Rick Buckler (born Paul Richard Buckler, (1955-12-06) 6 December 1955, Woking, Surrey, England), is the English former drummer of The Jam, an English [mod] band that enjoyed considerable success in the United Kingdom from 1977 until disbanding in 1982. Although spearheaded by the songwriter Paul Weller, the rhythm section of Buckler on drums and Bruce Foxton on bass guitar were an integral part of The Jam's sound and success. The Jam split at the behest of Weller.
Q reported in March 2006 that Buckler was dismissive of the jazz leanings in Weller's post-Jam band The Style Council, after Weller played his ex-bandmate tapes of his new songs. Weller has not spoken to Buckler socially for more than 20 years.
In 1983, Buckler joined 'Time UK', featuring himself, Jimmy Edwards and Ray Simone, both formerly of 'MasterSwitch', Danny Kustow from the Tom Robinson Band and former Sparks/Radio Stars bassist Martin Gordon. Gordon's tenure was brief – he recorded demos and performed only one gig with the band before being replaced by Nick South of Sniff 'n' the Tears and Steve Marriott's All Stars. Time UK sold nearly 60,000 copies of their first single, "The Cabaret".
The Jam were an English punk rock/mod revival band active during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
They were formed in Woking, Surrey. While they shared the "angry young men" outlook and fast tempos of their punk rock contemporaries, The Jam wore smartly tailored suits rather than ripped clothes, and they incorporated a number of mainstream 1960s rock and R&B influences rather than rejecting them, placing The Jam at the forefront of the mod revival movement.
They had 18 consecutive Top 40 singles in the United Kingdom, from their debut in 1977 to their break-up in December 1982, including four number one hits. As of 2007, "That's Entertainment" and "Just Who Is the 5 O'Clock Hero?" remained the best-selling import singles of all time in the UK. They released one live album and six studio albums, the last of which, The Gift, hit number one on the UK album charts. When the group split up, their first 15 singles were re-released and all placed within the top 100.
The band drew upon a variety of stylistic influences over the course of their career, including 1960s beat music, soul, rhythm and blues and psychedelic rock, as well as 1970s punk and new wave. The trio was known for its melodic pop songs, its distinctly English flavour and its mod image. The band launched the career of Paul Weller, who went on to form The Style Council and later had a successful solo career. Weller wrote and sang most of The Jam's original compositions, and he played lead guitar, using a Rickenbacker. Bruce Foxton provided backing vocals and prominent basslines, which were the foundation of many of the band's songs, including the hits "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight", "The Eton Rifles", "Going Underground" and "Town Called Malice".

Bruce Foxton (born 1 September 1955) is an English singer, musician, and composer.
With Paul Weller and Rick Buckler he gained worldwide fame as a member of The Jam, one of the most popular and influential acts in the history of rock music ; his backing vocals and prominent basslines were the foundation of many of the band's songs, including the hits "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight", "The Eton Rifles", "Going Underground" and "Town Called Malice". He occasionally performed the lead vocals, such as on the songs "News of the World", "David Watts", and "Smithers-Jones". After the band's break-up, he pursued a brief moderately successful solo career releasing one album, Touch Sensitive in 1984, and later joined the band, Stiff Little Fingers in 1990.

This is live music at its best. From the Jam perform The Jam's first Top 10 hit "The Eton Rifles", which originally charted at No. 3 in the UK Top 40. This song was the only Jam song not to have an official video recorded and was the only single to be released by The Jam from the original "Setting Sons" album in 1979. "The Eton Rifles" is about the difficulties faced by unemployed and lower paid working class people protesting against a system loaded against them. The Jam -- Snap! (full double disc album) Released October, 1983, reissued 2006 -- Polygram Records "Released...just after Paul Weller disbanded the band at the peak of their popularity, Snap! was the first greatest-hits album from the Jam. At the original 29-track length and sequencing, Snap! is nothing short of a masterpiece, a record that briskly and bracingly tells the story of one of the great rock bands. This isn't just an introduction, it's a narrative, tracing the rapid rise of the Jam from nervy, confrontational teenage punks to sharp modern pop purveyors to stylish soul-inflected rockers. Since this is a compilation, their growth is more dramatic and evident than on their individual albums, and since a lot of this growth happened on singles that didn't reach the LPs -- particul...

The Documentary was first bradcast in 2006, 'Into Tomorrow' takes a look at the amazing 30-year career of Paul Weller, Weller himself tells his very own story and biography almost with the input of some of those close to his heart and who know him. Using unseen photos and archive footage, it covers his upbringing in Woking, his years with The Jam and The Style Council, his insecurity after being dropped by a record company and his return to popularity in the 1990s.

The Jam -- Snap! (full double disc album) Released October, 1983, reissued 2006 -- Polygram Records "Released...just after Paul Weller disbanded the band at the peak of their popularity, Snap! was the first greatest-hits album from the Jam. This isn't just an introduction, it's a narrative, tracing the rapid rise of the Jam from nervy, confrontational teenage punks to sharp modern pop purveyors to stylish soul-inflected rockers. Toilet slaves who eat shit and beg for it,
lusty bitches: bound, gagged and whipped,
a nine-year-old girl forced to give head:
but this is snuff - she gets pumped full of lead
and the walls came down,
and the band played on
and the song remains the same...
Masturbating amputees,
animals getting raped,
fetishism and sodomy:
porno shows us the Way
Rubber diapers, sit on his back:
inflamed ass gets twenty more whacks;
motorized genitals, turning a trick:
we call it love, you call it sick;
There's give and there's take,
but the more things change,
