25 Things to do in Warsaw, Poland | Top Attractions Travel Guide
This was our first trip to Poland and we dove into the capital headfirst. While our travels may have started in the charming Old Town, it wasn't long before we discovered that Warsaw has a cool artsy side. We visited bright neon museums in the art district, shopped in boutiques selling soviet-chic apparel, and got to experience the capital's legendary nightlife. It many ways it was a whirlwind visit, but it was also a fun introduction that made us curious to discover more of Poland in our future travels. The following video will highlight 25 things to do in Warsaw and give you a glimpse into this up and coming capital.
Warszawa Travel Guide: Top 25 things to do in Warsaw
1) Castle Square - plac Zamkowy w Warszawie
2) Royal Castle - Zamek Królewski w Warszawie

Walking in the Rain in Downtown Warsaw, Poland. 4K City Walk
Immerse into this magical ambience with the Minister of Ambience.
The Minister of Ambience is back with yet another city walk video. And... it's raining! What can be better than a rainy city ambience? Calming raindrops mixed with city sounds of sirens, hundreds of passing cars, and people. You will find it relaxing no matter if you are trying to fall asleep or just need something to run on background.
This time we are visiting central parts of Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Many regard Poland and all its cities as an old-fashioned place with blended medieval and Eastern European / Soviet Block styles. However, it cannot be farther from the truth in the case of Warsaw. To us, this is a well-designed modern city, with excellent infrastructure and a stunning skyline that can compete with ma...

Inside Warsaw's Most Dangerous Hood: Praga 🇵🇱
The locals say Praga is the most dangerous neighborhood in Warsaw, Poland. They suggested I avoid the area, thus confirming the bad reputation that this district in the east bank of the Vistula river has had for the last few decades. So armed with my camera, wallet and balls I took a tram from the city center and landed in the heart of the much feared neighborhood.

Enjoy more historical sites along the Royal Route. Visit St Johns Cathedral and St Anne’s Church, whose interior miraculously survived the war. One of the few statues not destroyed by the German army is the mermaid Syrena, the symbol and protector of Warsaw.
Keep apace of the city’s stories at the many museums here. Visit the Palace of Culture and Science and the Copernicus Science Centre. Don’t miss Wilanow Palace, with luxurious artworks and formal gardens.
Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Poland’s economy has boomed, reflected in the luxury malls, such as Zlote Tarasy and the VITKAC Department store.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

25 Things to do in Warsaw, Poland | Top Attractions Tourism Guide Video Transcript:
Well hello and welcome to Warszawa. This week we are exploring the Polish capital. We've already been here a few days and it has been amazing. It has been such a pleasant surprise and unlike any part of Europe we've traveled in so far. So yeah, this week we're going to be highlighting 25 things to do around the city and we're excited to show you what it is all about.
We came to Warsaw with little to no expectations and the city completely surprised us. Our week in the capital was spent sampling Polish cuisine, learning about the city's past through museums and historical tours, and also dabbling in a bit of the nightlife. Warsaw is quickly rising through the ranks and we think it won't be long before travellers are flocking en masse. So if you're planning a trip to Poland, don't skip over the capital because there is more to Warsaw than meets the eye.
This is part of our Travel in Poland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Polish culture, Polish arts, Polish foods, Polish religion, Polish cuisine and Polish people.
All photos and video taken by Samuel Jeffery (Nomadic Samuel) and Audrey Bergner (That Backpacker).

Over the centuries, Warsaw has been plundered and invaded many times by forces from Sweden and France to Russia. It suffered heavy damage from German bombs in World War II. Yet, Warsaw today is a new, vibrant city that has been largely restored to its pre-World War II. Among the tourist attractions in Warsaw, Old Town, with its palace, churches and castles, is not to be missed. Visitors also will want to take advantage of the city’s impressive cultural activities.
To us, this is a well-designed modern city, with excellent infrastructure and a stunning skyline that can compete with many metropolises around the world. Warsaw combines a metropolitan look with a relatively average city size making it one of the best places to live in Europe.
Warsaw Walking Tour Guide:
0:00 - Giełdowa
10:14 - Rondo Daszyńskiego
15:24 - Plac Europejski
19:36 - Grzybowska
30:30 - al. Jana Pawła II
35:10 - Świętokrzyska
48:20 - Jasna / Zgoda
54:32 - Chmielna
59:38 - al. Jerozolimskie
1:07:46 - Nowy Świat / Mysia / Bracka

The locals say Praga is the most dangerous neighborhood in Warsaw, Poland. They suggested I avoid the area, thus confirming the bad reputation that this district in the east bank of the Vistula river has had for the last few decades. So armed with my camera, wallet and balls I took a tram from the city center and landed in the heart of the much feared neighborhood.

