Telenovela

A telenovela (/ˌtɛlənoʊˈvɛlə/ or /ˌtɛlənəˈvɛlə/;Spanish: [telenoˈβela], European Portuguese: [ˌtɛlɛnuˈvɛlɐ]), Brazilian Portuguese: [ˌtɛlenoˈvɛla]) is a type of limited-run serial drama and popular on European, West Asian, Southeast Asian, Latin American, East Asian, South Asian, Arab World, Brazil, Portuguese and Spanish television networks. The word combines tele, short for televisión or televisão (Spanish and Portuguese words for television), and novela, a Spanish and Portuguese word for "novel". There are similar genres to the telenovela that use the novela format, but go by varying names including teleserye (Philippines), téléroman (Canada, specifically Quebec), or simply dramas (Asia from East Asia to the Arab World).

Telenovelas are different from soap operas in that they rarely continue for more than a year. This makes them shorter than soap operas, but still much longer than serials. The telenovela combines drama with the 19th-century feuilleton, and naturally evolved from the Latin American radionovela, according to Blanca de Lizaur.

Sebastián Rulli

Sebastián Óscar Rulli (pronounced: [seβaˈstjan ˈoskaɾ ˈɾuʝi] or [ˈɾuʎi]; born July 6, 1975 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine-Mexicanactor and model.

Career

Rulli began his career modeling in many different countries in Europe, namely Spain, Italy and France as well as in Mexico and the United States. In Mexico, he enrolled in Televisa's Centro de Educación Artística (CEA), where he studied acting.

Rulli made his first appearance on Mexican television in the soap opera Primer amor, a mil por hora in 2000. He has appeared in telenovelas including Clase 406 (2002) and Rubí (2004), where he played Héctor Ferrer. His most recent role was in Televisa's telenovela Teresa as Arturo, one of the main characters.

In 2013, Rulli, along with Angelique Boyer and Luis Roberto Guzmán, starred in Angelli Nesma's Lo que la vida me robó, a remake of Ernesto Alonso's Bodas de odio produced in 1983.

Bárbara Mori

Bárbara Mori Ochoa (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈbarβaɾa ˈmoɾi oˈtʃoa]; born on 2 February 1978 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a Mexican actress, model, producer and writer.

Mori started her career in 1992 as a fashion model at the age of 14, later she became an actress when she co-starred in 1997 on the smash TV-hit Mirada De Mujer with TV Azteca; then, she starred in the soap opera Azul Tequila. Her big break came in 2004, with the telenovela Rubí (a remake of the 1968 series) by rival network Televisa, in which she played the main character. She also has starred in several self-produced films and music videos.

Biography

Mori was born on 2 February 1978. She is of Uruguayan-Mexican-Japanese-Lebanese heritage. She has two siblings, actress Kenya Mori and Kintaró Mori. Her parents, Japanese-Uruguayan Yuyi Mori and Mexican Rosario Ochoa, divorced when she was three years of age. Mori spent her early childhood between Mexico and Uruguay and finally settled in Mexico City at the age of twelve.
