Analogue synthesizer from 1986. Digitally controlled analogue oscillators (DCOs) with 6 voices, sub osc and a 24 dB analogue lowpass filter. A nice low bugdet synth that is perhaps not as good as a Juno 60 or a JX-8P but still pretty nice sounding. In this demo I use additional FX from TC Electronic M350. Enjoy!

Synthesizer demo of the analog synthesizer Roland Alpha Juno(1) from 1985.
In this movie I play some of my own sounds - on some sounds I used a small amount of digital delay from a Korg SDD-3000 or reverb from a Lexicon MPX-500. But no compressors or eq.
The Alpha Juno has a similar voice architecture to the earlier Junos - but on the Alpha some things were enhanced: backlit display, variable chorus speed, a more complex envelope, the envelope can be routed to the pitch, additional waveforms for DCO and sub oscillator, the PWM has its own dedicated LFO, key velocity and aftertouch (can be routed to filter or/and volume).

whoops, the front page says 60, but this was my 6, not my 60...whoops
I'm comparing these two synths, and also illustrating using the VCF (filter frequency) external control and controlling the arpeggiator clock with a xoxbox that synced to ableton to keep the Juno 6 in time with my DAW without using any midi.
This isn't meant to be an artistic thing, more of just showing what these two synths can do technically. Hit me up with any questions you have in the comments.

I played all sounds dry without any external effects.
The Roland Alpha Juno-1 is an great analog, polyphonic, programmable synthesizer with MIDI. It came out 1985. Like all Junos, it has 1 oscillator and 1 suboscillator per voice. It also has a resonant 24 dB lowpassfilter as well as a highpass filter. The chorus effect is better than on earlier Junos - the modulation speed is variable.
The "tone modify" on the front panel allows someting like "easy edit" to tweak sounds easily (MOD RATE, MOD DEPTH, BRILLIANCE, ENV TIME). The most comfortable way to tweak sounds is using a programmer - but it also works with the alpha dial wheel.
To be honest, the best Juno sound comes from the Juno-6/60. Somewhat less fat sound offers the Juno-106, following the Alpha Juno series with the (relatively) weakest Juno sound. But don't get me wrong, the Alphas are anything but weak sounding - it's just that the Juno-60/6 have an insanely great sound, which can be topped at best by the Jupiter-8. But the Alpha Junos offer a decent sound and are affordable, compact and lightweight.

Hi! This is a video of my Roland Alpha Juno 1 and the patches that I have made for it. The Alpha Juno is an underrated synth and with a little programming, you can have some nice, warm sounds that fit really well in the mix. My Alpha Juno is controlled by the CZ-5000 due to a missing pitch bend. :( My poor Juno. It came to me that way. All else works fine. I also have noticed some soldering burns on the main board and also when I opened it to clean it , the circuit board was gray from dust and it is now is a beautiful bright green. The keys were gross and had to be cleaned with alcohol and water. Its been through a lot in it's life, and is a good little Juno! :)

A nice low bugdet synth that is perhaps not as good as a Juno 60 or a JX-8P but still pretty nice sounding. In this demo I use additional FX from TC Electronic M350. Enjoy!

Synthesizer demo of the analog synthesizer Roland Alpha Juno(1) from 1985.
In this movie I play some of my own sounds - on some sounds I used a small amount of digital delay from a Korg SDD-3000 or reverb from a Lexicon MPX-500. But no compressors or eq.
The Alpha Juno has a similar voice architecture to the earlier Junos - but on the Alpha some things were enhanced: backlit display, variable chorus speed, a more complex envelope, the envelope can be routed to the pitch, additional waveforms for DCO and sub oscillator, the PWM has its own dedicated LFO, key velocity and aftertouch (can be routed to filter or/and volume).

I'm comparing these two synths, and also illustrating using the VCF (filter frequency) external control and controlling the arpeggiator clock with a xoxbox that synced to ableton to keep the Juno 6 in time with my DAW without using any midi.

