The park-and-palace complex lies in Warsaw's central district (Śródmieście), on Ujazdów Avenue (Aleje Ujazdowskie) on the "Royal Route" linking the Royal Castle with Wilanów palace to the south. North of Łazienki Park, on the other side of Agrykola Street, stands Ujazdów Castle.

Warsaw, Poland: In the middle of the winter, let's visit Łazienki Park (Polish: Park Łazienkowski or Łazienki Królewskie, literally "Baths Park" or "Royal Baths") which is the largest park in Warsaw, Poland, occupying 76 hectares of the city center. The park-and-palace complex lies in Warsaw's central district (Śródmieście), on Ujazdów Avenue on the "Royal Route" linking the Royal Castle with Wilanów Palace to the south. Originally designed and built as a baths park in the 17th century for nobleman Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski, it was later transformed by King of Poland Stanisław II Augustus into a garden filled with palaces, manors, picturesque buildings and monuments. Lazienki Park must be the loveliest, most enchanting city park in Europe. Right in the heart of the city, just south of the Old Town and Royal Route, it was once a country estate outside Warsaw's city walls. Its name, "Royal Baths Park", comes from the bathing pavilion once located here. The estate was acquired and redesigned by the last Polish king, Stanislaw August Poniatowski, in the mid-18th century, and laid out in classical style, complete with a palace on the central lake, an ancient Roman-style amphitheatre, an orangerie and a whole wonderland of beautifully-crafted gardens.

History
Łazienki Park was designed in the 17th century by Tylman van Gameren, in the baroque style, for military commander Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski. It took the name Łazienki ("Baths") from a bathing pavilion that was located nearby.
This picturesque and charming garden scheme owes its emergence as its present shape and appearance mainly to the last ruler of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, King Stanisław August Poniatowski (Stanisław II Augustus). In the mid-16th century, it became part of the estates of Poland’s Italian- born Queen Bona Sforza, who built a wooden manor house with an Italian garden on this site. Later, the wooden manor house of Queen Anna Jagiellon stood on this spot, immortalized in 1578 by the performance of the first Polish play, “Dismissal of the Greek Envoys” by Jan Kochanowski. To the south, King Sigismund III Vasa had a four-sided stone castle with corner towers erected in 1624.

Warsaw
Warsaw (Polish: Warszawa [varˈʂava]; see also other names) is the capital and largest city of Poland. It stands on the Vistula River in east-central Poland, roughly 260 kilometres (160 mi) from the Baltic Sea and 300 kilometres (190 mi) from the Carpathian Mountains. Its population is estimated at 1.740 million residents within a greater metropolitan area of 2.666 million residents, which makes Warsaw the 9th most-populous capital city in the European Union. Warsaw's economy, by a wide variety of industries, is characterised by FMCG manufacturing, metal processing, steel and electronic manufacturing and food processing. The city is a significant centre of research and development, BPO, ITO, as well as of the Polish media industry. The Warsaw Stock Exchange is one of the largest and most important in Central and Eastern Europe.Frontex, the European Union agency for external border security, has its headquarters in Warsaw. It has been said that Warsaw, together with Frankfurt, London, Paris and Barcelona is one of the cities with the highest number of skyscrapers in Europe. Warsaw has also been called "Eastern Europe’s chic cultural capital with thriving art and club scenes and serious restaurants".

A park is an area of natural, semi-natural, or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats. Łazienki Park (Polish: Park Łazienkowski or Łazienki Królewskie, literally "Baths Park" or "Royal Baths"; often rendered "Royal Baths Park") is the largest park in Warsaw, Poland, occupying 76 hectares of the city center.
The park-and-palace complex lies in Warsaw's central district (Śródmieście), on Ujazdów Avenue (Aleje Ujazdowskie) on the "Royal Route" linking the Royal Castle with Wilanów palace to the south. North of Łazienki Park, on the other side of Agrykola Street, stands Ujazdów Castle.

Right in the heart of the city, just south of the Old Town and Royal Route, it was once a country estate outside Warsaw's city walls. Its name, "Royal Baths Park", comes from the bathing pavilion once located here. The estate was acquired and redesigned by the last Polish king, Stanislaw August Poniatowski, in the mid-18th century, and laid out in classical style, complete with a palace on the central lake, an ancient Roman-style amphitheatre, an orangerie and a whole wonderland of beautifully-crafted gardens.

