When it comes to best award show moments, the Golden Globes set a pretty high bar for all of the other award shows happening this season.
Well, this is one way to kick off award season! Like all shows, the 2017 Golden Globes have sadly come and gone, but not before leaving us with some of the best moments in award show history. The Globes opened up with an incredible musical number all thanks to Jimmy Fallon, his famous peers, and of course, the big winner of the night, ‘La La Land.’
We couldn’t have asked for a better cold open from an award show. On that same note, everyone should be very thankful for ‘La La Land’ because not only was Jimmy able to create an incredible spoof of musical moments from the movie for the Globes, Ryan Gosling’s win also gave us this hilarious, yet wonderful moment between Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield.
Did you catch them smooching in the background? No? Can we play it back in slow-mo really quick?
Yeah, no one knew they needed a Ryan and Andrew kiss until now.
And then, there was a short skit in the middle of the show where actors talked about their first jobs. Viola Davis started off as a person who changed people’s bingo cards, Sarah Paulson was a waitress at a pizzeria in Brooklyn, Kevin Hart was a lifeguard, but Chris Pratt, for the life of him, could not think of something good to say. The actor said his first job was being, well, being an actor, but that obviously didn’t fit with theme.
So he reallyyyy tried his best to make something up after asking the director to cut to a few of his other Hollywood buddies. But if we all know Chris, and we do, he just could not get his life together.
It’s okay if you started off your work life as an actor, Chris. We still love you anyway.
So we’re all well aware by now that any time Amy Schumer enters the room, there’s about to be some sort of ridiculousness that ensues, but this time it was her partner-in-crime-slash-upcoming-onscreen mother Goldie Hawn with the comical assist. The two, who star together in the upcoming film, Snatched, presented the award for best actor in a comedy or musical, and let’s just say if their chemistry onscreen is as hilarious as it was tonight, we may just have ourselves another epic ‘Trainwreck’ of a film.
But the comedy doesn’t stop there… that is, if that’s what you wanna call Steve Carrell and Kristen Wiig’s surprisingly depressing presentation. The two, who star together in the Despicable Me films, presented the award for best animated motion picture, as they recalled the first time they remember seeing an animated movie… Steve remembered being six years old, saying “My dad took me to see Fantasia. It was astounding; the music, the spectacle of the whole thing. It was kind of a life-changing experience.” Sounds great, right? Yeah, not quite…
Must we never settle until we all find our own Ryan Gosling… but the night continued as Jimmy Fallon appeared every so often to deliver even more comical bits, like the time he raised the roof while announcing the dynamic duo of presenters, Redmayne and Chastain…
And all is suddenly right in the world. But you didn’t think we’d leave you without giving a quick mention to one of the evening’s most hilariously awkward cringe-worthy moments now, did you? Sweet angelic Emma Stone was simply trying to congratulate her La La Land director Damien Chazelle on his Golden Globe win for best screenplay when this gem of a hug happened…
But who cares when you’ve got a brand-spankin’ shiny Golden Globe to tack onto your belt, and as if we didn’t think possible, we can now relate to Emma Stone on a whole new level. Golden Globe Award
The Golden Globe Award is an American accolade bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented are a major part of the film industry's awards season, which culminates each year with the Academy Awards.
The 73rd Golden Globe Awards, honouring the best in film and television in 2015, were broadcast live on January 10, 2016.Ricky Gervais hosted the show for the fourth time.
History
In 1943, a group of writers banded together to form the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and by creating a generously distributed award called the Golden Globe Award, they now play a significant role in film marketing. The 1st Golden Globe Awards, honoring the best achievements in 1943 filmmaking, were held late in January 1944, at the 20th Century-Fox studios. Subsequent ceremonies were held at various venues throughout the next decade, including the Beverly Hills Hotel, and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Film

NBC
The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) is an American commercial broadcast television and radio network that is the flagship property of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast. The network is headquartered in the Comcast Building (formerly known as the GE Building) at Rockefeller Center in New York City, with additional major offices near Los Angeles (at Universal City Plaza), Chicago (at the NBC Tower) and soon in Philadelphia at Comcast Innovation and Technology Center. The network is part of the Big Three television networks. NBC is sometimes referred to as the "Peacock Network", in reference to its stylized peacock logo, which was originally created in 1956 for its then-new color broadcasts and became the network's official emblem in 1979.
Founded in 1926 by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), NBC is the oldest major broadcast network in the United States. In 1986, control of NBC passed to General Electric (GE) – which previously owned RCA and NBC until 1930, when it was forced to sell the companies as a result of antitrust charges – through its $6.4 billion purchase of RCA. Following the acquisition by GE (which later liquidated RCA), Bob Wright served as chief executive officer of NBC, remaining in that position until his retirement in 2007, when he was succeeded by Jeff Zucker. In 2003, French media company Vivendi merged its entertainment assets with GE, forming NBC Universal. Comcast purchased a controlling interest in the company in 2011, and acquired General Electric's remaining stake in 2013. Following the Comcast merger, Zucker left NBC Universal and was replaced as CEO by Comcast executive Steve Burke.

