This is my personal declaration of war from Flat Earth against mainstream science. My only debate requirement is that you have someone with a Master's degree in a physical science either participating in, or supervising the event. Most people, if asked to prove that the earth is round, would not even bother to produce the rather weak arguments I have outlined above. They would start off by saying that ‘everyone knows’ the earth to be round, and if pressed further, would become angry. In a way Shaw is right. Flat Earth
The flat Earth model is an archaic conception of the Earth's shape as a plane or disk. Many ancient cultures subscribed to a flat Earth cosmography, including Greece until the classical period, the Bronze Age and Iron Age civilizations of the Near East until the Hellenistic period, India until the Gupta period (early centuries AD) and China until the 17th century. That paradigm was also typically held in the aboriginal cultures of the Americas, and the notion of a flat Earth domed by the firmament in the shape of an inverted bowl was common in pre-scientific societies.
The idea of a spherical Earth appeared in Greek philosophy with Pythagoras (6th century BC), although most Pre-Socratics retained the flat Earth model. Aristotle accepted the spherical shape of the Earth on empirical grounds around 330 BC, and knowledge of the spherical Earth gradually began to spread beyond the Hellenistic world from then on.

Ancient Near East
In early Egyptian and Mesopotamian thought the world was portrayed as a flat disk floating in the ocean. A similar model is found in the Homeric account of the 8th century BC in which "Okeanos, the personified body of water surrounding the circular surface of the Earth, is the begetter of all life and possibly of all gods." The Israelites likely had a similar cosmology, with the earth as a flat disc floating on water beneath an arced firmament separating it from the heavens.

The SW (South Western and Battersea) postcode area, also known as the London SW postcode area, is a group of postcode districts covering part of southwest London, England. The area originates from the South Western (SW1–SW10) and Battersea (SW11–SW20) districts of the London post town.

"Need You" is a 1967 single by Sonny James. The single went to number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart where it spent two weeks at the top. "Need You" spent a total of seventeen weeks on the chart.
"Need You" is known as the song that began a string of 16 consecutive single releases that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart without a miss. The string would continue into 1971, capped by the song "Here Comes Honey Again," the string finally being broken in 1972 with "Only Love Can Break a Heart." The string of 16 consecutive (non-holiday) single releases would be surpassed in 1985 by the country supergroup Alabama; the band would go on to have 21 No. 1 songs in a row, and to date is the only act to match James' record.

East Sheen, also known as Sheen, is a suburb of London, England in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
Its long high street has goods stores, convenience services, offices, restaurants, cafés, pubs and suburban supermarkets and is also the economic hub for Mortlake of which East Sheen was once a manor. This commercial thoroughfare, well served by public transport, is the Upper Richmond Road West which connects Richmond to Putney. Central to this street is The Triangle, a traffic island with a war memorial and an old milestone dating from 1751, marking the ten-mile distance to Cornhill in the City of London. The main railway station serving the area, Mortlake, is centred 300m north of this. Sheen has a mixture of low-rise and mid-rise buildings and it has parks and open spaces including its share of Richmond Park, accessed via Sheen Gate; Palewell Common, which has a playground, playing fields, tennis courts and a pitch and putt course; and East Sheen Common which is owned by the National Trust and leads into Bog Gate, another gate of Richmond Park.
