Vain may refer to:
"You're So Vain" is a song written and performed by Carly Simon and released in November 1972. The song is a critical profile of a self-absorbed lover about whom Simon asserts "You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you." The title subject's identity has long been a matter of speculation, with Simon stating that the song refers to three men, only one of whom she has named publicly, Warren Beatty.
The song is ranked at #82 on Billboard's Greatest Songs of All-Time. "You're So Vain" was voted #216 in RIAA's Songs of the Century. And on August 23, 2014, the U.K. Official Charts Company crowned it the ultimate song of the 1970s. It remains Simon's biggest hit and is considered her signature song.
The distinctive bass guitar intro is played by Klaus Voormann and the strings were arranged and orchestrated by Paul Buckmaster.
Before the song became a hit single in 1972, Simon told an interviewer that the song was about "men," not a specific "man".
In 1983, she said it is not about Mick Jagger, who contributed uncredited backing vocals to the song. In a 1993 book Angela Bowie claimed to be the "wife of a close friend" mentioned in "You're So Vain", and that Jagger, for a time, had been "obsessed" with her. Simon made another comment about the subject's identity as a guest artist on Janet Jackson's 2001 single, "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)", which sampled "You're So Vain". Simon said about the song, "The apricot scarf was worn by Nick (Delbanco). Nothing in the words were referred to Mick."
Carly Elisabeth Simon (born June 25, 1945) is an American singer-songwriter, musician and children's author. She first rose to fame in the 1970s with a string of hit records; her 13 Top 40 U.S. hits include "Anticipation" (No. 13), "You Belong To Me" (No. 6), "Coming Around Again" (No. 18), and her four Gold certified singles "Jesse" (No. 11), "Mockingbird" (No. 5), a duet with James Taylor, "You're So Vain" (No. 1), and "Nobody Does It Better" (No. 2) from the 1977 James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me.
After a brief stint with her sister Lucy Simon as duo group the Simon Sisters, she found great success as a solo artist with her 1971 self-titled debut album Carly Simon, which won her the Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and spawned her first Top 10 single "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be". Simon achieved international fame with her third album No Secrets which sat firmly at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 5 weeks, and spawned the worldwide hit "You're So Vain", for which she received three Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Over the course of her career, Simon has amassed 24 Billboard Hot 100 charting singles, 28 Billboard Adult Contemporary charting singles, and has won two Grammy Awards. AllMusic called Simon, "One of the quintessential singer/songwriters of the '70s". Simon has a contralto vocal range.
You Are Here is the debut album by Thenewno2. It was released online on 1 August 2008, and in stores on 31 March 2009. The album was written, produced and performed by Dhani Harrison and Oliver Hecks. The album was recorded and mixed by Paul Hicks. "Another John Doe", a single from the album, was released via iTunes on 31 March 2008. The iTunes edition includes the two bonus tracks "Jokes On You", and "You Gotta Wait".
Two tracks from the album, "Crazy Tuesday" and "Another John Doe", were played on radio station 103.1 on 19 June and 20 June 2008. The song "Yomp" was featured as a downloadable song for the Rock Band series, and "Crazy Tuesday" was featured as one of the 20 free songs that were downloadable with the purchase of Rock Band 2. The rest of the album was announced to be released on Rock Band on Dhani Harrison's MySpace bulletin, though the rest of the album remains unreleased in the game.
In an interview about the album Dhani stated "I started off with a few demos and Oli had a few demos. When I was working on them there was a clear laptop sound that we were doing. Once I saw that happening, I took all of Oli’s songs and put them into the same format. I went back to England to engineer it. After I sort of got all our ducks in a row, it became clear what we had. Oli came out and we recorded some stuff, and I stayed with Paul Hicks and kind of produced the whole thing from an album point of view. We worked on the consistency of the sound."

((I made a mistake in the video, which I've tried to correct - the year is 1972)) Carly Simon's 1972 hit "You're So Vain" with lyrics below. LYRICS: You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht Your hat strategically dipped below one eye Your scarf it was apricot You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner They'd be your partner, and.... You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you Don't you? Don't you? You had me several years ago when I was still quite naive Well you said that we made such a pretty pair and that you would never leave But you gave away the things you loved and one of them was me I had som...
You have told a thousand lies
Told then a thousand times
Your words just create lies
No one will symphathize
Recognize that trust in you has died
You just don't realize 'cause you're dead inside
Maliciously you deceive, cunningness as your, salvation
Broken promises you've made, empty words you've said
You care for none but your own, just for your own
The nothing you've become!, the nothing you've become
My anger is aimed at you
Eternally I hate you
My rage is aimed at you
I really love to hate you
You are straying
Been excelling in failing
You fake it, mistake it
Can't stand the ways you mess with your life
Can't stand the person you've become
You're living in a life, there's nothing inside
Maliciously you deceive, cunningness as your, salvation
Broken promises you've made, empty words you've said
You care for none but your own, just for your own
The nothing you've become, the nothing you've become
