Nazimabad
Nazimabad (Urdu: ناظم آباد‎) is a middle-class suburb of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.
History
Before the independence of Pakistan, the area of the present day Nazimabad was semi-arid land with small Sindhi and Balochi villages nearly 10 KM from downtown Karachi. The Government of Pakistan bought the land in 1950 from the local landlord and tribal leader Masti Brohi Khan in order to resettle the Muslim refugees from India that were living in tent cities in central Karachi. Nazimabad was planned and developed starting in 1952 to and the land was sold at reduced prices to the refugees. This suburb was named after Khawaja Nazimuddin who was the second Governor-General of Pakistan, and later the second Prime Minister as well.
In late 1958, the northern area of Nazimabad, was to be developed as Timuria by Karachi Improvement Trust (KIT). The name North Nazimabad became popular and was later adopted instead of Timuria.North Nazimabad was developed as a residential area for federal government employees. But in the early 1960s the capital of Pakistan was transferred from Karachi to newly developed capital Islamabad.

I made this video at Karachi airport in April this year, on the way to my return flight for Lahore. Although camera work is not satisfactory, I have decided to share the video because it provides a view of Pakistan that does not often feature in reports by the international mainstream media, especially these days when the country is mostly in the headlines for its security situation. Surprisingly, there is nothing in the scenes at this major Pakistani airport to suggest that the country is in turmoil and its people are gripped by fear. Scenes inside the terminal building were videoed in domestic departures area. I made this video at Karachi airport in April this year, on the way to my return flight for Lahore. Although camera work is not satisfactory, I have decided to share the video because it provides a view of Pakistan that does not often feature in reports by the international mainstream media, especially these days when the country is mostly in the headlines for its security situation. Surprisingly, there is nothing in the scenes at this major Pakistani airport to suggest that the country is in turmoil and its people are gripped by fear.
Scenes inside the terminal building were videoed in domestic departures area. Entrance hall where security checks are carried out is shown only briefly but the check-in hall was filmed from as many different angles as possible.
While in corridor linking building to the satellite, I was challenged by a very forceful airport security officer, after a brief heated exchange with him I decided to stop filming as I had no intention of missing my flight.
My thanks to the PIA flight crew who so courteously agreed to being filmed and photographed for this video.