======= Uprising SONG STORY =======
The Warsaw Uprising (Polish: powstanie warszawskie) was a major World War II operation by the Polish Resistance home Army to liberate Warsaw from Nazi Germany. The rebellion was timed to coincide with the Soviet Union’s Red Army approaching the eastern suburbs of the city and the retreat of German forces. However, the Soviet advance stopped short, enabling the Germans to regroup and demolish the city while defeating the Polish resistance, which fought for 63 days with little outside support. The Uprising was the largest single military effort taken by any European resistance movement during WW2.
The uprising began on 1 August 1944 and the Poles initially established control over most of central Warsaw but the Soviets ignored Polish attempts to establish radio contact and did not advance beyond the city limits. Intense street fighting between the Germans and Poles continued.
Although the exact number of casualties remains unknown, it is estimated that about 16,000 members of the Polish resistance were killed and about 6,000 badly wounded. In addition, between 150,000 and 200,000 Polish civilians died, mostly from mass executions. Jews being harboured by Poles were exposed by German house-to-house clearances and mass evictions of entire neighbourhoods. German casualties totalled over 8,000 soldiers killed and missing, and 9,000 wounded.
======= Uprising LYRICS =======
Warsaw Rise!
Do you remember when, when the Nazis forced their rule on Poland 1939 and the allies turned away
From the underground rose a hope of freedom as a whisper
City in despair, but they never lost their faith
Women, men and children fight
they were dying side by side
And the blood they shed upon the streets
was a sacrifice willingly paid
Warsaw city at war
Voices from underground
whispers of freedom
1944 help that never came
Calling Warsaw city at war
Voices from underground
whispers of freedom
Rise up and hear the call
History calling to you
‘Warszawo, walcz!’
Spirit soul and heart
in accordance with the old traditions
1944 still the allies turn away
Fighting street to street
in a time of hope and desperation
Did it on their own and they never lost their faith
Women, men and children fight
they were dying side by side
And the blood they shed upon the streets
was a sacrifice willingly paid
Warsaw city at war
Voices from underground
whispers of freedom
1944 help that never came
Calling Warsaw city at war
Voices from underground
whispers of freedom
Rise up and hear the call
History calling to you
‘Warszawo, walcz!’
[2x]
All the streetlights in the city
broken many years ago
Break the curfew, hide in sewers
Warsaw it’s time to rise now
Warsaw city at war
Voices from underground
whispers of freedom
1944 help that never came
Calling Warsaw city at war
Voices from underground
whispers of freedom
Rise up and hear the call
History calling to you
‘Warszawa, walcz!’

Lyrics
When routine bites hard
And ambitions are low
And resentment rides high
But emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways, taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Why is the bedroom so cold?
You've turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through our lives
But love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
You cry out in your sleep
All my failings exposed
And there's a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Just that something so good
Just can't function no more
Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Then love, love will tear it apart again
Love, love will tear it apart again

Radio, live transmission
Radio, live transmission
Listen to the silence, let it ring on
Eyes, dark grey lenses frightened of the sun
We would have a fine time living in the night
Left to blind destruction, waiting for our sight
And we would go on as though nothing was wrong
And hide from these days we remained all alone
Staying in the same place, just staying out the time
Touching from a distance, further all the time
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio
Well I could call out when the going gets tough
The things that we've learnt are no longer enough
No language, just sound, that's all we need know
To synchronise love to the beat of the show
And we could dance
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio

In folklore, a ghost is the soul or spirit of a dead person or animal that can appear to the living. In ghostlore, descriptions of ghosts vary widely from an invisible presence to translucent or barely visible wispy shapes, to realistic, lifelike forms. The deliberate attempt to contact the spirit of a deceased person is known as necromancy, or in spiritism as a séance. Other terms associated with it are apparition, haunt, phantom, poltergeist, shade, specter or spectre, spirit, spook, and wraith.

The presentation will start with a brief overview of AI research and development at Samsung R&D; in Poland. We will then describe a solution, developed in one of our projects, that has won the Semantic Textual Similarity (STS) task within the SemEval 2016 research competition. The goal of this competition was to measure semantic similarity between two given sentences on a scale from 0 to 5. At the same time the solution should replicate human language understanding. The presented model is a novel hybrid of recursive auto-encoders (a deep lear...

