Twin Peaks Episode 7 Recap: Audrey's Fate (Finally) Revealed

2 hours ago | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Twin Peaks stuck (mostly) to the facts this week, and the payoff was a gorgeous bounty of desperately sought information, correctly placed puzzle-pieces, and giddy fan service. Part 7 had me bouncing off the walls with joy, anticipation and deep Lynchian tension. Very surprising considering how little actually took place, and how “normal” (comparatively) the narrative was. Yes, a miniature version of the “Tree with a Brain” did pop out of a sidewalk to instruct Coop/Dougie to “squeeze the hand off” (?) of the little-person assassin. But otherwise there wasn’t too much kookiness getting in the way of good, solid plot. »

Amazon’s ‘The Last Tycoon’ Screens in Monte Carlo After Public Pilot-Rating Process

21 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Monte Carlo, Monaco – Roy Price, global head of content for Amazon Prime Video, loves author F. Scott Fitzgerald. That’s key to the tone of “The Last Tycoon,” the big-budget series that debuts on Amazon on July 28 after a successful pilot run last year.

Originally developed for HBO by writer-director Billy Ray and showrunner Christopher Keyser, the nine-episode show, based on the final unfinished novel by the author of “The Great Gatsby,” found a home at Amazon after HBO passed on the project. Since then, Price has been crucial to the extent to which the novel is reflected in the series.

“HBO was saying, ‘We are not even sure we want to call this “The Last Tycoon” anymore. We don’t know that we are getting an advantage by referencing a Fitzgerald novel that is that old,'” Keyser said at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, where “Tycoon” is launching in Europe.

As excited as many surely are to return to Hawkins, director/producer Shawn Levy warns viewers not to get their hopes up for the return of a certain beloved character: good ol’ Barb.

“We are going to do things that fans will be disappointed in but I think they will be more satisfied by,” Levy says in a Facebook Live interview with THR. “I’ll give one example that I’ve been asked about a hundred times which is people still think Barb’s alive. Because you think you want that but you wouldn’t really want that.” »

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Megyn Kelly’s controversial interview with Alex Jones failed to rise above previous installments of Kelly’s new NBC News show in the Sunday overnight ratings.

According to Nielsen data, the new installment of “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” averaged a 0.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers, airing at 7 p.m. The previous two episodes of the freshman news show have averaged a 0.7 and 4.9 million viewers.
