It has land borders with Sweden and Norway to the north and Russia to the east. Finland is part of the geographic region of Fennoscandia, which also includes Scandinavia and parts of Russia.
Finland's population is 5.5 million (2014), staying roughly on the same level with only about 9% increase in 24 years since the last economic depression in 1990. The majority live in the southern regions. The single largest group of foreigners living in Finland are Russians and Estonians, 36% of all of the foreigners (2014). In terms of area, it is the eighth largest country in Europe and the most sparsely populated country in the European Union. Finland is a parliamentary republic with a central government based in the capital Helsinki, local governments in 317 municipalities, and an autonomous region, the Åland Islands. Over 1.4 million people live in the Greater Helsinki metropolitan area, which produces a third of the country's GDP. Other large cities include Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Lahti, and Kuopio.
Helsinki Airport or Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (IATA: HEL, ICAO: EFHK; Finnish: Helsinki-Vantaan lentoasema, Swedish: Helsingfors-Vanda flygplats) is the main international airport of the Helsinki metropolitan region and the whole of Finland with about 16 million passengers annually. This number makes up for 81% of the total number of passengers in Finland's 21 commercial airports combined (18,880,940). making it the busiest airport in Finland by far. It provides jobs for 20,000 people and there are 1,500 companies that operate at this airport. The airport is operated by Finavia, the state-owned enterprise that operates Finland's airports.

(29 Apr 2017) Hobby horse enthusiasts from all over Finland gathered in Vantaa on Saturday for annual championships. This year's main event took place at a packed sports hall attracting an estimated 1,000 spectators to watch some 200 participants competing with their hobby horses in several sub-categories. Riders, almost all girls aged mostly between 10-18, competed in sports that simulate traditional equestrian events like dressage and show jumping. For show jumping, competitors were divided by age into several groups that all had their own winners announced after each group had finished. The vast majority of the hobby horses are home-made - splendidly pimped-up, colourful creatures complete with names like Chattanooga Choo Choo and Panda - exchanged and sold by owners at events and...

We are at Helsinki Vantaa Airport in Finland. This i a short tour inside the airport where we begin at the Finnair Check-in area in Terminal 2, move down to the check-in area for all flights (also in Terminal 2), where the Junkers A50 aircraft (registration OH-ABB) flown by Finnish aviation pioneer Väinö Bremer hangs on display. From this are we move back to the Finnair check-in area and check in at the Priority Check-in area as our Finnair flight to day is on Business Class. This also means that we will not be passing through the economy class security check but through the Premium Security Control. We then continue our tour in the departures hall where we give viewers a tour through some of the airport highlighting some of the Duty Free shops, specialty shops, restaurants, bars, cafes an...

http://bookinghunter.com Helsinki is the capital and largest city of Finland. Helsinki is spread across a number of bays and peninsulas and over a number of islands. The inner city area occupies a southern peninsula, which is rarely referred to by its actual name Vironniemi. The most important places to visit in Helsinki are: Helsinki Cathedral (one of the most iconic landmarks of Helsinki. A neoclassical styled 19th century church, it is a must see for all visitors), Suomenlinna Island (short ferry ride from Helsinki, it has an imposing 19th century fortress. The site is on the UNESCO world heritage list), Uspenski Cathedral (built in 1868, it is Western Europe's largest Orthodox church. Russia's influence is evident in it is red façade), National Museum of Finland (located in a gorgeou...

I visited the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. I just wanted to see the place - I was not going to fly anywhere. I am not used to flying - I have never done any holiday travel by airplane. And I have never travelled from this airport. -------- This is in practise the only major international airport in Finland - and the only big airport. In practise if you want to fly somewhere from/to Helsinki or come here your journey will start here. It seems that check in etc. should be done by yourself, not much service. And I must say that I did not get idea how to travel by Finnair because there was no check-in. Ukrainan airlines and Turkish airlindes would have bee clear because they had check-in desks. I was also looking for the public observation platform which should be somewhere - I did not fin...