When it comes to best award show moments, the Golden Globes set a pretty high bar for all of the other award shows happening this season.
Well, this is one way to kick off award season! Like all shows, the 2017 Golden Globes have sadly come and gone, but not before leaving us with some of the best moments in award show history. The Globes opened up with an incredible musical number all thanks to Jimmy Fallon, his famous peers, and of course, the big winner of the night, ‘La La Land.’
We couldn’t have asked for a better cold open from an award show. On that same note, everyone should be very thankful for ‘La La Land’ because not only was Jimmy able to create an incredible spoof of musical moments from the movie for the Globes, Ryan Gosling’s win also gave us this hilarious, yet wonderful moment between Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield.
Did you catch them smooching in the background? No? Can we play it back in slow-mo really quick?
Yeah, no one knew they needed a Ryan and Andrew kiss until now.
And then, there was a short skit in the middle of the show where actors talked about their first jobs. Viola Davis started off as a person who changed people’s bingo cards, Sarah Paulson was a waitress at a pizzeria in Brooklyn, Kevin Hart was a lifeguard, but Chris Pratt, for the life of him, could not think of something good to say. The actor said his first job was being, well, being an actor, but that obviously didn’t fit with theme.
So he reallyyyy tried his best to make something up after asking the director to cut to a few of his other Hollywood buddies. But if we all know Chris, and we do, he just could not get his life together.
It’s okay if you started off your work life as an actor, Chris. We still love you anyway.
So we’re all well aware by now that any time Amy Schumer enters the room, there’s about to be some sort of ridiculousness that ensues, but this time it was her partner-in-crime-slash-upcoming-onscreen mother Goldie Hawn with the comical assist. The two, who star together in the upcoming film, Snatched, presented the award for best actor in a comedy or musical, and let’s just say if their chemistry onscreen is as hilarious as it was tonight, we may just have ourselves another epic ‘Trainwreck’ of a film.
But the comedy doesn’t stop there… that is, if that’s what you wanna call Steve Carrell and Kristen Wiig’s surprisingly depressing presentation. The two, who star together in the Despicable Me films, presented the award for best animated motion picture, as they recalled the first time they remember seeing an animated movie… Steve remembered being six years old, saying “My dad took me to see Fantasia. It was astounding; the music, the spectacle of the whole thing. It was kind of a life-changing experience.” Sounds great, right? Yeah, not quite…
Must we never settle until we all find our own Ryan Gosling… but the night continued as Jimmy Fallon appeared every so often to deliver even more comical bits, like the time he raised the roof while announcing the dynamic duo of presenters, Redmayne and Chastain…
And all is suddenly right in the world. But you didn’t think we’d leave you without giving a quick mention to one of the evening’s most hilariously awkward cringe-worthy moments now, did you? Sweet angelic Emma Stone was simply trying to congratulate her La La Land director Damien Chazelle on his Golden Globe win for best screenplay when this gem of a hug happened…
But who cares when you’ve got a brand-spankin’ shiny Golden Globe to tack onto your belt, and as if we didn’t think possible, we can now relate to Emma Stone on a whole new level. According to a report from THR Ghostbusters has reportedly been banned in China by censors for a number of obscure reasons. Due to their official censorship guidelines, the China Film Bureau can turn down films that, in their eyes, “promote cults or superstition.” The country's regulators have been known to use this provision as rationale for turning down films that feature ghosts or supernatural beings in a semi-realistic way; as proven last year when they banned Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak, with Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest also suffering the same fate in 2006, thanks to its depictions of ghouls and cannibalism. But as THR reports, there’s a truer, non-superstitious reason for it all. Based on their own sources, the trade states that regulators simply don’t believe Chinese audiences will take to the new movie.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sigourney Weaver spoke a bit about the story director Neill Blomkamp cooked up for her Ripley character, in the as yet untiled Aliens sequel known simply as Aliens 5. Since Fox opted to delay the project, Weaver and Blomkamp’s busy schedules meant they had to move on with other projects while Ridley Scott took on directing duties for Alien: Covenant. A release date for Aliens 5 still hasn’t been set.
According to Deadline, Doctor Strange and 12 Years a Slave actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is in talks to join the production of Mary Magdalene, a film which sees Rooney Mara in the title role alongside Joaquin Phoenix as Jesus Christ. Ejiofor will play the role of Peter, Jesus’s main disciple and one of his 12 apostles.

