Dilip Kumar's career has spanned six decades and over 60 films. Critics acclaimed him among one of the greatest actors in the history of Hindi cinema.Dilip Kumar is the first actor to receive a Filmfare Best Actor Award (1954) and shares the record for the most number of Filmfare awards won for that category with Shahrukh Khan, (eight wins).
The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 for his contributions towards Indian cinema. He starred in films of a variety of genres such as the romantic Andaz (1949), Aan (1952), Devdas (1955), Azaad (1955),Mughal-e-Azam (1960),Ganga Jamuna (1961).
In 1976, Dilip Kumar took a five-year break from film performances and returned with a character role in the film Kranti (1981) and continued his career playing central character roles in films such as Shakti (1982), Karma (1986) and Saudagar (1991). His last film was Qila (1998). Dilip Kumar has acted with actress Vyjayanthimala the most, where they both had acted seven films together including the former's home production Gunga Jamuna resulting in great on-screen chemistry and an alleged affair between them.

Kentsel Ayrışmanın Yüzü: Derbent 1950’li yıllar Türkiye kentleşmesine içkin gecekondulaşma sürecinin görünürlüğünün miladıdır. Bu yıllarda ve takip eden onyıllarda, özellikle İstanbul’a dönük yoğun sanayi yatırımlarıyla birlikte ihtiyaç duyulan emek gücünün tetiklediği göçle gecekondu mahalleleri oluşmaya başlamıştır. Kent mekanının sermaye, emek ve arazi ilişkileri bağlamında yeniden kurulduğu bu süreçte, Derbent, Büyükdere-Maslak hattındaki sanayileşmeye bağlı olarak, 1970’li yıllarda bir gecekondu mahallesi olarak kurulmuştur. Büyükdere-Maslak Hattı’nın Gelişimi Büyükdere-Maslak aksı 1950’leri izleyen yıllarda ilk büyük ilaç ve sanayi kuruluşlarının bu hat üzerine yerleşmesi ile yakın çevresinde gecekondu alanlarının oluşmasını tetiklemiş, süreci büyük sermaye gruplarının (Sabancı Holding, Yapı Kredi Bankası ve İş Bankası) aynı aks üzerinde büyük arsalar satın almaları izlemiştir. 1974 yılında birinci Boğaz Köprüsü ve bağlantı yollarının tamamlanması ile aks üzerindeki gelişme daha da hızlanmıştır. Aynı dönemde hazırlanan Nazım İmar Planı (1974) aksın devamında yer alan orman alanları ve içme suyu havzalarının kentsel gelişme ile tehdit altında olmasını gözönüne alarak, tam anlamı ile gelişimi durduracak bir karar üretmese de, hattın, ikincil merkez olarak gelişmesini öngörmüştür. 1980’den sonraki Dalan dönemine gelindiğinde ise, mevcut aks, 1974 planındaki çekinceleri yok sayarak, yoğun yapılaşmanın teşvik edildiği imtiyazlı haklarla yeniden planlanmıştır. Bu dönem, İstanbul’da ilk kez gökdelen yapımının telaffuz edildiği zamana denk düşer ki, genelde İstanbul kenti için yeni sosyo-mekansal ilişkilerin kurulduğu, özelde, Büyükdere-Maslak Hattı’nın uluslararası merkezi iş alanı olarak geliştiği ve kentsel ranta konu olduğu sürecin de ilk aşamalarıdır. 1980’li yıllardan 2000’li yıllara gelinirken, farklı aksları uluslararası iş merkezi olarak geliştirme yönünde özellikle politik düzeyde kararlar alınmış, süreç çelişkili bir tartışma zemininde ilerlemiştir. Özellikle 1990’ların sonlarına doğru, İstanbul kentinin küresel kent olması yönünde yerel ve ulusal düzeyde benimsenen söylem Büyükdere-Maslak hattının hem uluslararası sermaye yatırımlarını hem de yakın çevresinde ormanlık arazilerin içinde yerleşen lüks konut yatırımlarının da çekim alanı olmasına neden olmuştur. Buna bağlı olarak gelişen büyük finans kurumlarının ve büyük sermaye gruplarının merkezlerinin bu hatta yer seçmesi ve Belgrad Ormanları’na