KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — As Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya moved into Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan, many of their residents are likely eager to flex their wings even as Covid-19 continues to pose a risk.
From simple things like getting a haircut to playing a game of badminton, or visiting the night markets, most economic and social sectors are allowed to resume operations under Phase Two.
For those fully immunised, this freedom that allows them to enjoy some semblance of life before Covid that can no longer be taken for granted.
Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian pronunciation: [ˈkualə, -a ˈlumpo(r), -ʊ(r)]), officially the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (Malay: Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur) and colloquially referred to as KL, is a federal territory and the capital city of Malaysia. It is the largest city in Malaysia, covering an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) with an estimated population of 1.73 million as of 2016.Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.564 million people as of 2018.It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in Southeast Asia, in both population and economic development.
Kuala Lumpur is the cultural, financial and economic centre of Malaysia. It is also home to the Parliament of Malaysia and the official residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Istana Negara. Kuala Lumpur first developed around 1857 as a town serving the tin mines of the region and served as the capital of Selangor from 1880 until 1978. Kuala Lumpur was the founding capital of the Federation of Malaya and its successor Malaysia and the city remained the seat of the executive and judicial branches of the Malaysian federal government until these were relocated to Putrajaya in early 1999.[9] However, some sections of the political bodies still remain in Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur is one of the three federal territories of Malaysia,enclaved within the state of Selangor, on the central west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.Since the 1990s, the city has played host to many international sporting, political and cultural events including the 1998 Commonwealth Games and the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. Kuala Lumpur has undergone rapid development in recent decades and is home to the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Towers, which have since become an iconic symbol of Malaysian development.
Kuala Lumpur has a comprehensive road system supported by an extensive range of public transport networks, such as mass rapid transit (MRT), light rapid transit (LRT), monorail, commuter rail, public buses, hop on & hop off buses (free of charge) and airport rail links. Kuala Lumpur is one of the leading cities in the world for tourism and shopping, being the 6th most-visited city in the world in 2019.[12] The city houses three of the world's 10 largest shopping malls.
Kuala Lumpur is ranked No. 70 in the world & No. 2 in Southeast Asia for Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Ranking and No. 9 in ASPAC & No. 2 in Southeast Asia for KPMG's Leading Technology Innovation Hub 2021[15]. Kuala Lumpur was named as World Book Capital 2020 by UNESCO.
The geography of Kuala Lumpur is characterised by the huge Klang Valley. The valley is bordered by the Titiwangsa Mountains in the east, several minor ranges in the north and the south and the Strait of Malacca in the west. Kuala Lumpur is a Malay term that translates to "muddy confluence" as it is located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers.
Rail Transport in Malaysia:
Rail transport in Malaysia consists of heavy rail (including commuter rail), light rapid transit (LRT), mass rapid transit (MRT), monorails, airport rail links and a funicular railway line. Heavy rail is mostly used for intercity passenger and freight transport as well as some urban public transport, while rapid transit is used for intra-city urban public transport in Kuala Lumpur, the national capital, and the surrounding Klang Valley region. There are two airport rail link systems linking Kuala Lumpur with the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. The longest monorail line in the country is also used for public transport in Kuala Lumpur, while the only funicular railway line is in Penang.

1998 Commonwealth Games
The 1998 XVI Commonwealth Games were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 11 to 21 September 1998. The 1998 games were the first held in an Asian country and the last Commonwealth Games of the 20th century. This was also the first time the games took place in a country with a head of state other than the Head of the Commonwealth. A record 69 nations (34 of which collected medals) competed, with 3,638 athletes participating. For the first time ever, the games included team sports.
The other bid from the 1998 games came from Adelaide in Australia.

Kuala
Kuala is a town and subdistrict of Langkat Regency. It borders Selesai to the north, Salapian to the west, and Sei Bingai to the south and east. Most people in Kuala are Javanese people, with a significant Karo population. Although most Karo are Christian, many are also Muslim, and as the Javanese are nearly 100% Muslim, Kuala subdistrict is 80% Muslim.
Kuala town itself had a population of 12,459, making it by far the largest settlement in the district. Kuala town is on the main road between Binjai and Bukit Lawang.
Agriculture
Agriculture in Kuala subdistrict is relatively homogenous, with 6,425Â hectares of oil palm, 4,243Â hectares of sawah (wet rice), 880Â hectares of maize and 3,466Â hectares of natural rubber, with little land devoted to other crops. There are five factories in the subdistrict.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — As Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya moved into Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan, many of their residents are likely eager to flex their wings even as Covid-19 continues to pose a risk.
From simple things like getting a haircut to playing a game of badminton, or visiting the night markets, most economic and social sectors are allowed to resume operations under Phase Two.
For those fully immunised, this freedom that allows them to enjoy some semblance of life before Covid that can no longer be taken for granted.
Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian pronunciation: [ˈkualə, -a ˈlumpo(r), -ʊ(r)]), officially the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (Malay: Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur) and colloquially referred to as KL, is a federal territory and the capital city of Malaysia. It is the largest city in Malaysia, covering an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) with an estimated population of 1.73 million as of 2016.Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.564 million people as of 2018.It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in Southeast Asia, in both population and economic development.

