So tonight is our very last night in Yangshuo, a charming little town in Southwestern China, so we're going to show you around the main strip.
So our first stop is going to be the street food market. I haven't eaten in maybe two hours, so it's time to get a snack.
If I had to choose between Guilin and Yangshuo the two most popular cities in this region it's definitely Yangshuo. It's a more historic town. It's a lot more pedestrian friendly and there are great
As we were wandering around the night market tonight we had lots of people come up to us and ask to take photos beside us. At least probably four or five times and we finally filmed the last one. It was really cool. We were like celebrities in China. Yeah, almost famous.
So, this market had some pretty cool souvenirs. We saw fake Chinese passports if you want to take one of those home. They also had combs carved out of ox bone. They had these stamps where you can get your Chinese name carved on them and then you can just sign documents that way which is pretty cool.
Today we are visiting a local hill tribe that just lives a few hours outside of Guilin and we've come here because this community is known for the women's long hair. They grow it out and it's almost a meter and a half long and we're actually going to be watching a performance where they spin their hair and wrap it up and show us how they wear it.
Today we're in between Guilin and Yangshuo and we're doing a special river cruise down the Li River.
So this tour is going to be an hour and a half long and we're going to get to enjoy some pretty stunning landscapes, so I'm pretty excited about it.
When I came here two years ago it was hazy and foggy. Now it's a gorgeous glorious day.
Here we are at the Longji Rice Fields which are located just outside of Guilin. We've had such good luck. Check out the weather and the views behind.
So this is the Guilin main square. It gets really busy here at night. Lots of shops, restaurants, eateries. You can do it all here.

So we are now at the lake and the main attraction are the these two pagodas that light up at night.

Oh, that mapo tofu looks so good. Really generous sized portion.
Well, it's hard to believe but our time in Hong Kong has already expired. Today we're taking a train ride. Where are we going? We're crossing over into China.
We are in Guangzho. Apparently there are two train stations. We arrived at the one that is on the East End of the City and we had to get across town to the other and it was difficult but we need to keep going.
So right now we are in Guangzho station waiting for our train to Guilin. And we happen to be waiting in the VIP room.
There is no tea in this tea room.
We're going to Guilin.
Uh, we're looking for number ten.
So we're in the dining cart now getting ready to have dinner. Let's see what is on the menu if we can even read it. We barely got a seat here.
Decision time. So we did manage to find an English menu which makes things a lot easier.
Fish one. Tofu with pork. One. Okay. Rice. One Rice? Okay. Beer. One. Okay. Ah, green tea - one. okay.
So this is the friend fish with a sweet and sour sauce.
Good morning. We are almost in Guilin. Our train has been delayed about an hour and a half.

This is my vision of a great travel through cities, mountains, rivers and villages in Guizhou and Guangxi provinces in China.I began my travel from Hong Kong and Shenzhen by train and bus. This video shows the modernism and the culture of Guizhou and Guangxi, the souls of the ethies people ( miao Shui and Hmong people in the villages ) and the atmospheres of the beautiful landscapes.
I have filmed in Guiyang during two days and on the road in Guizhou province in different villages:
Langde, Sandu, Rongjiang, Tingdong, Jiabang and the rices field, but also Baisha in Shiqian Country , around Baisha, Zhaoxing, Matang and Jidao Miao Village. I have seen beautiful sunsets, beautiful mountains and meet nice people in Yangshuo and around ( Xingping fishing village ).
I travel alone with my camera and DSLR equipments around the world, often in Asia.

Guangxi

Guangxi (Chinese: 广西; pronounced [kwàŋɕí]; Zhuang: Gvangjish), officially the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is a Chinese autonomous region in South Central China, bordering Vietnam. Formerly a province, Guangxi became an autonomous region in 1958.
Guangxi's location, in mountainous terrain in the far south of China, has placed it on the frontier of Chinese civilization throughout much of China's history. The current name "Guang" means "expanse" and has been associated with the region since the creation of Guang Prefecture in 226 AD. It was given provincial level status during the Yuan dynasty, but even into the 20th century it was considered an open, wild territory.
The abbreviation of the region is "桂" (Pinyin: Guì; Zhuang: Gvei), which comes from the name of the city of Guilin, the provincial capital during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The current capital is Nanning.
History
Originally inhabited by a mixture of tribal groups known to the Chinese as the Baiyue ("Hundred Yue"), the region first became part of China during the Qin dynasty. In 214 BC, the Han Chinese general Zhao Tuo (Vietnamese: Triệu Đà) claimed most of southern China for Qin Shi Huang before the emperor's death. The ensuing civil war permitted Zhao to establish a separate kingdom at Panyu known as Nanyue "Southern Yue". Alternatively submissive to and independent of Han dynasty control, Southern Yue expanded colonization and sinicization under its policy of "Harmonizing and Gathering the Hundred Yue" (和集百越) until its collapse in 111 BC during the southward expansion of the Han dynasty.

