual touch but she was not able to arrest me and put me into her lap for long. I wish, I had more time with her.
I have tried to include everything in details about Mardi Himal Trek like food, accommodations, scenery and people and some interviews with encountered one.
Mardi Himal Trek is situated in the eastern part of the Annapunrna Himalayan Range. It is one of the best cultural treks in Annapurna region which is still unspoiled. That’s why it is a hidden gem of the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal Trek is the least visited trekking in the Annapurna region where you will be able to experience real local culture along with great mountain scenery of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna south and Hiuchuli. Mardi Himal trek is the way quieter trekking in Annapurna region where you hardly meet other tourists so Mountain Ram Adventures connects you with the friendly local people and offers homestay along the trek. It has just been opened as lodge trek so you have no problem of your food and lodge but you have to go with the way they live and they eat. If you are expecting fancy lodge and food, you better choose other parts of Annapurna trek. Mardi Himal trek can be attempted by any inexperienced trekkers too, its relatively easy trek.
Mardi Himal Trek also pleases you with the beauty of flora and fauna. You will be walking through the dense forest, beautiful villages, amazing landscapes, wildlife, panoramic mountain views and unforgettably forest of the Rhododendron flower. Trekking leads you up to 3700 meters, the Mardi himal base camp and starts from 1700 meters, Kande. Mardi Himal base camp offers beautiful mountain views of the entire Annapurna range.
Mardi himal trek can be done within a week trek from Pokhara. Your will be travelling to Pokhara from Kathmandu either by tourist bus (7 hours drive) or the plane (30 minute flight) and your trekking starts from the next day when you arrive at Kande after an hour of drive from Pokhara. Trekking trails leads you to Australian Camp, Forest Camp, High Camp and Mardi Himal Base Camp and when you return you will be trekking down through the different villages like Sidhing, Lwang to finish the trekking. You are free after the trek either you stay few more days to enjoy the beauty of Pokhara city (most beautiful city of Nepal) or you can head back to Kathmandu the following day.

Mardi Himal Trek is a newly opened trekking trail in Annapurna conservation area. For long time it was only accessible for expedition groups with their own tents and catering team. Even though it was officially opened in 2012 for regular teahouse trek, there are only few basic teahouses (lodges) for accommodation. These teahouses make it possible to trek all the way to Mardi Himal base camp at 4,500 m.

The trek is diverse and with vibrant rhododendron forest walking, alpine landscape, Himalayan scenery and cultural insight. This is perhaps the best trek that get to pristine land in few days with moderate walking. Since the trail wind along the ridge most of the time, Himalayan peaks looms at a distance from morning to evening. Peaks seen are - Mt Fishtial (Machapuchhre) 6,993 m Annapurna South 7,219 m, Huinchuli 6,441 m . From upper view point, one can even see Annapurna I - 8,091 m and other peaks seen from Annapurna base camp.
Mardi Himal base camp trek follows the famous Annapurna trail and then branch off from Deurali. The lush green forest of Rhododendron, Oak, Maple and Daphne is rich with over 400 species of birds. Just in 3 days from Pokhara, you reach the alpine landscape above the treeline. We follow the beaten trail to the rocky buttresses of Mt Fishtail. Mardi Himal is just 5,587 m rocky mountain east of Fishtail. On the way back visit Lwang village where they run community homestay. The village is self sufficient and pristine. Staying at the village for last night is the best way to end Mardi Himal base camp trek.
Trekking is the best way to feel the enchantment of Himalayas. The euphoria couldn't be described in words but you have to be there to experience it. Mardi Himal Trek kissed me for 6 days in the first week of June 2016 and now I am living with her sensual touch but she was not able to arrest me and put me into her lap for long. I wish, I had more time with her.
I have tried to include everything in details about Mardi Himal Trek like food, accommodations, scenery and people and some interviews with encountered one.
Mardi Himal Trek is situated in the eastern part of the Annapunrna Himalayan Range. It is one of the best cultural treks in Annapurna region which is still unspoiled. That’s why it is a hidden gem of the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal Trek is the least visited trekking in the Annapurna region where you will be able to experience real local culture along with great mountain scenery of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna south and Hiuchuli. Mardi Himal trek is the way quieter trekking in Annapurna region where you hardly meet other tourists so Mountain Ram Adventures connects you with the friendly local people and offers homestay along the trek. It has just been opened as lodge trek so you have no problem of your food and lodge but you have to go with the way they live and they eat. If you are expecting fancy lodge and food, you better choose other parts of Annapurna trek. Mardi Himal trek can be attempted by any inexperienced trekkers too, its relatively easy trek.
Mardi Himal Trek also pleases you with the beauty of flora and fauna. You will be walking through the dense forest, beautiful villages, amazing landscapes, wildlife, panoramic mountain views and unforgettably forest of the Rhododendron flower. Trekking leads you up to 3700 meters, the Mardi himal base camp and starts from 1700 meters, Kande. Mardi Himal base camp offers beautiful mountain views of the entire Annapurna range.
Mardi himal trek can be done within a week trek from Pokhara. Your will be travelling to Pokhara from Kathmandu either by tourist bus (7 hours drive) or the plane (30 minute flight) and your trekking starts from the next day when you arrive at Kande after an hour of drive from Pokhara. Trekking trails leads you to Australian Camp, Forest Camp, High Camp and Mardi Himal Base Camp and when you return you will be trekking down through the different villages like Sidhing, Lwang to finish the trekking. You are free after the trek either you stay few more days to enjoy the beauty of Pokhara city (most beautiful city of Nepal) or you can head back to Kathmandu the following day.
