Kariya, Aichi

Kariya (刈谷市, Kariya-shi) is a city in central Aichi Prefecture, Japan. As of May 2015, the city had an estimated population of 149,030 and a population density of 2,960 persons per km². The total area was 50.45 square kilometres (19.48 sq mi).

History

Kariya was a castle town in the Sengoku period, in an area contested between the Imagawa clan, Oda clan and various local warlords, including the Mizuno clan and Matsudaira clan. Tokugawa Ieyasu’s maternal grandfather Mizuno Tadamasa rebuilt Kariya Castle in the mid-16th century. The Mizuno clan shifted allegiances adroitly between the Imagawa clan to Oda Nobunaga and to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who relocated the clan to Ise Province. However, Mizuno Katsunari, the grandson of Tadamasa was allowed to return to the clan’s ancestral territories by Ieyasu after the Battle of Sekigahara as daimyo of Kariya Domain a feudal han under the Tokugawa shogunate. The domain was reassigned to numerous clans during the Edo period, but was retained by the Doi clan from 1734 until the Meiji restoration.

Darshan (actor)

Darshan Thoogudeep (born 16 February 1977), mononymously addressed as Darshan, is an Indian film actor, producer and distributor who works predominantly in the Kannada film industry. He is the son of veteran Kannada actor Thoogudeepa Srinivas. Darshan initially worked in trivial roles in few films and television shows, later made his debut in a lead role in 2001 film, Majestic, and has since then starred in many commercial and critical hit films such as Kariya (2003), Namma Preethiya Ramu (2003), Kalasipalya (2005), Gaja (2008), Saarathi (2011), Chingari (2012) Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (2012), Bulbul (2013) and Ambareesha (2014).

After working behind the camera as a assistant cameraman and in small roles, he received his break in 2001 super-hit Majestic which marked the beginning of his successful career. After earning stability and fame in his acting career he forayed into film production and distribution. He established his own production house "Thoogudeepa productions" in 2006, which has since been a successful commercial venture. Its first production was Jothe Jotheyali with Darshan in a special appearance. Because of his consistent performance at box office, he is considered one of the most dependable and commercially successful star in Kannada Cinema. An avid animal lover, he is well known for his strong passion for pets, wild animals and owns a private stud in his farmhouse in the far east of Mysuru city.

Pawan Singh

Pawan Singh is an Indian Bhojpuri singer and film actor.

Career

In early 2007, Singh worked as a vocalist in Bhojpuri pop albums (Lokgeet). His first album was Odhaniya Wali (1997), followed by Kaanch Kasailli (2005). In 2008 Singh released the album Lollypop Lageli (title song). He played his first lead role with Raj Kumar in the 2007 Bhojpuri film Rangli Chunariya Tohre Naam.

Personal life

Pawan Singh's wife, Neelam Singh, reportedly committed suicide at their home residence on March 8, 2015.
