Triple M launching first national drive show with radio royalty

Legendary radio presenter Mick Molloy is leaving Melbourne's Triple M breakfast show to take up the hosting gig on the station's new national drive show.

Molloy has been with Triple M's The Hot Breakfast for seven years and was part of the hugely successful Martin/Molloy radio team with Tony Martin in the 90s.

Robert Irwin's Aussie accent causes confusion, Red Symons backs down, Bob Dylan's possible plagiarism, The Project's off-air gag and Katy Perry's mom-style dance moves.

He will be joined on the show by actress and comedian Jane Kennedy from The Late Show, Frontline and her recent appearances on Have You Been Paying Attention.

It is a reunion for the pair who first worked together on Triple M's breakfast show The D-Generation where she was initially the show's newsreader.

Famously the presenters made a game of trying to make Kennedy laugh while she read news bulletins with their success leading to her sacking. She then became a member of the on-air team on the show and later went on to perform with Molloy in The Late show.

"I'm rapt to be working with Mick again and I can't think of anyone better to do drive with. Plus Micky's usual excuse of sleeping through the alarm won't wash anymore," she said.

The move will see the local drive shows in some markets move into earlier timeslots to be followed by Molloy and Kennedy.

It will launch in Melbourne in October before Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, along with regional stations, join in from January.

It is the first time Triple M have had a national show in the drive timeslot.