The first official images from Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword have been unveiled thanks to an article in Entertainment Weekly. The reveal shows Jude Law as the villainous Vortigern, the tyrannical uncle of Charlie Hunnam’s titular hero Arthur. In this version of the story, Arthur is spurred into action when Vortigern murders Arthur’s brother and dad, played by Eric Bana, therefore taking the throne.
The first trailer for La La Land has been released online for Whiplash filmmaker Damien Chazelle’s highly anticipated follow-up film. The Los Angeles-set love story is a full-fledged musical that revolves around the love between a musician played by Ryan Gosling and a struggling actress played by Emma Stone.
According to a report from Deadline, The Weinstein Company has high hopes for its Michael Keaton starrer, The Founder, and is pushing the release date to the Oscar friendly slot of December 16th, where it will then open wide later in January. Michael Keaton stars as Illinois salesman Ray Kroc, who transformed McDonald’s into a thriving fast-food empire. The actor is in the midst of a major comeback following his Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated performance in Birdman, along with helping the director and cast of Spotlight snag last year’s Academy Award for Best Picture.

In today's episode it's all about Martin Scorsese. Martin Charles Scorsese was born on November 17, 1942, in New York City, to Italian-American parents Catherine (Cappa) and Charles Scorsese. He was raised in the neighborhood of Little Italy, which later provided the inspiration for several of his films. Scorsese earned a B.S. degree in film communications in 1964, followed by an M.A. in the same field in 1966 at New York University's School of Film. During this time, he made numerous prize-winning short films including The Big Shave (1968), and directed his first feature film, _Who's That Knocking at My Door (1967)_.
He served as assistant director and an editor of the documentary Woodstock (1970) and won critical and popular acclaim for Mean Streets (1973), which first paired him with actor and frequent collaborator Robert De Niro. In 1976, Scorsese's Taxi Driver (1976), also starring De Niro, was awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and he followed that film with New York, New York (1977) and The Last Waltz (1978). Scorsese directed De Niro to an Oscar-winning performance as boxer Jake LaMotta in Raging Bull (1980), which received eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, and is hailed as one of the masterpieces of modern cinema. Scorsese went on to direct The Color of Money (1986), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), Goodfellas (1990), Cape Fear (1991), The Age of Innocence (1993), Casino (1995), and Kundun (1997), among other films. Commissioned by the British Film Institute to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of cinema, Scorsese completed the four-hour documentary, A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies (1995), co-directed by Michael Henry Wilson.
His long-cherished project, Gangs of New York (2002), earned numerous critical honors, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Director; the Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator (2004) won five Academy Awards, in addition to the Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for Best Picture. Scorsese won his first Academy Award for Best Director for The Departed (2006), which was also honored with the Director's Guild of America, Golden Globe, New York Film Critics, National Board of Review and Critic's Choice awards for Best Director, in addition to four Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Scorsese's documentary of the Rolling Stones in concert, Shine a Light (2008), followed, with the successful thriller Shutter Island (2010) two years later. Scorsese received his seventh Academy Award nomination for Best Director, as well as a Golden Globe win, for Hugo (2011), which went on to win five Academy Awards.
Scorsese also serves as executive producer on HBO's series Boardwalk Empire (2010) for which he directed the pilot episode. Scorsese's additional awards and honors include the Golden Lion from the Venice Film Festival (1995), the AFI Life Achievement Award (1997), the Honoree at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's 25th Gala Tribute (1998), the DGA Lifetime Achievement Award (2003), The Kennedy Center Honors (2007) and the HFPA Cecil B. DeMille Award (2010).

Scorsese won his first Academy Award for Best Director for The Departed (2006), which was also honored with the Director's Guild of America, Golden Globe, New York Film Critics, National Board of Review and Critic's Choice awards for Best Director, in addition to four Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Scorsese's documentary of the Rolling Stones in concert, Shine a Light (2008), followed, with the successful thriller Shutter Island (2010) two years later. Scorsese received his seventh Academy Award nomination for Best Director, as well as a Golden Globe win, for Hugo (2011), which went on to win five Academy Awards.
Scorsese also serves as executive producer on HBO's series Boardwalk Empire (2010) for which he directed the pilot episode. Scorsese's additional awards and honors include the Golden Lion from the Venice Film Festival (1995), the AFI Life Achievement Award (1997), the Honoree at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's 25th Gala Tribute (1998), the DGA Lifetime Achievement Award (2003), The Kennedy Center Honors (2007) and the HFPA Cecil B. DeMille Award (2010).
