James Albert "Jim" Beard (born 1924) is a significant Wellington architect, town planner, and landscape architect. He was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. A Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Architects since 1969 has in the past been closely involved in the institute at a national level. Including the Education Committee (1968–1970), Publications Committee (1965–1969), Journal Committee (1963–1964) and Library and Journal Committee (1964–1965). He was the President of the Wellington Architectural Centre (1962), a Committee Member (1958–1960, 1982–1986), and is currently a life member. His service to the design community also included involvement with the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Designers, and the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects, of which he has been an Honorary Fellow since 1998.
James Andrew Beard (May 5, 1903 – January 21, 1985) was an American cookbook author, teacher, syndicated columnist and television personality. Beard was a champion of American cuisine who taught and mentored generations of professional chefs and food enthusiasts. His legacy lives on in twenty books, other writings and his foundation's annual James Beard awards in a number of culinary genres.
James Andrew Beard was born in Portland, Oregon in 1903 to Elizabeth and John Beard. His mother operated the Gladstone Hotel, and his father worked at the city's customs house. The family vacationed on the Pacific coast in Gearhart, Oregon, where Beard was exposed to Pacific Northwest cuisine.
Common ingredients of this cuisine are salmon, shellfish and other fresh seafood; game meats such as moose, elk, or venison; mushrooms, berries, small fruits, potatoes, kale and wild plants such as fiddleheads or young pushki (Heracleum maximum, or cow parsnip).
Beard's earliest memory of food was at the 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition, when he was two years old. In his memoir he recalled:
American Masters is a PBS television show which produces biographies on artists, actors and writers of the United States who have left a profound impact on the nation's popular culture. It is produced by WNET in New York City. The show debuted on PBS in 1986.
Groups or organizations featured include: Actors Studio, Algonquin Round Table, Group Theatre, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Women of Tin Pan Alley, Negro Ensemble Company, Juilliard School, the Beat Generation, The Singer-songwriters of the 1970s, Sun Records, Vaudeville, and Warner Bros.
American Masters, a series "devoted to America's 'greatest native-born and adopted' artists", was originally scheduled to premier in September 1985; for "logistical scheduling reasons" the premiere was delayed until summer 1986, though on October 16, 1985, an American Masters "special" called Aaron Copland: A Self-Portrait was aired.
The first of the 15 first-season episodes was Private Conversations, a "cinema-verite documentary by Christian Blackwood done in that trickiest of cinematic forms: a film about a film, in this instance the television version of Death of a Salesman, directed by Volker Schlöndorff". It aired on June 23, 1986, as one of two episodes not specifically commissioned for the show's first season.
CBS This Morning is an American morning television program that is broadcast on CBS. The program, which shares its title with a more traditionally formatted morning program that aired on the network from 1987 to 1999, airs Monday through Saturdays from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. in all time zones (airing live in the Eastern Time Zone and on tape-delay in the Central and Mountain Time Zones; stations in the Pacific Time Zone receive an updated feed with a specialized opening and updated live reports). It is the tenth distinct morning news-features program format that CBS has aired since 1954, having replaced The Early Show on January 9, 2012.
The weekday edition of the program is currently anchored by Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. The program emphasizes general national and international news stories and in-depth reports throughout each edition, although it also includes live in-studio and pre-taped interviews. The format was chosen as an alternative to the soft news and lifestyle-driven formats of competitors Today and Good Morning America following the first hour or half-hour of those broadcasts, in an attempt to give the program a competitive edge with its hard news format (CBS has historically placed third in the ratings among the network morning shows).

Braveheart recently won the James Beard Award for the quality in there steaks. Today we put it to the test! To Sous Vide, or not to sous vide? That was the question. We took two Braveheart ribeye's, and compared them side by side. One completely raw, and one sous vide medium rare. With a little salt and pepper, I picked them up on the grill. Let them rest for 5 minutes or so, and did a cut test. They were judged on chew, tenderness, flavor, consistency, appearance, and pickup time. Braveheart has proven itself with the NY strip, and again with the ribeye. Stay tuned for the final result! Feel free to like or Subscribe to Food fox chef John Tapper II. Thanks for watching!

When Ruth Rogers and Rose Gray opened London's River Cafe almost 30 years ago they had more children between them than they had years of experience running a restaurant. There were additional obstacles, too: their location, in Hammersmith, was out of the way; their ingredients, all authentically Italian, were hard to get; and they didn't even have the proper permit to serve the general public. In the decades since, the River Cafe has become one of London's defining restaurants: cherished for its fresh Italian flavors, its bright design and its always-energized room. Over the years, Rogers has become a master of her trade, t...

James Harden has come a long way establishing himself as one of the best players in the NBA.. His stile makes him unique, or, how he would define himself, the unnormal. The Beard signed a 200 million dollar deal with adidas and his new signature shoe has been revealed and he is one of the early MVP candidates this season. Watch the story of this mysterious NBA superstar from the struggle to high school to college and to the NBA.
James Beard, called "the quintessential American cook" by Julia Child, laid the groundwork for the gastronomical revolution that surged in the second half of the 20th century. Beard trained as an actor but found his life's work in food: he was the author of 27 cookbooks, founded his own cooking school, and made history in 1946 by hosting the first cooking show on television. Anointed the "dean of American cookery" by the New York Times, Beard is now associated with the best in American restaurants and cooking. His most important legacy is his celebration of American food and food traditions. The Food Studies program at The New School draws on a range of disciplines to explore the connections between food and the environment, politics, history, and culture.