China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. Terrace (agriculture)
In agriculture, a terrace is a piece of sloped plane that has been cut into a series of successively receding flat surfaces or platforms, which resemble steps, for the purposes of more effective farming. This type of landscaping, therefore, is called terracing. Graduated terrace steps are commonly used to farm on hilly or mountainous terrain. Terraced fields decrease both erosion and surface runoff, and may be used to support growing crops that require irrigation, such as rice. The rice terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the significance of this technique.
Terraced paddy fields are used widely in rice, wheat and barley farming in east, south, and southeast Asia, as well as other places. Drier-climate terrace farming is common throughout the Mediterranean Basin, e.g., in Cadaqués, Catalonia, where they were used for vineyards, olive trees, cork oak, etc., on Mallorca, and in Cinque Terre, Italy.
In the South American Andes, farmers have used terraces, known as andenes, for over a thousand years to farm potatoes, maize, and other native crops. Terraced farming was developed by the Wari' and other peoples of the south-central Andes before 1000 AD, centuries before they were used by the Inca, who adopted them. The terraces were built to make the most efficient use of shallow soil and to enable irrigation of crops.

Guilin
Guilin is a prefecture-level city in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, situated on the west bank of the Li River, and bordering Hunan to the north. Its name means, "Forest of Sweet Osmanthus", owing to the large number of fragrant Sweet Osmanthus trees located in the city. The city has long been renowned for its scenery of karst topography and is one of China's most popular tourist destinations.
History
In 314 BC, a small settlement was established along the banks of the Li River.
During the Qin Dynasty's (221–207 BC) campaigns against the state of Nanyue, the first administration was set up in the area around Guilin.
In 111 BC, during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Shi An County was established, which could be regarded as the beginning of the city.
In 507 AD, the town was renamed Guizhou.
Guilin prospered in the Tang and Song dynasties but remained a county. The city was also a nexus between the central government and the southwest border, and it was where regular armies were placed to guard that border. Canals were built through the city so that food supplies could be directly transported from the food-productive Yangtze plain to the farthest southwestern point of the empire.

This is my vision of a great travel through cities, mountains, rivers and villages in Guizhou and Guangxi provinces in China.I began my travel from Hong Kong and Shenzhen by train and bus. This video shows the modernism and the culture of Guizhou and Guangxi, the souls of the ethies people ( miao Shui and Hmong people in the villages ) and the atmospheres of the beautiful landscapes. China is a vast country with a seemingly endless variety of landscapes. From the modern skylines of Shanghai and Hong Kong to the ancient city walls of Xi'an, the former capital of the 'Middle Kingdom'. Imposing rice terraces contrast with stark desert scenery, massive coal factories rub shoulders with newly built cities. I have been privileged to visit China a number of times in the last decade or so, usually with a photo- and or video camera in hand, trying to capture glimpses of this ever evolving nation. Earlier this year, I took the opportunity to travel across the country for another 3 months, focusing primarily on aerial photography and filming. Guangxi Cave Exploration Project 2016 Part 1
The Region Guangxi is an autonomous region in southern China bordering Vietnam, about the same size as the state of Minnesota. The area is known for its rivers, lakes, caves, and Karst formations. Cruises on the Li Jiang River connect Guilin and Yangshuo, two cities punctuated by toothlike Karst peaks. Guilin is the site of Ludi Yan (Reed Flute Cave), a limestone cavern noted for its stalagtites and stalagmites. It is one of the most famous “Karst Topography” in China and much like the province of Quintana Roo, Mexico, it is like swiss cheese and has a ton of caves. The local people say "it's like you have a lot of sunroofs in your house."

