Boots Riley of The Coup will be directing Sorry to Bother You, a movie written by Riley that he has been working on for a number of years. Principal photography begins on June 22. Meanwhile, Riley is looking for a prop in the upcoming film. The crew is looking someone who owns a vintage car from the 60s, 70s, or early 80s that is in show worthy condition. Riley needs to take a picture of car with some of the movie's cast and the picture will be used prominently in the film. You can contact Riley directly if you have such a car and live in Oakland.

2 People Charged with Manslaughter in Ghost Ship Fire Case

In December, 36 people were killed at DIY spot "Ghost Ship" in Oakland after a fire broke out. At the time, the spot had substandard exits resulting in people getting trapped during the chaos that ensued when the fire occurred. Building property manager Derick Almena and venue Creative Director Max Harris have each been charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors allege that the pair created a fire hazard by blocking off exits, loading the venue with flammable material, and having a lack of fire extinguishers. If convicted, each could receive 39 years in prison. Each man has also been sued by families of the deceased in civil court.

New Jersey solo act Graduation Speech has announced the released of a six song EP called Quiet & Calm. Graduation Speech is the new solo project of guitarist/vocalist Kevin Day of Aspiga.
