This video is only about me talking about why I still like my 5D Mark II even it is already such an old camera... Sure, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is a very old camera but I think that just because it is old and discontinued, it does not mean that it is a bad camera by any means... I still like the camera for what it does, and it still takes some really nice video and pictures, and it does what it promises and it does it really really well!

In this video, I test the new RAW video recording with the Canon 5D mark ii. Raw video recording gives you uncompressed video, which looks like it was shot with a big budget camera! To achieve this, you need to download and install the Magic Lantern hack in to your camera, and download the RAW build. You can read more about it here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/
PS. Be careful when installing the hack, because it may damage your camera.
Since the RAW hack on the Canon 5D mark ii doesn't support FULL HD video capture when using the whole sensor, I shot everything in 2.35:1. To capture RAW video, you need a really fast CF/SD card. It's quite complicated to work with the RAW files in post production, but since it's RAW, it's a dream to colorcorrect the videos :)

Ryan Connolly did good comparison of these cameras some time ago, but since I like to do my own testing I thought I would run some similar tests. I found similar results to what Ryan found, except I didn't see that the T2i was more saturated than the 5D. Color and saturation are so similar you could easily mix both footage
You might be asking, "Dave, why are you comparing the 5D mark II to the 550D when the mark 3 is coming soon?
Yes it is true that the 5D in terms of features almost feels historic when compared to it's little cropped frame brothers when it lacks a ton of cool features like focus points faster shutter drive a level built in zoom, tilt out screen. But the reason the 5D is Canon's flag ship product for professionals is because of the full frame.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III
The Canon EOS 5D Mark III is a professional full-frame digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera made by Canon. It has a 22.3 megapixel CMOS image sensor.
Succeeding the EOS 5D Mark II, it was announced on 2 March 2012, the 25th anniversary of the announcement of the first camera in the EOS line, the EOS 650. It was also Canon's 75th anniversary. The Mark III went on sale later in March with a retail price of $3,499 in the US, £2999 in the UK, and €3569 in the Eurozone.

How good is RAW video? (Canon 5D mark ii)
In this video, I test the new RAW video recording with the Canon 5D mark ii. Raw video recording gives you uncompressed video, which looks like it was shot with a big budget camera! To achieve this, you need to download and install the Magic Lantern hack in to your camera, and download the RAW build. You can read more about it here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/ PS. Be careful when installing the hack, because it may damage your camera. Since the RAW hack on the Canon 5D mark ii doesn't support FULL HD video capture when using the whole sensor, I shot everything in 2.35:1. To capture RAW video, you need a really fast CF/SD card. Since the RAW hack on the Canon 5D mark ii doesn't support FULL HD video capture when using the whole sensor, I shot everything in 2.35:1. To capture RAW video, you need a really fast CF/SD card. It's quite complicated to work with the RAW files in post production, but since it's RAW, it's a dream to colorcorrect the videos :)

I found similar results to what Ryan found, except I didn't see that the T2i was more saturated than the 5D. Color and saturation are so similar you could easily mix both footage

In this video, I test the new RAW video recording with the Canon 5D mark ii. Raw video recording gives you uncompressed video, which looks like it was shot with a big budget camera! To achieve this, you need to download and install the Magic Lantern hack in to your camera, and download the RAW build. You can read more about it here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/
PS. Be careful when installing the hack, because it may damage your camera.
Since the RAW hack on the Canon 5D mark ii doesn't support FULL HD video capture when using the whole sensor, I shot everything in 2.35:1. To capture RAW video, you need a really fast CF/SD card. It's quite complicated to work with the RAW files in post production, but since it's RAW, it's a dream to colorcorrect the videos :)
Thomas Leypoldt is a composer, and he have made the music for several of my videos. He does actually have a Youtube channel where he uploads his great filmatic soundtracks. Ryan Connolly did good comparison of these cameras some time ago, but since I like to do my own testing I thought I would run some similar tests. I found similar results to what Ryan found, except I didn't see that the T2i was more saturated than the 5D. Color and saturation are so similar you could easily mix both footage

Yes it is true that the 5D in terms of features almost feels historic when compared to it's little cropped frame brothers when it lacks a ton of cool features like focus points faster shutter drive a level built in zoom, tilt out screen. But the reason the 5D is Canon's flag ship product for professionals is because of the full frame.