So tonight is our very last night in Yangshuo, a charming little town in Southwestern China, so we're going to show you around the main strip.
So our first stop is going to be the street food market. I haven't eaten in maybe two hours, so it's time to get a snack.
If I had to choose between Guilin and Yangshuo the two most popular cities in this region it's definitely Yangshuo. It's a more historic town. It's a lot more pedestrian friendly and there are great
As we were wandering around the night market tonight we had lots of people come up to us and ask to take photos beside us. At least probably four or five times and we finally filmed the last one. It was really cool. We were like celebrities in China. Yeah, almost famous.
So, this market had some pretty cool souvenirs. We saw fake Chinese passports if you want to take one of those home. They also had combs carved out of ox bone. They had these stamps where you can get your Chinese name carved on them and then you can just sign documents that way which is pretty cool.
Today we are visiting a local hill tribe that just lives a few hours outside of Guilin and we've come here because this community is known for the women's long hair. They grow it out and it's almost a meter and a half long and we're actually going to be watching a performance where they spin their hair and wrap it up and show us how they wear it.
Today we're in between Guilin and Yangshuo and we're doing a special river cruise down the Li River.
So this tour is going to be an hour and a half long and we're going to get to enjoy some pretty stunning landscapes, so I'm pretty excited about it.
When I came here two years ago it was hazy and foggy. Now it's a gorgeous glorious day.
Here we are at the Longji Rice Fields which are located just outside of Guilin. We've had such good luck. Check out the weather and the views behind.
So this is the Guilin main square. It gets really busy here at night. Lots of shops, restaurants, eateries. You can do it all here.
Chinese singing.
So we are now at the lake and the main attraction are the these two pagodas that light up at night.
Background music playing.
Oh, that mapo tofu looks so good. Really generous sized portion.
Well, it's hard to believe but our time in Hong Kong has already expired. Today we're taking a train ride. Where are we going? We're crossing over into China.
We are in Guangzho. Apparently there are two train stations. We arrived at the one that is on the East End of the City and we had to get across town to the other and it was difficult but we need to keep going.
So right now we are in Guangzho station waiting for our train to Guilin. And we happen to be waiting in the VIP room.
There is no tea in this tea room.
We're going to Guilin.
Uh, we're looking for number ten.
So we're in the dining cart now getting ready to have dinner. Let's see what is on the menu if we can even read it. We barely got a seat here.
Decision time. So we did manage to find an English menu which makes things a lot easier.
Fish one. Tofu with pork. One. Okay. Rice. One Rice? Okay. Beer. One. Okay. Ah, green tea - one. okay.
So this is the friend fish with a sweet and sour sauce.
Good morning. We are almost in Guilin. Our train has been delayed about an hour and a half.

This video shows the modernism and the culture of Guizhou and Guangxi, the souls of the ethies people ( miao Shui and Hmong people in the villages ) and the atmospheres of the beautiful landscapes.
I have filmed in Guiyang during two days and on the road in Guizhou province in different villages:
Langde, Sandu, Rongjiang, Tingdong, Jiabang and the rices field, but also Baisha in Shiqian Country , around Baisha, Zhaoxing, Matang and Jidao Miao Village. I have seen beautiful sunsets, beautiful mountains and meet nice people in Yangshuo and around ( Xingping fishing village ).
I travel alone with my camera and DSLR equipments around the world, often in Asia.

China is a vast country with a seemingly endless variety of landscapes. From the modern skylines of Shanghai and Hong Kong to the ancient city walls of Xi'an, the former capital of the 'Middle Kingdom'. Imposing rice terraces contrast with stark desert scenery, massive coal factories rub shoulders with newly built cities.
I have been privileged to visit China a number of times in the last decade or so, usually with a photo- and or video camera in hand, trying to capture glimpses of this ever evolving nation. Earlier this year, I took the opportunity to travel across the country for another 3 months, focusing primarily on aerial photography and filming.
This little adventure took me from the Northern 'rust belt provinces' to the beautiful mountain landscapes of national parks like Zhangjiajie (often named as an inspiration for the popular Avatar movie) and Jiuzhaigou. I also visited some cities to gain an aerial perspective of China's urban development, and came across several major infrastructure projects. The rural backwaters in Guangxi province were a personal favorite to explore, with the surreal Dragon's Backbone rice terraces and karst scenery around Guilin.
I edited some of this material into one single clip, trying to show some of the diversity I came across. The drone I traveled around with was the DJI Phantom 4.
You will find footage from the following places in this clip (in no particular order): Zhangjiajie national park, the Yangtze River (Three Gorges), Dunhuang (sand dunes and solar panels), Guazhou (wind turbines), Hebei province (Great Wall of China), Dazhai (Dragon's Backbone rice terraces), Fujian province (Hakka 'tulou' round houses), Pingyao, Changsha (Mao Zedong memorial), Liaoning province (several industrial sites and 'ghost cities'), Guangzhou (Evergrande football stadium), Hong Kong, Shanghai, Jishou (Aizhai bridge), Hainan island, Chongqing, Guilin, Jiuzhaigou national park, Zhengzhou, Linxia (golden domed mosque), Zhangye national park, Macau, Hukou waterfalls, and Shenzhen.

