Employment Opportunities

Overview

At Outrigger Hotels and Resorts we look for people who embrace the cultures and communities where they live, who actively learn from others, and who, in turn, warmly share their knowledge and experiences with co-workers and guests. We admire individuals who strive to always do their best, who are motivated by teamwork, and who treat others with fairness and respect. We value honesty and accountability as measures of strong character and welcome those who uphold these qualities in their personal and professional lives. Most importantly, we are a company that practices aloha. Every one of our 'ohana needs to feel aloha and genuinely extend aloha to all, be they guests or colleagues, strangers or friends.

If you share these values, we would be delighted to receive your application for employment.

What's it like to work at Outrigger?

Comments from members of the Outrigger 'Ohana (family):

Working at Outrigger is like coming home to family. I have made life long friends, learned to sing and dance, have fun, and most of all realized that I can make a difference.
Sandra Retail
Supervisor/Reservations

I am in Sales on the mainland, and I get feedback from agencies each day who have something great to say about Outrigger, almost always about its 'ohana and the extra care someone has taken to make their stay a memorable one. I am fortunate to be with this company which values the family and the culture of Hawaii.
Katherine

At Outrigger, I work with people who care, understand, and are considerate of my feelings and ideas. They help me come to work and face the daily challenges with confidence and still keep a smile on my face!

FAQs About Applying

Q. How long before I hear if I've been selected for an interview?
A. If you are selected for an interview for the position currently advertised, you will usually hear from us within 30 days. If you do not hear from us within that time frame, it's most likely that someone else was selected for the position. However, your application will be kept on file and you may be contacted regarding future openings.

Q. How long will my application be kept on file?
A. Your application will be kept on file for 3 months from the date of receipt.

Q. What is the starting pay?
A. Pay and benefits vary by position and by location. All compensation packages are competitive with the local market.

Q. Should I attach my resume to my application or send it in the mail?
A. No. We hire based on job qualifications, so if you've filled out the application form completely, we have all the information we need.

Q. Does Outrigger offer internships?
A. Occasionally. Generally internships are non-paid and taken as part of a graduation requirement at the intern's college or university. To date, most internships have been offered in the Waikiki location. Priority is given to applicants who are in hospitality degree programs in four-year colleges and universities.

Q. I'm a diving instructor/massage therapist/aerobics instructor. Do you ever have openings for people with my qualifications?
A. At the current time, these services, when offered in our properties, are offered by concessionaires. Therefore, Outrigger does not hire for these positions.

Q. I am willing to take any position in any location in which Outrigger operates. I'll do anything to move to a tropical destination, but I'm not qualified for any of the positions for which you're currently recruiting on-line. How can I submit an application?
A. For most positions, it is our practice at Outrigger to interview candidates locally. This helps us ensure that our employees are knowledgeable about their "place" -- the resort destination in which they will be working. This knowledge is vitally important to our success. The bottom line is that submitting your application locally and being there for an interview is your best bet.
