Timelapse - O'Porto (de Paulo Ferreira aka ptlapse) PT: O Porto é uma cidade portuguesa, capital do distrito homónimo, situada no noroeste de Portugal e pertencente à região Norte e sub-região do Grande Porto. A cidade do Porto é conhecida como a Cidade Invicta e como a Capital do Norte. Tem uma velha ligação socio-económica à Inglaterra e é a cidade onde vive a maior comunidade britânica em Portugal , sendo mesmo considerada a cidade portuguesa com o temperamento mais «centro-europeu» e onde se encontram as raízes judaicas mais antigas e consistentes dos portugueses, através de uma herança «marrana» milenar, onde melhor se pode verificar, em Portugal, o velho adágio centro-europeu da ética protestante que recupera o espírito de 'nação' judaico e que gerou o livre jogo do capitalismo e da economia de mercado: "Stadtluft macht frei" ("O ar da cidade liberta"). This is the making off for "When guest become host", exihibition at Porto Culturgest, our project is called "don't forget, is too late!" The international architects collective Supersudaca proposed to realize a city guide of Porto in collaboration with local people. This guide presents a non-coherent and non-exhaustive catalogue of ‘100 places of Porto you will not see anymore, because they already disappeared’. instead of ‘The 100 places you have to see before you die’ nor ‘The 100 best spots in Porto 2010‘. The publication is the result and compilation of three weeks of residence in Culturgest artspace in Porto, where Supersudaca installed a temporary office, organizing discussions, lectures and worksessions with a large group of local collaborators. 'Too late!’ brings together clippings of 100 places, events and rituals that have already disappeared from the (visible) city of Porto. The proposal is to ‘take a break’ and to resist, in a poetic way, the way cities are branded, sold and consumed as merely tourist products. The usual ‘must have seen’ lists include all the ‘official’ best places in the world named each year by Unesco, Tourist Councils, gigantic travel agencies, etc. The city guide has a totally different thought behind it. Since all the places and/or events presented in the guide have already disappeared (it’s too late, you missed it!), there is no hurry anymore, no crowds anymore to go through to take a single picture. So you can visit the city of Porto when you want, or even just reading the guide. Do it in a relaxed way and take your time.