Cruises on the Li Jiang River connect Guilin and Yangshuo, two cities punctuated by toothlike Karst peaks. Guilin is the site of Ludi Yan (Reed Flute Cave), a limestone cavern noted for its stalagtites and stalagmites. It is one of the most famous “Karst Topography” in China and much like the province of Quintana Roo, Mexico, it is like swiss cheese and has a ton of caves. The local people say "it's like you have a lot of sunroofs in your house."

So tonight is our very last night in Yangshuo, a charming little town in Southwestern China, so we're going to show you around the main strip.
So our first stop is going to be the street food market. I haven't eaten in maybe two hours, so it's time to get a snack.

As we were wandering around the night market tonight we had lots of people come up to us and ask to take photos beside us. At least probably four or five times and we finally filmed the last one. It was really cool. We were like celebrities in China. Yeah, almost famous.
So, this market had some pretty cool souvenirs. We saw fake Chinese passports if you want to take one of those home. They also had combs carved out of ox bone. They had these stamps where you can get your Chinese name carved on them and then you can just sign documents that way which is pretty cool.
Today we are visiting a local hill tribe that just lives a few hours outside of Guilin and we've come here because this community is known for the women's long hair. They grow it out and it's almost a meter and a half long and we're actually going to be watching a performance where they spin their hair and wrap it up and show us how they wear it.
Today we're in between Guilin and Yangshuo and we're doing a special river cruise down the Li River.
So this tour is going to be an hour and a half long and we're going to get to enjoy some pretty stunning landscapes, so I'm pretty excited about it.
When I came here two years ago it was hazy and foggy. Now it's a gorgeous glorious day.
Here we are at the Longji Rice Fields which are located just outside of Guilin. We've had such good luck. Check out the weather and the views behind.
So this is the Guilin main square. It gets really busy here at night. Lots of shops, restaurants, eateries. You can do it all here.

So we are now at the lake and the main attraction are the these two pagodas that light up at night.

Well, it's hard to believe but our time in Hong Kong has already expired. Today we're taking a train ride. Where are we going? We're crossing over into China.
We are in Guangzho. Apparently there are two train stations. We arrived at the one that is on the East End of the City and we had to get across town to the other and it was difficult but we need to keep going.
So right now we are in Guangzho station waiting for our train to Guilin. And we happen to be waiting in the VIP room.
There is no tea in this tea room.
We're going to Guilin.
Uh, we're looking for number ten.
So we're in the dining cart now getting ready to have dinner. Let's see what is on the menu if we can even read it. We barely got a seat here.
Decision time. So we did manage to find an English menu which makes things a lot easier.
Fish one. Tofu with pork. One. Okay. Rice. One Rice? Okay. Beer. One. Okay. Ah, green tea - one. okay.
So this is the friend fish with a sweet and sour sauce.

So tonight is our very last night in Yangshuo, a charming little town in Southwestern China, so we're going to show you around the main strip.
So our first stop is going to be the street food market. I haven't eaten in maybe two hours, so it's time to get a snack.

A boat trip along the Lijiang River is an ideal way to travel and to experience this impressive and famous area with its unique and bizarrely-shaped peaks. Its geological formations date back more than three hundred million years when the Guilin region was entirely covered by ocean. Blyde River Canyon is twenty six kilometres long and over eight hundred metres deep and is one of the most beautiful regions of the Transvaal Drakens Mountains in South Africa. The first glimpse of the circular rock formations and it is evident why Blyde River Canyon is considered to be one of the greatest natural wonders in Africa. The red sandstone cliffs are almost vertical and in some sections measure several hundred metres down to the canyon and river below. Just outside the town of Page in the state of Arizona a narrow and unimpressive entrance leads into the mysterious world of Antelope Canyon. The small Antelope Creek River that is infrequently fed by additional water has, throughout the course of thousands of years, cut a fascinating canyon into the red sandstone and created a natural work of art. A true celebration of form and colour, unearthly, mysterious and of amazing beauty. The Etosha National Park in Namibia is one of the largest wildlife reserves in the world. No other park in Africa contains as many animals. A hundred and ten different mammals have been recorded in this national park. A truly remarkable variety that is also reflected in the vegetation of the region. Over three hundred and forty species of bird populate this unique habitat. The vastness of this magnificent landscape is overwhelming as Etosha covers an area of almost twenty two thousand square kilometres!

