The Sun is a daily tabloid newspaper published in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Founded in 1964 as a successor broadsheet to the Daily Herald, it became a tabloid in 1969 after it was purchased by its current owners. It is published by the News Group Newspapers division of News UK, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
The Sun had the largest circulation of any daily newspaper in the United Kingdom, but in late 2013 slipped to second largest Saturday newspaper behind the Daily Mail. It had an average daily circulation of 2.2 million copies in March 2014. Between July and December 2013 the paper had an average daily readership of approximately 5.5 million, with approximately 31% of those falling into the ABC1 demographic and 68% in the C2DE demographic. Approximately 41% of readers are women. The Sun has been involved in many controversies in its history, including its coverage of the 1989 Hillsborough football stadium disaster. Regional editions of the newspaper for Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are published in Glasgow (The Scottish Sun), Belfast (The Sun) and Dublin (The Irish Sun) respectively.
Scottish usually refers to something of, from, or related to Scotland, including:
Clyde 1 is a Scottish independent local radio station serving Glasgow and West Central Scotland. The station, operated by Radio Clyde (part of Bauer Radio), broadcasts on 102.5 FM with relays covering Rothesay on 102.3 FM, the Firth of Clyde on 103.3 FM and the Vale of Leven on 97 FM, as well as on DAB and online. Clyde 1 forms part of Bauer's City 1 network of stations.
Clyde 1 was born out of the compulsory transmission splitting enforced by the UK regulators in the 1990s, developing the FM frequency into Radio Clyde into a Top-40 format radio station.
The development of live-streaming and digital radio led to a widening of the station's potential audience through carriage on the station's website and Bauer Radio's DAB multiplex in Glasgow.
The station's Freeview carriage came as a consequence of the closure of stable-mate 3C by the station's then-owners, and resulted in UK-wide coverage.
On 31 December 2013, Radio Clyde celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Every year Clyde 1 holds an event which they call Clyde 1 Live at the SECC in Glasgow. The event includes some of the many artists which are broadcast on the station, past events have featured Calvin Harris, Labrinth, Jessie J, Olly Murs, The Sugababes, Amelia Lily, Pixie Lott, Mcfly, Lawson, Cover Drive, Matt Cardle, Gary Barlow,John Newman, The Vamps and also Dappy.
Gordon Smart (born 31 March 1980 in Edinburgh and raised in Kinross) is a Scottish journalist and editor of The Sun's Scottish edition.
Smart's career in journalism started at DC Thomson in Dundee where he was employed as a junior reporter on the Evening Telegraph and Dundee Courier in June 1998. He studied journalism at Napier University in Edinburgh.
Unable to find work in newspapers Smart turned to football earning a living coaching for Dutch company Coerver between 2001–02. After a second serious football injury he returned to Scotland to work for Deadline Press and Picture Agency, covering news in the east of Scotland. During the MTV Europe Music Awards held in Edinburgh in 2003, Smart got his big break after a former colleague from DC Thomson introduced him to Victoria Newton, then editor of the Bizarre showbiz column of The Sun newspaper. The introduction resulted in shifts in London which then paved the way for a move to the News of the World on a three-month contract.

The back page of the Scottish Sun on Monday caught many people’s eyes, after the tabloid decided to have a moan about a failed bit of skill. 19-year-old Nathan Oduwa is currently on loan at Rangers from Tottenham Hotspur, however the Spurs teenager has ticked off the local red-top. Oduwa tried to pull off a rainbow flick against Alloa Athletic on Sunday, but it didn’t come off. For that, the Scottish Sun have attacked the Rangers man for being a “show-off”. Rangers won the match 5-1.
Another self-made song I wrote inspired of the Highlands. Lyrics: I pause my walk for a while And wander from my Way I give my weary feet a rest Here I want to stay I haven't seen a human soul For more than just a while I have become one with the road Have been walking mile by mile Alone I have had time for thoughts And feelings deep, sincere Time to recall felicity Time to lose my fears I Wonder if anybody anytime stood exactly where i stand now And if he got the ideas That are rushing through my head right now I wonder who has been here before We've gone a Long Way And then the Scottish sky clears up And I feel home on the bens, in the glenns And then the Scottish sun shines And I feel like becoming a part of it With the warm sun shining in my face I feel stirred and I feel ble...

This week St Anthony is joined by The Scottish Sun's Chief Football Writer Mr Robert Grieve to talk football AND Saint provides the bombshell right at the start that Robert IS actually a ST Mirren fan - yes a real live one - although a thought did occur that maybe that's why St Mirren's average attendance is so low, all the St Mirren fans are busy reporting at other grounds across Scotland.... I hope you enjoy and please don't forget your food parcels to mark 100th year of Brother Walfrid's passing.

This video with audio commentary shows Nordhavn 52 Dirona making a three-night pass through Scotland’s Crinan Canal starting at the village of Ardrishaig in the south and ending at Crinan in the north. The Crinan Canal was built between 1793 and 1801. The canal provides a navigable route between the Firth of Clyde and the Inner Hebrides, avoiding the longer run around Kintyre Peninsula and the the exposed and current-swept Mull of Kintyre. Originally built for commercial vessels, the canal today mostly is used by pleasure craft with about 2,000 transiting annually.
