Where opinion and credibility is valued It’s a place which gives the common man a voice, where everyone can express themselves and reach out to the world. Take Now Delhi for example. Now Delhi only exists on the internet, and because of the internet It exists because all the wonderful tools of the internet enable me, to create something and share it with the rest of the world. And i am like a Billion others whose lives are impacted daily by engaging with the internet in some or the other form. And you decide to censor it? I understand your concern. Its a big bad world out there in the digital alleys of cyberspace. There is sensitive information there that can be potentially dangerous. But then so does everyday real life, or these big cities we live in The world around us is full of things / information that could potentially shock / harm / disillusion us So does that mean we start living in a George-Orwell-1984-kind-of-dystopian-society? All with state control and such? I am not doubting your intention. Really. I’m not. Not for one second. Having lived in this country all my life, I have no doubt about for the impeccable moral fibre of the politicians of this country. I know your’e an honest lot. Maybe you were thinking regulation / filtration rather than censorship. I’m sure you did enough research and study about the way information flows on the internet and how a lot of content on the websites you banned is free and shared. And I’m totally willing to believe your notion that Vimeo is a terror website. I always felt it. In my gut. Some who may be reading this may be wondering why I have faith in this scam-ridden-corrupt-toothless-government of ours. Why You ask? Because i trust the government to make the right call for me. Because I know it will safeguard my rights of freedom of expression and speech as stated by the first amendment of the Indian constitution. (NOT) But here’s the thing. Even if your’e not willing to do it, there are those who will. Not for any gain or profit, but because essentially, there is generic belif amongst our generation, that every human being is meant to be free and have a choice, And when push comes to shove, we tend to huddle up together and fight as one. Maybe you want to check on the Arab uprisings and #Occupywallstreet movements. Interesting read. Google it sometime. Anonymous joining in is just the beginning. As were these protests. The numbers may not be large yet, But they will be one day. Because every movement has to start somewhere. And you just witnessed the beginning of this one. Do the right thing Remove the ban And join some internet behavior finishing school. Meh, N00B’s!