Okay, so it's early morning here in Yangshuo. It's about eight o'clock and the town is still sleepy. There is hardly any people on the street, so we're going to go have breakfast at our favorite Israeli restaurant and then we're going to bike around the area.
We've rented a couple of bikes and we've decided to spend our last morning exploring around the countryside areas of Yangshuo. They were pretty cheap. Just under two dollars for each bike.

So we are hiking up to one of the viewing platforms. This is going to be tough because it's like forty degrees outside and we're been told it'll take 30 minutes to one hour depending on our pace. So I'm trying to stay hydrated. Audrey is going to have to workout today.
So we finally made it to Guilin. We've been waiting for things to cool down and now that it is evening we're going to give you a little tour of the place.

So I'm not sure we want to be walking through that tunnel when it gets a bit later in the day because it is pretty dark in there and there are no lights. And people aren't using their headlights.

When I was in Guilin two years ago this area right here used to all be traditional homes. One of my favorite restaurants was here. A really good Chinese restaurant. I used to love wandering around here. Now it's just new development.

Okay, so it's early morning here in Yangshuo. It's about eight o'clock and the town is still sleepy. There is hardly any people on the street, so we're going to go have breakfast at our favorite Israeli restaurant and then we're going to bike around the area.
We've rented a couple of bikes and we've decided to spend our last morning exploring around the countryside areas of Yangshuo. They were pretty cheap. Just under two dollars for each bike.
Today we are visiting a local hill tribe that just lives a few hours outside of Guilin and we've come here because this community is known for the women's long hair. They grow it out and it's almost a meter and a half long and we're actually going to be watching a performance where they spin their hair and wrap it up and show us how they wear it.
So tonight is our very last night in Yangshuo, a charming little town in Southwestern China, so we're going to show you around the main strip.

So our first stop is going to be the street food market. I haven't eaten in maybe two hours, so it's time to get a snack. So you're officially starving. Starving. Ravenous!
Here we are at the Longji Rice Fields which are located just outside of Guilin. We've had such good luck. Check out the weather and the views behind.

So we are hiking up to one of the viewing platforms. This is going to be tough because it's like forty degrees outside and we're been told it'll take 30 minutes to one hour depending on our pace. So I'm trying to stay hydrated. Audrey is going to have to workout today.
So we finally made it to Guilin. We've been waiting for things to cool down and now that it is evening we're going to give you a little tour of the place.

So I'm not sure we want to be walking through that tunnel when it gets a bit later in the day because it is pretty dark in there and there are no lights. And people aren't using their headlights.

When I was in Guilin two years ago this area right here used to all be traditional homes. One of my favorite restaurants was here. A really good Chinese restaurant. I used to love wandering around here. Now it's just new development.

So this is the Guilin main square. It gets really busy here at night. Lots of shops, restaurants, eateries. You can do it all here.

So we are now at the lake and the main attraction are the these two pagodas that light up at night.

Oh, that mapo tofu looks so good. Really generous sized portion.