The Roland Alpha Juno-1 is an great analog, polyphonic, programmable synthesizer with MIDI. It came out 1985. Like all Junos, it has 1 oscillator and 1 suboscillator per voice. It also has a resonant 24 dB lowpassfilter as well as a highpass filter. The chorus effect is better than on earlier Junos - the modulation speed is variable.
The "tone modify" on the front panel allows someting like "easy edit" to tweak sounds easily (MOD RATE, MOD DEPTH, BRILLIANCE, ENV TIME). The most comfortable way to tweak sounds is using a programmer - but it also works with the alpha dial wheel.
To be honest, the best Juno sound comes from the Juno-6/60. Somewhat less fat sound offers the Juno-106, following the Alpha Juno series with the (relatively) weakest Juno sound. But don't get me wrong, the Alphas are anything but weak sounding - it's just that the Juno-60/6 have an insanely great sound, which can be topped at best by the Jupiter-8. But the Alpha Junos offer a decent sound and are affordable, compact and lightweight.

Hi! This is a video of my Roland Alpha Juno 1 and the patches that I have made for it. The Alpha Juno is an underrated synth and with a little programming, you can have some nice, warm sounds that fit really well in the mix. My Alpha Juno is controlled by the CZ-5000 due to a missing pitch bend. :( My poor Juno. It came to me that way. All else works fine. I also have noticed some soldering burns on the main board and also when I opened it to clean it , the circuit board was gray from dust and it is now is a beautiful bright green. The keys were gross and had to be cleaned with alcohol and water. Its been through a lot in it's life, and is a good little Juno! :)

Early hardcore, Gabba or Gabber (/ˈɡæbər/; from Dutch: [ˈxɑbər]) is a style of electronic music and a subgenre of hardcore. "Gabber" is an Amsterdam slang word of Bargoens and Yiddish origin (cf. chaver) that means "mate", "buddy", "pal" or "friend".
Although a house variant from Detroit reached Amsterdam in the late 1980s, it was the producers and DJs from Rotterdam who evolved it into a harder house variant which is today known as "Gabber".
The specific sound of Rotterdam was also created as a reaction to the house scene of Amsterdam which was seen as "snobby and pretentious". Though house tracks from Frankfurt's Marc Acardipane were quite similar to the Rotterdam style, it was the popularity of this music in the Netherlands which made Rotterdam the cradle of early hardcore. The essence of the early hardcore sound is a distorted bass drum sound, overdriven to the point where it becomes clipped into a distorted square wave and makes a recognizably melodic tone.
Often the Roland Alpha Juno or the kick from a Roland TR-909 was used to create this sound. Early hardcore tracks typically include samples and synthesised melodies with the typical tempo ranging from 180 to 220 bpm. Drugs and profanity are common themes in early hardcore, perceptible through its samples and lyrics, often screamed, pitch shifted, or distorted.
Early hardcore was popular in many countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Italy. In the late 1990s, the early hardcore became less popular than the Hardstyle. After surviving underground for a number of years, in 2002 the style reappeared in the Netherlands in a new form, the mainstream hardcore. The sound becomes more mature, darker, and industrial and derives.

Being 45 now, my main influences come from the 80's, when I was a teenager I consumed crazily all the sounds of that era, from Synth pop and EBM to Gothic Rock, let's say that Depeche Mode was my principal influence.
ø2 - What is your producing set up?
My set up is based 90% in old analogue synthesizers and drum machines and 10% digital technology, it's the perfect hybrid for me. On the analogue side there are:

My main project now is preparing my debut at Berghain on September 19th, it's gonna be a very special point in my career and I'm now selecting the weapons for that 4 hours, balancing between my vinyl collection and new stuff. My main project apart from this is managing the panel Sub tl with my partner Leandro Gámez. We have quite a fast schedule of one release a month and that keeps us really busy. Also I'm working for Pole Group writing their promo texts and release notes, and in my spare time I love to Mountain Bike. An easy life.

ø3 - Some words about your upcoming releases and projects?
My main project now is preparing my debut at Berghain on September 19th, it's gonna be a very special point in my career and I'm now selecting the weapons for that 4 hours, balancing between my vinyl collection and new stuff. My main project apart from this is managing the panel Sub tl with my partner Leandro Gámez. We have quite a fast schedule of one release a month and that keeps us really busy. Also I'm working for Pole Group writing their promo texts and release notes, and in my spare time I love to Mountain Bike. An easy life.
