While we’re not suggesting that purchasing a costume from Opera Australia will improve one’s enthusiastic amateur performances, it couldn’t hurt. The company has dug through its 60-year-old archive for its week-long auction of memorabilia this month. Costumes up for bidding include those from Baz Luhrmann’s famous 1990 production of La Bohème and several worn by Yvonne Kenny, AM. Pictured is the tulle and lace number in which David Hibbard played the role of Fleville in 2001 (auction price guide $2500 to $3500).