This was our last day in Yangshuo. It was really only a half day because we had an afternoon bus ride from Yangshuo's North Bus Station direct to the Guilin Airport for our evening flight back to Shanghai.
We made the most of it by busing out to the nearby town of XingPing. But first, right after we checked out of the Phoenix Pagoda, we took a taxi to the North Bus Station to buy our bus tickets for the afternoon trip to the Guilin Airport. Each ticket cost 50 RMB. We highly recommend booking your bus tickets at least 12 hours before your departure because popular tourist routes often sell out.
We then went across town to the South Bus Station, which is a departure point for local routes. We paid 8 RMB per person for the hour long bus ride to XingPing. The bus stopped a couple times along the way. The ride was pleasant and the scenery beautiful.
As soon as we arrived at the XingPing Bus Station, tourist guides surrounded us. We didn't have time to negotiate the day's activities on our own, so we told a guide that we wanted to take a boat ride on the Li River.
Many tourists choose to travel from Guilin to Yangshuo by large tourist boats that serve a meal and announce all the viewing points over the intercom. The Li River is known for its mountain scenery, especially the famous scene on the 20 RMB bill! The large boats only travel in one direction. Another way to see the Li River is from XingPing, which takes you by much of the same scenery as the large boat, including the 20 RMB mountains. XingPing's bamboo rafts have motors, unlike the the two-person rafts that dominate the Yulong River in Yangshuo. The Li River's rafts fit four people plus the person steering the boat. We paid 240 RMB for the ride, which took about an hour, and we had the boat all to ourselves. It was, as expected, gorgeous!
Once we reached dry land, we headed straight to the entrance of LaoZhaiShan, or LaoZhai Mountain. This hike is free and took approximately 45 minutes. It gets steeper and a bit treacherous towards the top when you have to climb some precarious looking stairs. We were amazed when we got to the top and saw a young European couple with their four-year-old daughter. What a brave girl! Even though it was a little hazy the day we were there, the view from the top was still sweeping and magnificent. We can't imagine how far the layers of mountains stretch on a clear day! We recommend climbing to top of the rocks behind the pagoda on the peak for an even more sweeping view of the river and XingPing town.

This was a week long backpacking trip around Guangxi China visiting some of the famous locations there including: Yangshuo, Guilin, The Li River and The Moon Hill. Guangxi Province is in Southern China, next to the Vietnam border. There are amazing mountains and rivers there and it is an awesome place to travel to; I highly recommend it! This video was shot mostly on my Sanyo Xacti HD1010 camcorder and Iphone 4, in 2014.

Guangxi Cave Exploration Project 2016 Part 1
The Region Guangxi is an autonomous region in southern China bordering Vietnam, about the same size as the state of Minnesota. The area is known for its rivers, lakes, caves, and Karst formations. Cruises on the Li Jiang River connect Guilin and Yangshuo, two cities punctuated by toothlike Karst peaks. Guilin is the site of Ludi Yan (Reed Flute Cave), a limestone cavern noted for its stalagtites and stalagmites. It is one of the most famous “Karst Topography” in China and much like the province of Quintana Roo, Mexico, it is like swiss cheese and has a ton of caves. The local people say "it's like you have a lot of sunroofs in your house."

So tonight is our very last night in Yangshuo, a charming little town in Southwestern China, so we're going to show you around the main strip.
So our first stop is going to be the street food market. I haven't eaten in maybe two hours, so it's time to get a snack.
If I had to choose between Guilin and Yangshuo the two most popular cities in this region it's definitely Yangshuo. It's a more historic town. It's a lot more pedestrian friendly and there are great
As we were wandering around the night market tonight we had lots of people come up to us and ask to take photos beside us. At least probably four or five times and we finally filmed the last one. It was really cool. We were like celebrities in China. Yeah, almost famous.
So, this market had some pretty cool souvenirs. We saw fake Chinese passports if you want to take one of those home. They also had combs carved out of ox bone. They had these stamps where you can get your Chinese name carved on them and then you can just sign documents that way which is pretty cool.
Today we are visiting a local hill tribe that just lives a few hours outside of Guilin and we've come here because this community is known for the women's long hair. They grow it out and it's almost a meter and a half long and we're actually going to be watching a performance where they spin their hair and wrap it up and show us how they wear it.
Today we're in between Guilin and Yangshuo and we're doing a special river cruise down the Li River.
So this tour is going to be an hour and a half long and we're going to get to enjoy some pretty stunning landscapes, so I'm pretty excited about it.
When I came here two years ago it was hazy and foggy. Now it's a gorgeous glorious day.
Here we are at the Longji Rice Fields which are located just outside of Guilin. We've had such good luck. Check out the weather and the views behind.
So this is the Guilin main square. It gets really busy here at night. Lots of shops, restaurants, eateries. You can do it all here.

So we are now at the lake and the main attraction are the these two pagodas that light up at night.