sırtını dayayan ve yüzünü Boğaz manzarasına dönmüş lüks konutların hızlı bir oranda artması, sanayi ve gecekondu birlikteliği ile gelişmiş Büyükdere-Maslak aksının sosyo-mekansal olarak yaşadığı dönüşümü 2010 yılına geldiğimizde net bir şekilde önümüze serer. Lüks Konutların Arasında Bir Gecekondu Alanı Derbent; Hazine, Milli Emlak, Vakıflar ve özel mülkiyette olan karma bir arazi yapısı üzerine kurulmuştur. Yaklaşık nüfusu 13-14 bin olan mahalle, 1200 hanelidir. Mahalle, 5 ana caddesi, 53 sokağı ve 2000 öğrencisi olan okuluyla Sarıyer Belediyesi’ne bağlıdır. Bugüne kadar mahallede yapılan evlerin büyük bir çoğunluğu tapu tahsis belgesine sahiptir. Mahallenin dönüşüm süreci ile ilk karşılaşması, 1986 yılında mahallelilerin dışında ki kişiler tarafından kurulan Atatürk Yapı Sanayi Kooperatifi’nin mahallenin belli bir alanından hisse toplamaları ile başlar. Söz konusu arsa, hisseli tapuya sahip olduğundan, Kooperatif, diğer 72 hisseye sahip olanlarla paylaşım konusunda anlaşamadıkları gerekçesi ile izale-i şuyu davası açarak, mahkemenin arsayı satışa çıkarması sonucu açık arttırma yolu ile tüm arsanın sahibi olur. 1996 yılında gerçekleşen satışın ardından, mahkeme kararı temyize gitse de sonuç değişmez. Böylece, Derbent, 2001-2002 yıllarında, üzerine daha sonra MESA Maslak Konutları’nın yapılacağı arsanın mahkeme eli ile büyük bir inşaat şirketine satışı yoluyla ilk dönüşümü yaşamıştır. Mahallenin önemli bir kısmının lüks bir kapalı site olan MESA evlerine dönüşmesi mahallenin tarihi ve bugün gelinen süreçte yaşanacak kentsel dönüşümün sonuçları açısından önem taşır. İstanbul’da ve diğer büyük kentlerde ilk örneklerinin görülmeye başlandığı kentsel dönüşüm sürecinden ilk payını alan mahallelerinden biri olur Derbent. Bağlı bulunduğu Sarıyer Belediyesi tarafından 2004 yılında kentsel dönüşüm alanı ilan edilir. Although not the first Burning Man film by Bill Breithaupt, AquaBurn has become the most popular. Breithaupt is a ten year Burning Man veteran, having attended and filmed the festival every year consecutively since 1999, when he ventured out to the playa for the first time and was blown away at what he experienced. Returning home he couldn’t stop talking about how amazing Burning Man was. Realizing that he never could quite convey the experience to others through words, he decided to express it through film, a medium he’s been working with for over 20 years. Breithaupt hunkered down and spent hours editing his footage into a film, Playa Project, which featured Dr. Megavolt. When he came back to the playa the following year he brought with him 100 copies of Playa Project to gift to his fellow burners. This became his annual tradition, filming, editing and returning the next year with films to gift on the playa. In 2000 Breithaupt started screening his films at Flambé Lounge, a pre-Burning Man party held in San Francisco. At Club Cocomo he gave the video jockey a copy of Playa Project, which was promptly played on the screens in the club. It was a hit with the crowd, hailed as “hip, new, and exciting”. The next year at Flambé Lounge they showcased his film, Got Fire? from Burning Man 2000. It was through this event that he met Andie Grace, Burning Man Org Communications Manager, with whom he shared his idea of a Burning Man Film Festival to showcase the many Burning Man films suddenly springing up. There was electricity in the air as people embraced the year’s upcoming theme The Floating World at the Flambé Lounge Blue Ball in 2002. Breithaupt showed his 2001 film PlayaScape, and the crowd was ecstatic, cheering