DevOpsDays Warsaw 2018 - Aditya Mukerjee - Unifying Your Observability Pipeline
“If a microservice falls down in the middle of a server farm, does my pager make a sound?” If your service is automatically monitored, then the answer is “yes!”. But now that you’ve been paged and roused from your slumber… what happens next? Do you stumble to your computer, bleary-eyed, trying to find the elusive problem by cross-referencing dashboards and server logs across eleven different browser tabs? Or do you have better tools that you can use to integrate your monitoring data? Unless you’re an engineer at a massive company like Google, the answer is probably “no” - most companies don’t have the resources to build all their own monitoring tools in-house. When using third-party and open-source tools for monitoring, there will always be gaps in between. Fortunately, there’s a way teams...

The two most common assault rifles in the world are the Soviet AK-47 and the American M16.[21][22] These Cold War-era rifles have been used in conflicts both large and small since the 1960s. They are used by military, police, security forces, revolutionaries, terrorists, criminals and civilians alike and will most likely continue to be used for decades to come.[23][24] As a result, they have been the subject of countless comparisons and endless
Soviet Armed Forces
Design work on the AK-47 began in 1945. In 1946, the AK-47 was presented for official military trials, and in 1948, the fixed-stock version was introduced into active service with selected units of the Soviet Army. An early development of the design was the AKS (S—Skladnoy or "folding"), which was equipped with an underfolding ...

Underwater diving is the practice of going underwater, either with breathing apparatus (scuba diving and surface supplied diving) or by breath-holding (freediving). Atmospheric diving suits or the saturation diving technique can be used to combat decompression sickness.
Diving activities are restricted to relatively shallow depths, as even armored atmospheric diving suits are unable to withstand the pressures of most of the deeper waters of the world. Diving is also restricted to conditions which are not excessively hazardous, though the level of hazard acceptable to the diver can vary considerably. Occasionally divers may dive in liquids other than water.
The term deep sea diving refers to underwater diving, usually with surface supplied equipment, and often refers specifically to the use of standard diving dress with the traditional copper helmet. Hard hat diving is any form of diving with a helmet, including the standard copper helmet, other forms of free-flow helmet and lightweight demand helmets.

Engraving of the Hammersmith Ghost in Kirby's Wonderful and Scientific Museum, a magazine published in 1804. The "ghost" turned out to be an old local cobbler who used a white sheet to get back at his apprentice.[1]
The belief in the existence of an afterlife, as well as manifestations of the spirits of the dead, is widespread, dating back to animism or ancestor worship in pre-literate cultures. Certain religious practices—funeral rites, exorcisms, and some practices of spiritualism and ritual magic—are specifically designed to rest the spirits of the dead. Ghosts are generally described as solitary, human-like essences, though stories of ghostly armies and the ghosts of animals rather than humans have also been recounted.[2][3] They are believed to haunt particular locations, objects, or people they were associated with in life. According to a 2009 study by the Pew Research Center, 18% of Americans say they have seen a ghost.[4]
The overwhelming consensus of science is that there is no proof that ghosts exist.[5] Their existence is impossible to falsify,[5] and ghost hunting has been classified as pseudoscience.[6][7][8] Despite centuries of investigation, there is no scientific evidence that any location is inhabited by spirits of the dead.[6][9] Historically, certain toxic and psychoactive plants (such as datura and hyoscyamus niger), whose use has long been associated with necromancy and the underworld, have been shown to contain anticholinergic compounds that are pharmacologically linked to dementia (specifically DLB) as well as histological patterns of neurodegeneration.[10][11] Recent research has indicated that ghost sightings may be related to degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.[12] Common prescription medication and over-the-counter drugs (such as sleep aids) may also, in rare instances, cause ghost-like hallucinations, particularly zolpidem and diphenhydramine.[13] Older reports linked carbon monoxide poisoning to ghost-like hallucinations.[14]

Other terms associated with it are apparition, haunt, phantom, poltergeist, shade, specter or spectre, spirit, spook, wraith, demons, and ghouls.
The overwhelming consensus of science is that there is no proof that ghosts exist.[5] Their existence is impossible to falsify,[5] and ghost hunting has been classified as pseudoscience.[6][7][8] Despite centuries of investigation, there is no scientific evidence that any location is inhabited by spirits of the dead.[6][9] Historically, certain toxic and psychoactive plants (such as datura and hyoscyamus niger), whose use has long been
associated with necromancy and the underworld, have been shown to contain anticholinergic compounds that are pharmacologically linked to dementia (specifically DLB) as well as histological patterns of neurodegeneration.[10][11] Recent research has indicated that ghost sightings may be related to degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.[12]
Common prescription medication and over-the-counter drugs (such as sleep aids) may also, in rare instances, cause ghost-like hallucinations, particularly zolpidem and diphenhydramine.[13]
Older reports linked carbon monoxide poisoning to ghost-like hallucinations.[14]

