Brazil (i/brəˈzɪl/; Portuguese: Brasil [bɾaˈziw] ), officially the Federative Republic of Brazil (Portuguese: República Federativa do Brasil, listen ), is the largest sovereign state in both South America and the Latin American region. It is the world's fifth-largest country, both by geographical area and by population. It is the largest Portuguese-speaking country in the world, and the only one in the Americas.
Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Brazil has a coastline of 7,491 km (4,655 mi). It borders all other South American countries except Ecuador and Chile and occupies 47.3 percent of the continent of South America. Its Amazon River basin includes a vast tropical forest, home to diverse wildlife, a variety of ecological systems, and extensive natural resources spanning numerous protected habitats. This unique environmental heritage makes Brazil one of 17 megadiverse countries, and is the subject of significant global interest and debate regarding deforestation and environmental protection.

Residents of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil think Olympic tourists stick out like a sore thumb. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/join "From his paddleboard rental tent at the far end of Ipanema Beach, Paulo Vitor Breves has ample opportunity to observe the beachgoing Olympic tourist in his new foreign habitat. Several distinct traits identify the gringo, he noted. Most foreigners pick up their trash instead of leaving it strewn in the sand. The women hide behind towels and awkwardly shimmy out of their bulky outer clothes. And that vast bottom half of the tourist swimsuit always comes as a shocker. “Their bikinis look like underpants,” Breves said. The beaches of Rio are governed by...

The Estrada Real (Royal Road) was the main route for the gold being extracted in the mines around Ouro Preto and being shipped to Europe in the XVIII century. The colonial towns of Tiradentes, São João del Rey and Ouro Preto grew fast around the mines, but were left right after the ending of the gold rush. A small fraction of this same gold funded the building of hundreds of churches in the area. Today the route is a small secondary paved road linking the towns, that are growing back again around tourism and many folkloric/religious festivities. Unfortunatelly the main historical places are being surrounded by a disorderly growth of poor villages. People seeking money...once more! During the presidency of Lula Da Silva, billions of dollars in bribes were taken to allow construction companies to overcharge the government-owned oil company, Petrobras. Now, Brazil has corruption, but it's actually pretty good for a developing country. But the people of Brazil have come to expect more, and they have been left down. Current president, Dilma Rousseff, was chairwoman of Petrobras during the period of corruption, but no one knows whether Lula or Dilma were involved or aware. But Lula was under investigation before Rousseff appointed him to be her chief of staff, a move that means he can no longer be prosecuted by a normal court. I think this whole thing speaks very highly of Brazil. A reckoning had to come, and I'm pleased the citizens are holding the government account...

This documentary's goal is to foment a collaborative environment aiming to enhance the quality of design courses in Brazil. In order to do this, the group carried out interviews with students and professors of some Brazilian states, including design pioneers in the country. The premiere of the documentary took place during the 18th Design Students National Meeting, in Manaus-AM, from June 01 to 07, 2008. After this, several exhibitions and debates on the project have taken place in events and universities throughout the country. Every year a herd of designers from all parts of Brazil graduate from college, and there is always these same disturbing questions: will these young professionals be ready to face all the multiple realities of our country? A report for Bloomberg Television in 2006 concerning The Bronx Museum of the Arts opening of a newly designed exhibition space and the launch of an exhibit looking back at Tropicalia, a movement in the arts in Brazil during the 1960s. While Brooklyn and Queens have for many years been familiar ground for admirers of painting and sculpture, The Bronx remains remote foreign parts in the minds of some art enthusiasts, even some who are well acquainted with the NYC culture circuit. One does NOT need to have an adventurous spirit to visit the Bronx Museum of The Arts, just an interest in finding out new stuff. The museum takes about the same travel time from Columbus Circle as Greenpoint or Astoria. http://www.bronxmuseum.org/
In Brazil, health care is free — by law, everyone has a right to treatment, from organ transplants to sex-change operations. No one benefits more than the poor, and physicians are given incentives and paid up to three times more to work in the poorest areas of Brazil. As a result, infant mortality is down and life expectancy is up, but there are drawbacks. Offering so much has put a strain on the health system. Most of Brazils hospitals are considered substandard, with long waits for procedures. Worldfocus correspondent Edie Magnus and producer Megan Thomspon report from Brazil on the highs and lows of universal health care. Brazil's robust economy has been a source of pride but its decrepit health care system has sparked outrage. Shasta Darlington reports. More from CNN at http://www.cnn.com/
- The Brazilian health system is in theory one of the best in the World. However the problem is, it can't deliver on what it's promising. Long lines, lack of doctors, medicine and proper facilities make the delivery of the free services, very difficult. Rony Curvelo reports from Sao Paulo. - Despite claims of normalcy by New Delhi government in Indian controlled Kashmir, the saga of civilian killings at the hands of security forces continues. Shahana Butt reports from Kashmir. - The world may never again see the like of China's ghost cities. Every province of the nation now has at least one giant but new empty town. Steven Ribet reports from Beijing. - The Venezuelan capital city Caracas may be notorious for violence, shortages and insecurity, but its citizens have found a way around ...