in unison as the credits rolled. A few months later, in July of 2002, Burning Man Head of Media Operations, Jim Graham offered Bill Breithaupt a spot in the 1st annual Burning Man Film Festival held in Santa Cruz, CA. This was a surprising request, as Burning Man is known for having strict policies regarding filming at Burning Man and the usage of such footage. Jumping at the opportunity Breithaupt headed to Burning Man for his fourth year in a row, partying with his friends and filming the entire week as usual. Aside from the beautiful time-lapse footage and cinematic shots he’s known for, he also captured some fantastic insight from his fellow burners thanks to the verbal skills of his good friend Scott Sheppard. When he returned home he locked himself in his studio and edited, determined to make his best film yet. With only three weeks between the end of Burning Man 2002 and the day of the film festival, he began burning the midnight oil, editing 14-16 hours straight, rarely sleeping. At the end of this crazy schedule Breithaupt had edited a total of 180 hours, and was off to the festival without having slept for two days straight. The final result was the film AquaBurn. The 300 + audience that packed into the Rio Theater that day were awed. At the end of the film they cheered, then quieted to watch all the credits, and then cheered again, rising to give Breithaupt a standing ovation (at the end of which he thanked his mom). True to form, he filmed the audience’s enthusiastic reaction, and was even quoted as saying “it was one of the best moments of my life”. Despite agonizing pain from a previous neck injury, he then logged an additional grueling 620 hours of editing time and then AquaBurn was finally complete. It also received approval for sale from the Burning Man Organization, granted to only a few select films. Plot: Karma, a young Tibetan woman from New York City comes to Dharamsala, the exile headquarters of the Dalai Lama in India, in search of her roots. She is making a documentary film about former political prisoners who have escaped Tibet. One of her interviewees is Dhondup, who has recently fled to India. He reveals to her that his dying mother had made him promise to deliver an old charm box to an exile Tibetan named Loga, and appeals to her for help in locating the man. Their enquiries reveal that Loga, a former CIA-trained resistance fighter, has been missing for the past fifteen years and is presumed to be dead. But is he really dead? As they set out to unravel the mysterious circumstances of his disappearance, Karma finds herself unwittingly attracted to Dhondup even as she is sucked into the vortex of his search, which takes them through the world of the exile Tibetan community in India and becomes a journey of self-discovery.

Büyükdere-Maslak Hattı’nın Gelişimi
Büyükdere-Maslak aksı 1950’leri izleyen yıllarda ilk büyük ilaç ve sanayi kuruluşlarının bu hat üzerine yerleşmesi ile yakın çevresinde gecekondu alanlarının oluşmasını tetiklemiş, süreci büyük sermaye gruplarının (Sabancı Holding, Yapı Kredi Bankası ve İş Bankası) aynı aks üzerinde büyük arsalar satın almaları izlemiştir. 1974 yılında birinci Boğaz Köprüsü ve bağlantı yollarının tamamlanması ile aks üzerindeki gelişme daha da hızlanmıştır. Aynı dönemde hazırlanan Nazım İmar Planı (1974) aksın devamında yer alan orman alanları ve içme suyu havzalarının kentsel gelişme ile tehdit altında olmasını gözönüne alarak, tam anlamı ile gelişimi durduracak bir karar üretmese de, hattın, ikincil merkez olarak gelişmesini öngörmüştür.