Rail Transport in Malaysia:
Rail transport in Malaysia consists of heavy rail (including commuter rail), light rapid transit (LRT), mass rapid transit (MRT), monorails, airport rail links and a funicular railway line. Heavy rail is mostly used for intercity passenger and freight transport as well as some urban public transport, while rapid transit is used for intra-city urban public transport in Kuala Lumpur, the national capital, and the surrounding Klang Valley region. There are two airport rail link systems linking Kuala Lumpur with the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. The longest monorail line in the country is also used for public transport in Kuala Lumpur, while the only funicular railway line is in Penang.

According to NST, Malaysia will set another world record when its megatall structure, PNB Merdeka 118, is completed in the third quarter of next year at nearly 700 metres above sea level.
PNB Merdeka 118's current architectural height is about 644 metres, measured from the ground all the way to the top.
The true height of the 118-floor megatall structure in Kuala Lumpur is expected to be revealed next year, when it is fully completed.
When the final spire is added, the tower's final height is expected to be around 700 metres, according to those involved in its construction.
Even at 644 metres, Merdeka 118 is set to be the world's second-tallest structure.
Let's wait for this new mega structure to reveal to us.

PNB Merdeka 118's current architectural height is about 644 metres, measured from the ground all the way to the top.
The true height of the 118-floor megatall structure in Kuala Lumpur is expected to be revealed next year, when it is fully completed.
When the final spire is added, the tower's final height is expected to be around 700 metres, according to those involved in its construction.
Even at 644 metres, Merdeka 118 is set to be the world's second-tallest structure.
Let's wait for this new mega structure to reveal to us.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — As Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya moved into Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan, many of their residents are likely eager to flex their wings even as Covid-19 continues to pose a risk.
From simple things like getting a haircut to playing a game of badminton, or visiting the night markets, most economic and social sectors are allowed to resume operations under Phase Two.
For those fully immunised, this freedom that allows them to enjoy some semblance of life before Covid that can no longer be taken for granted.
Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian pronunciation: [ˈkualə, -a ˈlumpo(r), -ʊ(r)]), officially the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (Malay: Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur) and colloquially referred to as KL, is a federal territory and the capital city of Malaysia. It is the largest city in Malaysia, covering an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) with an estimated population of 1.73 million as of 2016.Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.564 million people as of 2018.It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in Southeast Asia, in both population and economic development.
Kuala Lumpur is the cultural, financial and economic centre of Malaysia. It is also home to the Parliament of Malaysia and the official residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Istana Negara. Kuala Lumpur first developed around 1857 as a town serving the tin mines of the region and served as the capital of Selangor from 1880 until 1978. Kuala Lumpur was the founding capital of the Federation of Malaya and its successor Malaysia and the city remained the seat of the executive and judicial branches of the Malaysian federal government until these were relocated to Putrajaya in early 1999.[9] However, some sections of the political bodies still remain in Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur is one of the three federal territories of Malaysia,enclaved within the state of Selangor, on the central west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.Since the 1990s, the city has played host to many international sporting, political and cultural events including the 1998 Commonwealth Games and the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. Kuala Lumpur has undergone rapid development in recent decades and is home to the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Towers, which have since become an iconic symbol of Malaysian development.
Kuala Lumpur has a comprehensive road system supported by an extensive range of public transport networks, such as mass rapid transit (MRT), light rapid transit (LRT), monorail, commuter rail, public buses, hop on & hop off buses (free of charge) and airport rail links. Kuala Lumpur is one of the leading cities in the world for tourism and shopping, being the 6th most-visited city in the world in 2019.[12] The city houses three of the world's 10 largest shopping malls.
Kuala Lumpur is ranked No. 70 in the world & No. 2 in Southeast Asia for Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Ranking and No. 9 in ASPAC & No. 2 in Southeast Asia for KPMG's Leading Technology Innovation Hub 2021[15]. Kuala Lumpur was named as World Book Capital 2020 by UNESCO.
The geography of Kuala Lumpur is characterised by the huge Klang Valley. The valley is bordered by the Titiwangsa Mountains in the east, several minor ranges in the north and the south and the Strait of Malacca in the west. Kuala Lumpur is a Malay term that translates to "muddy confluence" as it is located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers.
Rail Transport in Malaysia:
Rail transport in Malaysia consists of heavy rail (including commuter rail), light rapid transit (LRT), mass rapid transit (MRT), monorails, airport rail links and a funicular railway line. Heavy rail is mostly used for intercity passenger and freight transport as well as some urban public transport, while rapid transit is used for intra-city urban public transport in Kuala Lumpur, the national capital, and the surrounding Klang Valley region. There are two airport rail link systems linking Kuala Lumpur with the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. The longest monorail line in the country is also used for public transport in Kuala Lumpur, while the only funicular railway line is in Penang.