Sport unites us across conflicts. This is the message we want to convey in our new commercial. When the Olympic Games kick off in Rio, it will be a time of great sporting achievements, samba and colorful festivities. However, not everyone will be joining in the festivities. Because despite its beauty, Rio is a city of contrasts. In the shadow of the Olympic celebrations you will find the street children of Rio living in the Favelas where the glossy image of the Olympics is obliterated by poverty and tough conditions. Sport creates hope in the face of an everyday life which is both demanding and difficult for many people. In Brazil everyone loves football, almost without exception. Playing football or another sport together is definitely a positive thing. It can overcome obstacles and re...

In February 2010 USD embarked on a 4 country tour through South America with Billy O’neill, Demetrios George, and Jero. This 4 part ROCK series is a fast paced re-cap of each country, giving you a taste of tour life. Our 4th and final stop is in Brazil. After several weeks and 3 countries, we miraculously caught our flight to Brazil for the last leg of the tour, and finally linked up with Brazilian legend Carlos Pianowski. The beauty of the county was overwhelming, and hundreds of people showed up for the skate park sessions and autograph opportunities at Rolling Sports inline shop. We trekked through the jungles and went cliff jumping at epic beaches. Huge thanks to JP and Rolling Sports inline shop for the hospitality and good times.

Throughout the 2014 World Cup of Football in Brazil I animated a short looping gif animation three times a week. These documented the insane, odd, delightful and brilliant events that took place on the field as soon after they happened as possible. This is a compilation of all of these, but they can all be seen individually in glorious gif form on www.eurosport.com Thanks to Eurosport for the opportunity. Thanks Vibro for the music in this video. Thanks everybody for creating such a fascinating sporting event. Congratulations Germany.
Many people in the tropics of Africa and Brazil used to live without clothes before European colonization; Ancient Greek athletes practiced sports naked. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art and probably the only modern sport that is always practiced with music, similar to sport events in Ancient Greece. So it seems capoeira gets only better when played naked... this seems only more natural on a hot Brazilian beach :-) http://activenaturists.net

Iguazú Falls is almost 2 miles wide and is not one, but an astonishing 275 waterfalls. "Aquarela do Brasil" Song and lyrics by Ary Barroso. This is a song that can be heard in the 1985 film "Brazil," directed by Terry Gilliam. Instrumentation by Michael Kamen and sung by Geoff Muldaur. SING ALONG NOW Brazil, where hearts were entertaining June We stood beneath an amber moon And softly murmured 'someday soon' We kissed, and clung together Then, tomorrow was another day The morning found me miles away With still a million things to say Now, when twilight dims the sky above Recalling thrills of our love There's one thing that I am certain of Return I will to old Brazil

After a clever, insightful, unusual, intellectual discussion, they decided th...

If you want to take a peep into our souls in one of our projects, this is it. This is the kind of project for which Le Cube exists. Senna is more than a Formula 1 racer; for Brazilians, he is a hero, an icon of overcoming hardship, stubbornness and good character. Sadly to say, he died young, in a race in 1994. But his legacy lives on. Part of this is thanks to the Senna family who opened an NGO called "Instituto Ayrton Senna"; their mission is to help in the education of Brazilian children and keep the image of Ayrton Senna alive. For the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the "Instituto Ayrton Senna", together with JWT and us (Le Cube), have prepared a beautiful message from Senna to all the Brazilian olympic athletes, pointing out the importance of winning at home. Ayrton Senna los...

I'm sorry for suggesting
I'm reading the whitewhashed faces
I could use a connection
I'm watching the whitewashed faces
On a good night sent spinning
Knows to play it winning
Strawberry red twizzlers
I wanna know what's with her
In the sun lie pale lovers
Drink slow and slowly
Over each of us in our turn sat in line
And stuck to burn
She shines like a carnival
Swimming through my book of dreams
All I know is all you've learned
Is all I want to be
You're right I'm left You're right
In the morning goldfish dead in a bowl
Everybody is up on a pulpit all alone
This is your word of stone
Where were you when Rome was burning?
Who wants points well it's not worth it
I'm trying hard to answer the letter