1980’den sonraki Dalan dönemine gelindiğinde ise, mevcut aks, 1974 planındaki çekinceleri yok sayarak, yoğun yapılaşmanın teşvik edildiği imtiyazlı haklarla yeniden planlanmıştır. Bu dönem, İstanbul’da ilk kez gökdelen yapımının telaffuz edildiği zamana denk düşer ki, genelde İstanbul kenti için yeni sosyo-mekansal ilişkilerin kurulduğu, özelde, Büyükdere-Maslak Hattı’nın uluslararası merkezi iş alanı olarak geliştiği ve kentsel ranta konu olduğu sürecin de ilk aşamalarıdır.
1980’li yıllardan 2000’li yıllara gelinirken, farklı aksları uluslararası iş merkezi olarak geliştirme yönünde özellikle politik düzeyde kararlar alınmış, süreç çelişkili bir tartışma zemininde ilerlemiştir. Özellikle 1990’ların sonlarına doğru, İstanbul kentinin küresel kent olması yönünde yerel ve ulusal düzeyde benimsenen söylem Büyükdere-Maslak hattının hem uluslararası sermaye yatırımlarını hem de yakın çevresinde ormanlık arazilerin içinde yerleşen lüks konut yatırımlarının da çekim alanı olmasına neden olmuştur. Buna bağlı olarak gelişen büyük finans kurumlarının ve büyük sermaye gruplarının merkezlerinin bu hatta yer seçmesi ve Belgrad Ormanları’na sırtını dayayan ve yüzünü Boğaz manzarasına dönmüş lüks konutların hızlı bir oranda artması, sanayi ve gecekondu birlikteliği ile gelişmiş Büyükdere-Maslak aksının sosyo-mekansal olarak yaşadığı dönüşümü 2010 yılına geldiğimizde net bir şekilde önümüze serer.
Lüks Konutların Arasında Bir Gecekondu Alanı
Derbent; Hazine, Milli Emlak, Vakıflar ve özel mülkiyette olan karma bir arazi yapısı üzerine kurulmuştur. Yaklaşık nüfusu 13-14 bin olan mahalle, 1200 hanelidir. Mahalle, 5 ana caddesi, 53 sokağı ve 2000 öğrencisi olan okuluyla Sarıyer Belediyesi’ne bağlıdır. Bugüne kadar mahallede yapılan evlerin büyük bir çoğunluğu tapu tahsis belgesine sahiptir.
Mahallenin dönüşüm süreci ile ilk karşılaşması, 1986 yılında mahallelilerin dışında ki kişiler tarafından kurulan Atatürk Yapı Sanayi Kooperatifi’nin mahallenin belli bir alanından hisse toplamaları ile başlar. Kentsel Ayrışmanın Yüzü: Derbent
1950’li yıllar Türkiye kentleşmesine içkin gecekondulaşma sürecinin görünürlüğünün miladıdır. Bu yıllarda ve takip eden onyıllarda, özellikle İstanbul’a dönük yoğun sanayi yatırımlarıyla birlikte ihtiyaç duyulan emek gücünün tetiklediği göçle gecekondu mahalleleri oluşmaya başlamıştır. Kent mekanının sermaye, emek ve arazi ilişkileri bağlamında yeniden kurulduğu bu süreçte, Derbent, Büyükdere-Maslak hattındaki sanayileşmeye bağlı olarak, 1970’li yıllarda bir gecekondu mahallesi olarak kurulmuştur.
Büyükdere-Maslak Hattı’nın Gelişimi
Büyükdere-Maslak aksı 1950’leri izleyen yıllarda ilk büyük ilaç ve sanayi kuruluşlarının bu hat üzerine yerleşmesi ile yakın çevresinde gecekondu alanlarının oluşmasını tetiklemiş, süreci büyük sermaye gruplarının (Sabancı Holding, Yapı Kredi Bankası ve İş Bankası) aynı aks üzerinde büyük arsalar satın almaları izlemiştir. 1974 yılında birinci Boğaz Köprüsü ve bağlantı yollarının tamamlanması ile aks üzerindeki gelişme daha da hızlanmıştır. Aynı dönemde hazırlanan Nazım İmar Planı (1974) aksın devamında yer alan orman alanları ve içme suyu havzalarının kentsel gelişme ile tehdit altında olmasını gözönüne alarak, tam anlamı ile gelişimi durduracak bir karar üretmese de, hattın, ikincil merkez olarak gelişmesini öngörmüştür.
