This is a short film I wrote produced and directed in 2006/2007 with a couple of friends. It was my first short, shot in SD with Canon XL1, edited in FCP and graded by a friend using Colour. I had this idea in mind for sometime, along with a few others about the difficult relationship between this teenage girl and her stepmother. Originally I thought this was going to be just one scene of a much longer narrative, perhaps a feature. This particular scene seemed to have all the characteristics to be a strong short story in its own right. I decided to write it as standalone script. The budget was no more than £50 pounds. We borrowed the equipment and mainly spent it on food and refreshments for the cast & crew. The biggest challenge was to find a house with a grand piano for free. Screening...
These strings of banners are an outdoor art installation designed for a place called Lawrie's Den, a limestone headland about a mile East of Dunbar along the John Muir Path. They're intended as a meditation on global warming and a memorial to some of the things it will affect: snow and tide lines. The flags are silk-screened white on white with five different patterns resembling snowflakes, containing images such as snowbound woods, seabirds and hurricanes. The overall form of the banners came from Tibetan prayer flags, which are traditionally hung high in the Himalayas where storms destroy them, releasing the prayers written on them to the wind. The banners are printed on cotton with non-toxic ink so they will biodegrade without contributing to coastal pollution.

Interview with Feo Aladag about producing writing directing her first feature film DIE FREMDE/WHEN WE LEAVE
Lucy won't you come out of bed
I know you miss our love
It makes you sleepy and sad
Lucy aren't you scared of mediocrity
Just like me
Lucy you know you're driving me mad
Your smile is so much better than the one
Here in my magazine and I do agree
We put up with too much apathy
Lucy I need you to be a man
Be a man lucy I mean it well
Lucy I need you to be a man
You can't be a girl right now
But you can be a girl again
Lucy I wrote you many-a-song
You are the girl of my dreams
You are my dream of a girl
Lucy oh the way you move to new york wave
Put on your ballet shoes
And wipe those tears away
You're so much better than all the dolls
In my magazines and I do agree that we
Put up with too much apathy
Lucy I need you to be a man
Be a man lucy I mean it well
Lucy I need you to be a man
You can't be a girl right now
But you can be a girl again
Your smile is so much better than the one
Here in my magazine and I do agree
We put up with too much apathy
Won't you turn into a girl again
I need you to be a man
Be a man lucy I mean it well
Lucy I need you to be a man
Be a man lucy I mean it well
Lucy I need you to be a man
You can't be a girl
Not right now
