David Bowie is to land a spot on Broadway almost two years after his death.
And no, it's not a musical based on the Thin White Duke's life. Instead, the music icon has an original song in the upcoming stage adaption of – yes, you're reading this correctly – SpongeBob SquarePants.

Bowie's song No Control, from his 1995 collaboration with Brian Eno on the concept album Outside, will feature alongside tracks from other artists including Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, the Flaming Lips and Panic! At the Disco in the SpongeBob musical.
The hit children's-show-turned-musical premiered in Chicago last year, but is now heading to Broadway, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bowie was reportedly a fan of the SpongeBob SquarePants, which debuted in 1999 and is Nickelodeon's highest-rating television series of all time. The franchise has spawned two films – with a third on the way – not to mention billions of dollars worth of merchandise.
The Ziggy Stardust star even lent his voice to a 2007 episode of the critically acclaimed TV series, portraying the lipstick-wearing emperor of Atlantis, a character named Lord Royal Highness.
The Broadway adaption will tell the story of how SpongeBob's home, Bikini Bottom, is under threat from a deadly underwater volcano.
"Chaos erupts," the musical's website promises. "Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes centre stage."
Bowie's song is set to feature in the first act. The Broadway adaption will also feature contributions from the likes of Cyndi Lauper and the Flaming Lips.
The SpongeBob SquarePants musical will open at Broadway's Palace Theatre in December, ahead of the Christmas holidays.