1980’den sonraki Dalan dönemine gelindiğinde ise, mevcut aks, 1974 planındaki çekinceleri yok sayarak, yoğun yapılaşmanın teşvik edildiği imtiyazlı haklarla yeniden planlanmıştır. Bu dönem, İstanbul’da ilk kez gökdelen yapımının telaffuz edildiği zamana denk düşer ki, genelde İstanbul kenti için yeni sosyo-mekansal ilişkilerin kurulduğu, özelde, Büyükdere-Maslak Hattı’nın uluslararası merkezi iş alanı olarak geliştiği ve kentsel ranta konu olduğu sürecin de ilk aşamalarıdır.
1980’li yıllardan 2000’li yıllara gelinirken, farklı aksları uluslararası iş merkezi olarak geliştirme yönünde özellikle politik düzeyde kararlar alınmış, süreç çelişkili bir tartışma zemininde ilerlemiştir. Özellikle 1990’ların sonlarına doğru, İstanbul kentinin küresel kent olması yönünde yerel ve ulusal düzeyde benimsenen söylem Büyükdere-Maslak hattının hem uluslararası sermaye yatırımlarını hem de yakın çevresinde ormanlık arazilerin içinde yerleşen lüks konut yatırımlarının da çekim alanı olmasına neden olmuştur. Buna bağlı olarak gelişen büyük finans kurumlarının ve büyük sermaye gruplarının merkezlerinin bu hatta yer seçmesi ve Belgrad Ormanları’na sırtını dayayan ve yüzünü Boğaz manzarasına dönmüş lüks konutların hızlı bir oranda artması, sanayi ve gecekondu birlikteliği ile gelişmiş Büyükdere-Maslak aksının sosyo-mekansal olarak yaşadığı dönüşümü 2010 yılına geldiğimizde net bir şekilde önümüze serer.
Lüks Konutların Arasında Bir Gecekondu Alanı
Derbent; Hazine, Milli Emlak, Vakıflar ve özel mülkiyette olan karma bir arazi yapısı üzerine kurulmuştur. Yaklaşık nüfusu 13-14 bin olan mahalle, 1200 hanelidir. Mahalle, 5 ana caddesi, 53 sokağı ve 2000 öğrencisi olan okuluyla Sarıyer Belediyesi’ne bağlıdır. Bugüne kadar mahallede yapılan evlerin büyük bir çoğunluğu tapu tahsis belgesine sahiptir.

Although not the first Burning Man film by Bill Breithaupt, AquaBurn has become the most popular. Breithaupt is a ten year Burning Man veteran, having attended and filmed the festival every year consecutively since 1999, when he ventured out to the playa for the first time and was blown away at what he experienced. Returning home he couldn’t stop talking about how amazing Burning Man was. Realizing that he never could quite convey the experience to others through words, he decided to express it through film, a medium he’s been working with for over 20 years. Breithaupt hunkered down and spent hours editing his footage into a film, Playa Project, which featured Dr. Megavolt. When he came back to the playa the following year he brought with him 100 copies of Playa Project to gift to his fellow burners. This became his annual tradition, filming, editing and returning the next year with films to gift on the playa.