According to NST, Malaysia will set another world record when its megatall structure, PNB Merdeka 118, is completed in the third quarter of next year at nearly 700 metres above sea level.
PNB Merdeka 118's current architectural height is about 644 metres, measured from the ground all the way to the top.
The true height of the 118-floor megatall structure in Kuala Lumpur is expected to be revealed next year, when it is fully completed.
When the final spire is added, the tower's final height is expected to be around 700 metres, according to those involved in its construction.
Even at 644 metres, Merdeka 118 is set to be the world's second-tallest structure.

Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur (/ˈkwÉ‘Ë?ləˈlÊŠmpÊŠÉ™r/ or /-pÉ™r/; Malaysian pronunciation: [ˈkwalÉ™ ˈlumpÊŠr]) is the national capital and most populous global city in Malaysia. The city covers an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) and has an estimated population of 1.6 million as of 2010.Greater Kuala Lumpur, covering similar area as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.5 million people as of 2012. It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in South-East Asia, in terms of population and economy.
Kuala Lumpur is the seat of the Parliament of Malaysia. The city was once home to the executive and judicial branches of the federal government, but they were moved to Putrajaya in early 1999. Some sections of the judiciary still remain in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. The official residence of the Malaysian King, the Istana Negara, is also situated in Kuala Lumpur. Rated as an alpha world city, Kuala Lumpur is the cultural, financial and economic centre of Malaysia due to its position as the capital as well as being a key city. Kuala Lumpur is defined within the borders of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and is one of three Malaysian Federal Territories. It is an enclave within the state of Selangor, on the central west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Since the 1990s, the city has played host to many international sporting, political and cultural events including the 1998 Commonwealth Games and the Formula One Grand Prix. In addition, Kuala Lumpur is home to the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Twin Towers, which have become an iconic symbol of Malaysia's futuristic development.

Two theme songs from the 1998 XVI Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 16th Commonwealth Games were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 11 September to 21 September 1998, making it the first Asian country to act as host. It was also the last Commonwealth Games for the 20th century.
The logo for these games was inspired by the national flower of Malaysia, the hibiscus. The official mascot for the games was Wira (Malay for "warrior" or "hero") the orang utan.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth and Patron of the Commonwealth Games Federation declare the ceremony closed with remarks as the best Commonwealth Games ever held in the 20th Century.
International stars Céline Dion and Rod Stewart entertained the crowd on the closing ceremony. A total of 3638 athletes from 70 nations participated in the KL 1998 Commonwealth Games.

The 1998 Commonwealth Games (Malay: Sukan Komanwel 1998), officially known as the XVI Commonwealth Games (Malay: Sukan Komanwel ke-16), was a multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This edition is marked by several unprecedented facts in the history of the event. The 1998 games were the first held in an Asian country and the last Commonwealth Games of the 20th century. This was also the first time the games took place in a nation with a head of state other than the Head of the Commonwealth, and the first time the games were held in a country whose majority of the population did not have English as the first language. For the first time ever, the games included team sports. The other bid from the 1998 games came from Adelaide in Australia. Malaysia was the eighth nation to host the Commonwealth Games after Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, Wales, Jamaica and Scotland. Around 3638 athletes from 69 Commonwealth member nations participated at the games which featured 214 events in 15 sports with 34 of them collected medals.
