Sylvia Syms Tribute
Here is a great song, performed by Sylvia Syms, a singer's singer, a supperclub siren with a tough but appealing style that compellingly conveys the meaning of each lyric.
Sylvia Syms (1917 - 1992) was a jazz singer. She was born Sylvia Blagman in Brooklyn, New York. As a teenager, she went to jazz-oriented nightclubs on New York's 52nd Street, and received informal training from Billie Holiday. Her personal friendships with Billie Holiday and Mildred Bailey led to her absorbing elements of their craft. In 1941 she made her debut at a club called Billy's Stable. In 1948, performing at the Cinderella Club in Greenwich Village, she was seen by Mae West, who gave her a part in a show she was doing. Among others who observed her in night clubs was Frank Sinatra who considered her the "world's...

She was signed to a record company by Decca Records, having her major success with a recording of "I Could Have Danced All Night" in 1956. She sang everything from cabaret music to light jazz. Her claim to fame is her versatility in singing, making every song original in its style and sound. During her long career, Sylvia Syms recorded more than 15 albums in several different genres. Her musical contribution is that of singing several different styles of music with one voice. She died in New York City from natural causes, aged 74.
Enjoy Sylvia's unique style and voice!

In the early 1960's the Goodyear Tire Company commisioned 5 short jazz films. The programs were originally filmed in 35 mm negative. The sound was recorded in professional stereo. Presenting the band in full vigor.
Over the years, the prints faded to pink, because of an unstable color print stock. What was once an extremely professional, good looking endavour, now looked like the most out of date historic relic.
In the late 80s Storyville Films polished and remastered the original source material and sync'ed music to the images.
Finally these films were back to their intended quality and now stand as some of the most technically advanced of jazz films of the early 60s.

"Hangin' with Jimmy and Frank"
There is no Manuscript or TAB with this product.
Jimmy Bruno and Frank Vignola were brought together about 25 years ago by the legendary jazz record producer and original owner of Concord Records, Carl Jefferson. They only recorded one album together with the great Howard Alden, titled the Concord Jazz Guitar Collective. This trio toured a bit after the release as well and all three went on to have wonderful careers as soloists and as accompanists for many legendary jazz and pop icons.
After both Jimmy and Frank battled serious life-threatening issues in the year 2017, they re-connected to support each other during the rough times, spending hours on the phone making each other laugh, keeping each other positive, discussing music, chord changes, etc… Jimmy and Frank are both so thrilled to be back. They have emerged with their first duo recording, "Hangin' with Jimmy and Frank". As Jimmy puts it, "I have a new love for playing guitar". It sure is evident in this duo setting, which is Jimmy's first recording in over 10 years.
Included in this package are 12 wav files (higher quality audio) and 12 mp3s (lower quality audio) to download. This is the record, which you can burn to disc or transfer to phone, iPod, etc...
There are also 39 video segments. 12 are video performances of the songs as recorded in the studio. These performance vids include some before and after song banter, stories, and bloopers. There are two educational videos for each song. One from Jimmy and one from Frank. They discuss the song, giving some practical playing advice, going through the chord changes with substitutions, sharing information on how to spice up your playing, and demonstrating techniques used in the performance. There are 2 introduction videos by Jimmy and Frank sharing how this project came together and a quick video of Jimmy and Frank after arriving at the studio. 39 video segments in all.
Note - There is no manuscript or TAB included with this product.