Old lady Europe had us forgotten
Hidden behind the wall of balkan mountains
But we stayed on the chain
Kept the gaz coming
Endure is not a shame
We live with no restrain at all
They all went blind, but one day they'll see
That East is still on the map
If you ever cross the borders of madness
You’ll find the Balkan Social Club
Before the west would crumble,
We wait for the sun
World is ours
Old lady Europe
We still can be friends
Just come and see our smiles
Once in a while
If you survive till nine
You will run for a thousand
Always at least a roof
If you can give a hand for all
They all went blind, but one day they'll see
That all you need is a good dentist

Bartosz Biskupski & Wojciech Walczak (Samsung) - How much meaning can you pack into a real-valued vector? Semantic similarity measuring using recursive auto-encoders.
http://underfitted.org/slides/WojciechWalczak_ParaphraseDetection_PyDataWarsaw.pdf
The presented model is a novel hybrid of recursive auto-encoders (a deep learning technique) and a WordNet award-penalty system, enriched with a number of other similarity models and features used as input for Linear Support Vector Regression.

The Holocaust (from the Greek ὁλόκαυστος holókaustos: hólos, "whole" and kaustós, "burnt"),[3] also referred to as the Shoah (Hebrew: השואה, HaShoah, "the catastrophe"), was a genocide in which some six million European Jews were killed by Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany, and the World War II collaborators with the Nazis.[4] The victims included 1.5 million children,[5] and represented about two-thirds of the nine million Jews who had resided in Europe.[6] A broader definition of the Holocaust includes non-Jewish victims of the Nazi campaign of mass murder,[7] based on biological factors, such as the Romani, and the Aktion T4 patients who were mentally and physically disabled.[8]
From 1941 to 1945, Jews were systematically murdered in the deadliest genocide in history, which was part of a broader aggregate of acts of oppression and killings of various ethnic and political groups in Europe.[9] Under the coordination of the SS, with directions from the highest leadership of the Nazi Party, every arm of Germany's bureaucracy was involved in the logistics and the carrying out of the mass murder.[7] Killings took place throughout German-occupied Europe, as well as within Nazi Germany, and across all territories controlled by its allies.[8] Other victims of Nazi crimes included ethnic Poles and other Slavs, Soviet citizens and Soviet POWs, communists, homosexuals, Freemasons, Jehovah's Witnesses, and others.[10] Some 42,500 detention facilities were utilized in the concentration of victims for the purpose of gross violations of human rights.[11] Over 200,000 people are estimated to have been Holocaust perpetrators.[12]
The persecution was carried out in stages, culminating in the policy of extermination of European Jews termed the "Final Solution to the Jewish Question" (die Endlösung der Judenfrage).[7] Following Hitler's rise to power, the German government passed laws to exclude Jews from civil society, most prominently the Nuremberg Laws of 1935. Starting in 1933 the Nazis began to establish a network of concentration camps. After the outbreak of war in 1939 both German and foreign Jews were herded into wartime ghettos. In 1941, as Germany began to conquer new territory in the East, all anti-Jewish measures radicalized. Specialized paramilitary units called Einsatzgruppen murdered around two million Jews in mass shootings actions in less than a year. By mid-1942, victims were being regularly transported by freight trains to extermination camps where, if they survived the journey, most were systematically killed in gas chambers. This continued until the end of World War II in Europe in April–May 1945.[13]
Jewish armed resistance was limited. The most notable exception was the Warsaw Ghetto uprising of 1943, when thousands of poorly-armed Jewish fighters held the Waffen-SS at bay for four weeks. An estimated 20,000–30,000 Jewish partisans actively fought against the Nazis and their collaborators in Eastern Europe.[14][15] French Jews took part in the French Resistance, which conducted a guerilla campaign against the Nazis and Vichy French authorities. Over a hundred armed Jewish uprisings took place.[16]

Fortunately, there’s a way teams can get the best of both worlds: high-resolution visibility into your systems, but without having to write your entire monitoring stack yourselves. We built a custom-built, open-source distributed tracing and monitoring pipeline that allows us to inspect each step of an HTTP request and diagnose the root causes of errors, leveraging the same open-source and third-party monitoring platforms you’re already used to. And with a monitoring pipeline that unifies metrics, logs, and traces, you can live the observability dream: the right data, in the right form, right when you need it.

Design work on the AK-47 began in 1945. In 1946, the AK-47 was presented for official military trials, and in 1948, the fixed-stock version was introduced into active service with selected units of the Soviet Army. An early development of the design was the AKS (S—Skladnoy or "folding"), which was equipped with an underfolding metal shoulder stock. In early 1949, the AK-47 was officially accepted by the Soviet Armed Forces[9] and used by the majority of the member states of the Warsaw Pact.
