"We normally aren't fans of the phrase 'creative differences', but for once this cliche is true," they said. "We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew."
Lucasfilm reportedly fired the pair because Kennedy didn't like their vision for the film, or the way they managed the cast and crew. Kennedy has said in the past she wanted the Han Solo movie to have a Western feel to it, whereas Lord and Miller are known for more quirkyprojects.
"It was a culture clash from day one," one source told Variety. "She didn't even like the way they folded their socks."
Whatever the differences, they were clearly significant given the movie had just weeks before filming wrapped. Principal photography kicked off back in February.
Despite the setback, Lucasfilm expects the untitled Han Solo film to still hit cinemas in May 2018. The movie will explore how Han Solo came to own the Millennium Falcon, and star Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke.