In 2000 Breithaupt started screening his films at Flambé Lounge, a pre-Burning Man party held in San Francisco. At Club Cocomo he gave the video jockey a copy of Playa Project, which was promptly played on the screens in the club. It was a hit with the crowd, hailed as “hip, new, and exciting”. The next year at Flambé Lounge they showcased his film, Got Fire? from Burning Man 2000. It was through this event that he met Andie Grace, Burning Man Org Communications Manager, with whom he shared his idea of a Burning Man Film Festival to showcase the many Burning Man films suddenly springing up. There was electricity in the air as people embraced the year’s upcoming theme The Floating World at the Flambé Lounge Blue Ball in 2002. Breithaupt showed his 2001 film PlayaScape, and the crowd was ecstatic, cheering in unison as the credits rolled.
A few months later, in July of 2002, Burning Man Head of Media Operations, Jim Graham offered Bill Breithaupt a spot in the 1st annual Burning Man Film Festival held in Santa Cruz, CA. This was a surprising request, as Burning Man is known for having strict policies regarding filming at Burning Man and the usage of such footage. Jumping at the opportunity Breithaupt headed to Burning Man for his fourth year in a row, partying with his friends and filming the entire week as usual. Aside from the beautiful time-lapse footage and cinematic shots he’s known for, he also captured some fantastic insight from his fellow burners thanks to the verbal skills of his good friend Scott Sheppard. When he returned home he locked himself in his studio and edited, determined to make his best film yet. With only three weeks between the end of Burning Man 2002 and the day of the film festival, he began burning the midnight oil, editing 14-16 hours straight, rarely sleeping. At the end of this crazy schedule Breithaupt had edited a total of 180 hours, and was off to the festival without having slept for two days straight. The final result was the film AquaBurn. The 300 + audience that packed into the Rio Theater that day were awed. At the end of the film they cheered, then quieted to watch all the credits, and then cheered again, rising to give Breithaupt a standing ovation (at the end of which he thanked his mom). True to form, he filmed the audience’s enthusiastic reaction, and was even quoted as saying “it was one of the best moments of my life”.
Despite agonizing pain from a previous neck injury, he then logged an additional grueling 620 hours of editing time and then AquaBurn was finally complete. It also received approval for sale from the Burning Man Organization, granted to only a few select films. His bio is as follows: Mike was Born in 1947 & raised in Conn., Blowen was not much of a horse fan as a child or yg. adult. You see-Blowen built his career as a writer for the Boston Globe-eventually landing an enviable role as movie critic & rubbing elbows with film stars & celebrities for 2 decades in 1980’s & 1990’s. However -in 1981-a chance outing to Suffolk Downs-MA. 1st major racetrack changed the trajectory of Blowen’s life, & retirement-not to mention a dreary Feb. 1997 Boston day when he walked into the bowels of Suffolk Downs & asked trainer Carlos Figueroa, about whom Blowen had written a feature story, if he could work for free. Figueroa said yes-then in 1999 karma struck-the Boston Globe offered him a retirement buyout-along with his wife Diane-a Globe columnist-they took it & joined the Thoroughbred Ret. Fndtn., which rescues horses & provides them safe homes. In 2000-he moved to Ky. to help TRF’S KY. efforts in the bluegrass-the Horse Capital of the World. That same year-he founded the non-profit org. Old Friends Farm-in Georgetown, Ky.-as a retirement & rescue facility for pensioned thoroughbreds, but in 2002 due to public outcry after the slaughter in Japan of 1986 Ky. Derby winner-Ferdinand-the mission turned to "at risk" race horses who's racing & breeding careers had come to an end-plus giving the public an opp. to meet these once celebrated thoroughbreds & for them to live out their lives in a place of dignity & comfort! To make Old Friends viable-Blowen took a chapter from his Hollywood Days-in that people love movie stars-so-Old Friends is open to the public-is rarely closed-& he & his wife Diane have an unwavering commitment to their retirees-offering daily tours & attracting nearly 20,000 annl. visitors! Blowen & his wife Diane-reside on Old Friends Farm & like the retire thoroughbreds he cares for-he too will be buried on the grounds of the farm-when his great day comes!
