Citizenship of the European Union was introduced by the Maastricht Treaty, which was signed in 1992, and has been in force since 1993. European Union citizenship is supplementary to national citizenship and affords rights such as the right to vote in European elections, the right to free movement, settlement and employment across the EU, and the right to consular protection by other EU states' embassies when a person's country of citizenship does not maintain an embassy or consulate in the country they need protection in.
EU citizenship as a distinct concept was first introduced by the Maastricht Treaty, and was extended by the Treaty of Amsterdam. Prior to the 1992 Maastricht Treaty, the European Communities treaties provided guarantees for the free movement of economically active persons, but not, generally, for others. The 1951 Treaty of Paris establishing the European Coal and Steel Community established a right to free movement for workers in these industries and the 1957 Treaty of Rome provided for the free movement of workers and services.
The European Union (EU) is a politico-economic union of 28 member states that are located primarily in Europe. It covers an area of 4,324,782 km2, with an estimated population of over 508 million. The EU operates through a system of supranational institutions and intergovernmental-negotiated decisions by the member states. The institutions are: the European Parliament, the European Council, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Central Bank, and the Court of Auditors. The European Parliament is elected every five years by EU citizens.
The EU has developed an internal single market through a standardised system of laws that apply in all member states. Within the Schengen Area, passport controls have been abolished. EU policies aim to ensure the free movement of people, goods, services, and capital, enact legislation in justice and home affairs, and maintain common policies on trade, agriculture, fisheries, and regional development. The monetary union was established in 1999 and came into full force in 2002. It is currently composed of 19 member states that use the euro as their legal tender.

Some things in life are overrated. EU citizenship is not one of them. Being a citizen of the European Union opens up more than just borders to its residents. You can build your life in another EU country. You have rights as a student, worker, job seeker and pensioner in any Member State. You even have the opportunity to raise your family in your adopted home too. This video has been recorded as contribution to the virtual exchange programme EUROPE ON THE EDGE organised by the Sharing Perspectives Foundation. Key questions addressed in this video are: 1. Who is the EU citizen? How is the European individual constructed? 2. What are the political rights of the EU citizen? 3. What is the relevance of the Court of Justice of the European Union for the configuration of the EU citizen as a member of a transnational polity?
http://ec.europa.eu/citizenship/index_en.html The EU's Europe for citizens programme seeks to bridge the perceived gap between the general public and the institutions of the European Union. From 2007 to 2013, it will fund activities which promote active European citizenship, build an inclusive European identity and promote common ownership of the European project. It puts citizens in the spotlight and responds to the need to improve citizen participation in the construction of Europe.

"System Error: ID not found" represents a young, hopeful individual, who is being misunderstood and dehumanized by institutional entities as he expresses his identity. We are trying to create an atmosphere where the viewer can sense and feel solitude, disrespect, emptiness and lack of empathy for fellow individuals – all feelings we are sad to say we feel as European citizens. The young person is aiming to represent European citizenship as we believe it should be; a new gateway to cultural diversity, a path to endless possibilities. This one-day seminar attempts to fill this gap by debating the observable and expected consequences of a radically changed relationship between the UK and the EU, focusing specifically on those whose lives ...

I blows minds for the most times, I shall climb
with these Organized Rhymes
And I'm rippin to make history this time
but I'm still hard to find, and I'm steady waxin to shine
(wax on.. wax off)
Chorus: Militia
Organized Rhymes keep rippin the sound
with the Militia, and we straight puttin it down
Organized Rhymes keep rippin the sound
with the Militia, and we straight puttin it down
Organized Rhymes keep rippin the sound
with the Militia, and we straight puttin it down
Organized Rhymes keep rippin the sound
with the Militia.. with the Militia..

Clear to circumfrence, seven CC's for heart pumpin
Lyrically dumpin, MC's ain't sayin nothin
They frontin, soft as a panda, propoganda
Bullshittin they buntin, I'm home run hittin
They fouled, fools is out of the game
Magnified picture, blown out of the frame
360 is 9 baby, equal to verb
Close the first two, proceed, open the third
Hutton, E.F., when illuminati speak
Infrared peep and seek your body heat
like Eraser, spark the spliff and uplift
Yeah shift, steady movin swift with the four-fifth
While all you actors get run over by tractors
The common factor, will use math to subtract you
Minus, my rhyme flows they be timeless
You're spineless, tell your boy to rewind this
Wherever I go, MC's catch heart attacks
Trails are found with fossils and artifacts
A variety of herbal, a garden like Eden
Get your first aid kit, my nia, you bleedin, WHAAAT?