Well hello and welcome to Warszawa. This week we are exploring the Polish capital. We've already been here a few days and it has been amazing. It has been such a pleasant surprise and unlike any part of Europe we've traveled in so far. So yeah, this week we're going to be highlighting 25 things to do around the city and we're excited to show you what it is all about.
We came to Warsaw with little to no expectations and the city completely surprised us. Our week in the capital was spent sampling Polish cuisine, learning about the city's past through museums and historical tours, and also dabbling in a bit of the nightlife. Warsaw is quickly rising through the ranks and we think it won't be long before travellers are flocking en masse. So if you're planning a trip to Poland, don't skip over the capital because there is more to Warsaw than meets the eye.
This is part of our Travel in Poland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Polish culture, Polish arts, Polish foods, Polish religion, Polish cuisine and Polish people.

Well hello and welcome to Warszawa. This week we are exploring the Polish capital. We've already been here a few days and it has been amazing. It has been such a pleasant surprise and unlike any part of Europe we've traveled in so far. So yeah, this week we're going to be highlighting 25 things to do around the city and we're excited to show you what it is all about.
We came to Warsaw with little to no expectations and the city completely surprised us. Our week in the capital was spent sampling Polish cuisine, learning about the city's past through museums and historical tours, and also dabbling in a bit of the nightlife. Warsaw is quickly rising through the ranks and we think it won't be long before travellers are flocking en masse. So if you're planning a trip to Poland, don't skip over the capital because there is more to Warsaw than meets the eye.
This is part of our Travel in Poland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Polish culture, Polish arts, Polish foods, Polish religion, Polish cuisine and Polish people.

The park-and-palace complex lies in Warsaw's central district (Śródmieście), on Ujazdów Avenue on the "Royal Route" linking the Royal Castle with Wilanów Palace to the south. Originally designed and built as a baths park in the 17th century for nobleman Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski, it was later transformed by King of Poland Stanisław II Augustus into a garden filled with palaces, manors, picturesque buildings and monuments. Warsaw is a large and sprawling city of more than 1.7 million people that is split into somewhat uneven halves by the Wisła (Vistula) River. Most everything of interest to visitors is on the western side of the river around the modern financial district. Its centrepiece is the landmark Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki), a Socialist-Realist confection which can be seen from virtually anywhere in the city.
The epicentre of Warsaw for visitors is the so-called Royal Route (Trakt Królewski), which runs north-south from the New and Old Towns, past the fashionable shops of Nowy Świat, the palaces that survived the war and the royal gardens of Łazienki Park, before reaching Wilanów Palace to the south of the city centre.
Warsaw's striking Old Town may look like it dates back several centuries but the old gal has barely reached middle age. The painstakingly rebuilt area was awarded a listing on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1980. Unmissable attractions in and around the Old Town include the Royal Castle, St John's Cathedral and the Citadel. Farther afield, make sure you visit the Warsaw Rising Museum for the story of the courageous men and women who rose up against their occupiers in WWII as well as the Palace of Culture and Science for the views.
No surprising for a city that was essentially rebuilt from the ground up after WWII, Warsaw offers an inordinate amount of green space, with leafy parks where rowing boats cruise past outdoor cafés, during the summer, and free classical concerts attract crowds in a scene far removed from the dull Communist-era images of Warsaw. And don't miss the palaces and other historical and cultural buildings in the city's splendid Łazienki and Wilanów Parks.
Warsaw's nightlife is one of the best in Eastern Europe today, with a multitude of bars and clubs scattered across the city as well as a generous dose of more highbrow entertainment such as classical music concerts and opera. Whatever you do, don't leave town without sampling the tipple of choice here in these parts: wódka (vodka). It comes in a myriad of flavours and hues - from myśliwska (`hunter's vodka'), which tastes a bit like gin, and wiśniówka (flavoured with cherries) to pieprzówka (pepper) and the famous żubrówka ('bison vodka'), which is flavoured with grass and favoured by the beasties in Bialowieza National Park). Poles traditionally drank vodka neat -- never in cocktails.
The dining options have improved no end in Warsaw, with international cuisine regularly featured alongside Polish standards. And Polish cuisine has also undergone some major transformations, lightening up old favourites with less fat and employing fresher ingredients.

Lazienki Park must be the loveliest, most enchanting city park in Europe. Right in the heart of the city, just south of the Old Town and Royal Route, it was once a country estate outside Warsaw's city walls. Its name, "Royal Baths Park", comes from the bathing pavilion once located here. The estate was acquired and redesigned by the last Polish king, Stanislaw August Poniatowski, in the mid-18th century, and laid out in classical style, complete with a palace on the central lake, an ancient Roman-style amphitheatre, an orangerie and a whole wonderland of beautifully-crafted gardens. Originally designed and built as a baths park in the 17th century for nobleman Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski, it was later transformed by King of Poland Stanisław II Augustus into a garden filled with palaces, manors, picturesque buildings and monuments.
