XTC were a new wave rock band from Swindon, England, led by songwriters Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding and active between 1976 and 2005. The band enjoyed some chart success, including the UK and Canadian hits "Making Plans for Nigel" (1979) and "Senses Working Overtime" (1982).
XTC were a performing and touring band up until 1982. For the remaining twenty-three years of XTC's existence they were a studio-based project involving session players around a nucleus of Partridge, Moulding and Dave Gregory.
First coming together in 1972, Colin Moulding (bass & vocals) and Terry Chambers (drums) asked Andy Partridge (guitars & vocals) to join their new band and went through many band names (including The Helium Kidz and Star Park) over the next five years. As the Helium Kidz, they were featured in a small NME article as an up-and-coming band from Swindon. Drawing influence from the New York Dolls, particularly the "Jetboy" single, and the emerging New York punk scene, they played glam rock with homemade costumes and slowly built up a following. Keyboard player Barry Andrews joined in 1976, and the band finally settled on a name: XTC.
Overtime is the amount of time someone works beyond normal working hours. Normal hours may be determined in several ways:
Most nations have overtime labor laws designed to dissuade or prevent employers from forcing their employees to work excessively long hours. These laws may take into account other considerations than the humanitarian, such as preserving the health of workers so that they may continue to be productive, or increasing the overall level of employment in the economy. One common approach to regulating overtime is to require employers to pay workers at a higher hourly rate for overtime work. Companies may choose to pay workers higher overtime pay even if not obliged to do so by law, particularly if they believe that they face a backward bending supply curve of labour.
Overtime pay rates can cause workers to work longer hours than they would at a flat hourly rate. Overtime laws, attitudes toward overtime and hours of work vary greatly from country to country and between different economic sectors.

Stefan Kozalla, better known as DJ Koze, is a German DJ and music producer. Born in Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, he first became known in the Hamburg music scene. Kozalla competed in his first mixing competition in 1988 at the age of sixteen. He was part of German hip-hop act Fischmob in the 1990s, while also recording under the name Adolf Noise. He began recording under the DJ Koze moniker in the 2000s, releasing music through the German electronic label Kompakt. He recorded three full-length albums during that decade, as well as numerous singles and remixes. He started his own recording label, Pampa, in 2010, and released his latest full-length recording, Amygdala in 2013, which reached #61 in the German Albums Chart.
"Senses Working Overtime" is a single by XTC released in 1982. In the U.K., it hit the Top Ten and helped English Settlement reach #5 on the album charts, but it would also be their last Top 40 entry for a decade.
It has subsequently been covered by both Spacehog on the XTC tribute album A Testimonial Dinner: The Songs of XTC and by Mandy Moore on Coverage.
The video for "Senses Working Overtime" shows the band performing the song in an empty (minus the band and their instruments, amps, etc.) yet colorful room. The video was released on the Look Look video compilation.
On the 12" release, "Egyptian Solution (Thebes in a Box) (Homo Safari #3)" (Partridge) was added to the A-side as track 2; the B-side comprised "Blame the Weather" and "Tissue Tigers" on both 7" and 12".
"Senses Working Overtime" was the second official single released from Moore's fourth studio album Coverage. It was only released in the United States as a digital single and is a live version from the Sessions@AOL performance. In 2004, the label included "Senses Working Overtime" in the first compilation of Mandy Moore, The Best of Mandy Moore. Later, in 2007, included the single in the deluxe edition of the second artist compilation album, Super Hits.

XTC-Dear God
XTC / Pampa Records [PAMPA024] Released: 2015-06-19 DJ Koze's 2013 album opus Amygdala has continued to bewitch all who encounter it since its release. Tipped as his own personal Sgt. Pepper, the sublime long-player revealed a fully-realised and personal body of work, complete with a classic songwriting at its core, House in its heart, and veins coursing with psychedelic color. La Duquesa' was the album's dreamy single standout, a journey into deep, tropical ecstasy. XTC' begins in the same spirit, and captures the all the blissful allusions of its name, but its initial gentility belies the deep intensity to come. Floating pads glow with celestial ambience as a kick drum is gradually coaxed into solid form, and the introduction of spoken text begins the second act. Many people are experi...

An exclusive interview between XTC and Paul Wilde recorded in Swindon on Saturday 12th August 1989. © 1989 Paul Wilde All rights reserved to the legitimate owner How it came be... During February 1989 I was sat at home listening to the musical genius of XTC with their latest vinyl offering. It crossed my mind that who else in this world over' was feeling the same as I did about the fab three from Swindon? Armed with £50.00 I decided to find out , thus the first ever XTC Convention was contrived. The money secured the venue at 'The Trafford Hall Hotel',Old Trafford in Manchester and the date was set for Saturday 16th September 1989. With the help of Limelight and The Little Express , who I can't thank enough, applications flooded in from all over the globe. It was during July that I was...
Originally released in 1986, Skylarking is seen by many as XTC's finest hour. But let's face it, even if we were talking about one of the band's lesser works this podcast would be a must because XTC main man Andy Partridge graced us with a good couple of hours of his time. He spills the beans on everything from Todd Rundgren, stage fright, Colin Moulding and looking like Napoleon Dynamite at school. He even performs an impromptu song for us! If you're an XTC fan, this is the motherload! Originally posted by Tunetribe: https://soundcloud.com/tunetribe-entertainment/podcast-96 -Video Upload powered by https://www.TunesToTube.com

Programmes of violence,
As entertainment,
Brings the disease into your room.
We know the germ,
Which is man-made in metal,
Is really a key to your own tomb.
Prevention is better than cure,
Bad apples affecting the pure,
You'll gather your senses I'm sure
Then agree to,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
And never more to fire them.
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
And never more desire them.
Children will want them,
Mothers supply them,
As long as your killers are heroes.
And all the media
Will fiddle while rome burns,
Acting like modern-time neros.
Prevention is better than cure,
Bad apples affecting the pure,
You'll gather your senses I'm sure
Then agree to,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
And never more to fire them.
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
And never more desire them.
I'm speaking to the justice league of america.
The u s of a,
Hey you,
Yes you in particular!
When it comes to the judgement day and you're standing at the gates with your weaponry,
You dead go down on one knee,
Clasp your hands in prayer and start quoting me,
'cos we say...
Our father we've managed to contain the epidemic in one place, now,
Let's hope they shoot themselves instead of others,
Help to civilize the race now.
We've trapped the cause of the plague,
In the land of the free and the home of the brave.
If we listen quietly we can hear them shooting from grave to grave.
You ought to,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
And never more to fire them.
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
Melt the guns,
And never more desire them.