Oh, that mapo tofu looks so good. Really generous sized portion.
Well, it's hard to believe but our time in Hong Kong has already expired. Today we're taking a train ride. Where are we going? We're crossing over into China.
We are in Guangzho. Apparently there are two train stations. We arrived at the one that is on the East End of the City and we had to get across town to the other and it was difficult but we need to keep going.
So right now we are in Guangzho station waiting for our train to Guilin. And we happen to be waiting in the VIP room.
There is no tea in this tea room.
We're going to Guilin.
Uh, we're looking for number ten.
So we're in the dining cart now getting ready to have dinner. Let's see what is on the menu if we can even read it. We barely got a seat here.
Decision time. So we did manage to find an English menu which makes things a lot easier.
Fish one. Tofu with pork. One. Okay. Rice. One Rice? Okay. Beer. One. Okay. Ah, green tea - one. okay.
So this is the friend fish with a sweet and sour sauce.
Good morning. We are almost in Guilin. Our train has been delayed about an hour and a half.

This is my vision of a great travel through cities, mountains, rivers and villages in Guizhou and Guangxi provinces in China.I began my travel from Hong Kong and Shenzhen by train and bus. This video shows the modernism and the culture of Guizhou and Guangxi, the souls of the ethies people ( miao Shui and Hmong people in the villages ) and the atmospheres of the beautiful landscapes.
I have filmed in Guiyang during two days and on the road in Guizhou province in different villages:
Langde, Sandu, Rongjiang, Tingdong, Jiabang and the rices field, but also Baisha in Shiqian Country , around Baisha, Zhaoxing, Matang and Jidao Miao Village. I have seen beautiful sunsets, beautiful mountains and meet nice people in Yangshuo and around ( Xingping fishing village ).
I travel alone with my camera and DSLR equipments around the world, often in Asia.

China is a vast country with a seemingly endless variety of landscapes. From the modern skylines of Shanghai and Hong Kong to the ancient city walls of Xi'an, the former capital of the 'Middle Kingdom'. Imposing rice terraces contrast with stark desert scenery, massive coal factories rub shoulders with newly built cities.
I have been privileged to visit China a number of times in the last decade or so, usually with a photo- and or video camera in hand, trying to capture glimpses of this ever evolving nation. Earlier this year, I took the opportunity to travel across the country for another 3 months, focusing primarily on aerial photography and filming.
This little adventure took me from the Northern 'rust belt provinces' to the beautiful mountain landscapes of national parks like Zhangjiajie (often named as an inspiration for the popular Avatar movie) and Jiuzhaigou. I also visited some cities to gain an aerial perspective of China's urban development, and came across several major infrastructure projects. The rural backwaters in Guangxi province were a personal favorite to explore, with the surreal Dragon's Backbone rice terraces and karst scenery around Guilin.
I edited some of this material into one single clip, trying to show some of the diversity I came across. The drone I traveled around with was the DJI Phantom 4.
You will find footage from the following places in this clip (in no particular order): Zhangjiajie national park, the Yangtze River (Three Gorges), Dunhuang (sand dunes and solar panels), Guazhou (wind turbines), Hebei province (Great Wall of China), Dazhai (Dragon's Backbone rice terraces), Fujian province (Hakka 'tulou' round houses), Pingyao, Changsha (Mao Zedong memorial), Liaoning province (several industrial sites and 'ghost cities'), Guangzhou (Evergrande football stadium), Hong Kong, Shanghai, Jishou (Aizhai bridge), Hainan island, Chongqing, Guilin, Jiuzhaigou national park, Zhengzhou, Linxia (golden domed mosque), Zhangye national park, Macau, Hukou waterfalls, and Shenzhen.

New worldrecord in slacklining by Alexander Schulz. He walked a 375m long and about 100m high slackline which had been rigged between two giant limestone rocks in Yangshuo, a town in the province of Guangxi.
This is the trailer for the upcoming documentary about the trip to China and the world record. It will be released in winter/spring and can be watched here.

Guangxi is an autonomous region in southern China bordering Vietnam, about the same size as the state of Minnesota. The area is known for its rivers, lakes, caves, and Karst formations. Cruises on the Li Jiang River connect Guilin and Yangshuo, two cities punctuated by toothlike Karst peaks. Guilin is the site of Ludi Yan (Reed Flute Cave), a limestone cavern noted for its stalagtites and stalagmites. It is one of the most famous “Karst Topography” in China and much like the province of Quintana Roo, Mexico, it is like swiss cheese and has a ton of caves. The local people say "it's like you have a lot of sunroofs in your house."
