Angelo Badalamenti (born March 22, 1937) is an American composer, best known for his work scoring films for director David Lynch, notably Blue Velvet, the Twin Peaks saga (1990–1992, 2016), The Straight Story and Mulholland Drive. Badalamenti received the 1990 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for his "Twin Peaks Theme", and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Soundtrack Awards and the Henry Mancini Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
Badalamenti was born in Brooklyn, New York to an Italian family; his father was a fish market owner. He began taking piano lessons at age eight. By the time Badalamenti was a teenager, his aptitude at the piano earned him a summer job accompanying singers at resorts in the Catskill Mountains. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music and then earned Master of Arts degrees in composition, French horn, and piano from the Manhattan School of Music in 1960.
Twin Peaks is an American television serial drama created by Mark Frost and David Lynch. It follows an investigation headed by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) into the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) in the fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington. Its pilot episode was broadcast on April 8, 1990, on ABC. Seven more episodes were produced, and the series was renewed for a second season that aired until June 10, 1991.
Twin Peaks explores the gulf between the veneer of small-town respectability and the seedier life beneath. As the series progresses, the inner darkness of characters who initially appeared innocent is revealed, and they are seen to lead double lives. Its unsettling tone and supernatural features are consistent with horror films, but its campy, melodramatic portrayal of quirky characters engaged in dubious activities parodies of American soap operas. Like much of Lynch's work, the show represents an earnest moral inquiry distinguished by both offbeat humor and surrealism.
David Keith Lynch (born January 20, 1946) is an American director, screenwriter, visual artist, musician, actor, and author. Known for his surrealist films, he has developed a unique cinematic style. The surreal and, in many cases, violent elements contained within his films have been known to "disturb, offend or mystify" audiences.
Born to a middle-class family in Missoula, Montana, Lynch spent his childhood traveling around the United States, before going on to study painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, where he first made the transition to producing short films. He moved to Los Angeles, where he produced his first motion picture, the surrealist horror film Eraserhead (1977). After Eraserhead became a cult classic on the midnight movie circuit, Lynch was employed to direct a biographical film about a deformed man, Joseph Merrick, titled The Elephant Man (1980), from which he gained mainstream success. He was then employed by the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group, and proceeded to make two films: the science-fiction epic Dune (1984), which proved to be a critical and commercial failure, and then a neo-noir crime film, Blue Velvet (1986), which was critically acclaimed.
Angelo is an Italian masculine given name meaning "angel", or "messenger". Angelo is also an Italian surname that has many variations: Angeli (disambiguation), Angela (disambiguation), De Angelis, D'Angelo, Angelini, Angelino (disambiguation), Angelina (disambiguation), Angelucci, Angeloni, Angeletti (disambiguation).
Twins are two offspring produced by the same pregnancy. Twins can either be monozygotic ("identical"), meaning that they can develop from just one zygote that will then split and form two embryos, or dizygotic ("fraternal"), meaning that they can develop from two different eggs; each are fertilized by separate sperm cells.
In contrast, a fetus which develops alone in the womb is called a singleton, and the general term for one offspring of a multiple birth is multiple.
The twin birth rate in the United States rose 76% from 1980 through 2009, from 18.9 to 33.3 per 1,000 births. The Yoruba have the highest rate of twinning in the world, at 45–50 twin sets (or 90–100 twins) per 1,000 live births, possibly because of high consumption of a specific type of yam containing a natural phytoestrogen which may stimulate the ovaries to release an egg from each side.
In Central Africa there are 18–30 twin sets (or 36–60 twins) per 1,000 live births. In Latin America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, the lowest rates are found; only 6 to 9 twin sets per 1,000 live births. North America and Europe have intermediate rates of 9 to 16 twin sets per 1,000 live births.

An outstanding film from David Lynch and an ethereal score from Angelo Badalamenti. This piece is a haunting yet beautiful score and it, to me, is one of the greatest pieces ever written and it's conducted by Badalamenti himself. If you haven't seen Mulholland Drive I highly suggest it. It's one of the greatest films out there and features an amazing, multi-layered performance from Naomi Watts.

A very sympathetic interview with composer Angelo Badalamenti about his collaboration with David Lynch made in conjunction with the Mulholland Drive release in 2001. He tells the story of how they met during the Blue Velvet finalization and how their cooperation works. He also tells the story behind the brilliant lead actress casting meeting scene in Mulholland Drive where he plays the mafioso Castigliani brother who has serious problems with his espresso.

Xiu Xiu return to Australia for the final performances of their acclaimed concert series. In 2015 the Australian Cinémathèque, GOMA commissioned Xiu Xiu to reinterpret the music of TV series 'Twin Peaks'. Compositions and songs by composer Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch were given a startling makeover and presented in two sell-out performances. The music has since been presented throughout Europe, Russia and the United States, most recently at Lynch's own Festival of Disruption. Led by Jamie Stewart, Angela Seo and Shayna Dunkelman, the music of Xiu Xiu defies simple description. It's a mix of post punk and synth pop, classical and experimental styles, full of brutality and emotional depth. Xiu Xiu's performance isn't simply a recreation of the 'Twin Peaks' soundtrack, but provides a...

The Twin Peaks Archive by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti is an album with rare and unreleased tracks from both the television series as well as the prequel film. The catalog was initially released between 2011 and 2012 via davidlynch.com as individual songs (priced $0.99) or discounted bundles. None of the 212 songs were —at least in their full-length form— previously included in the Music From Twin Peaks, Twin Peaks Season Two Music And More and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me soundtracks. Rare Twin Peaks production stills appeared in the background on David Lynch’s website, and Twin Peaks fan Ross Dudle made beautiful, grungy cover designs for every track.

During the series, the Harold scores were quite unique in there own special way. [Synth/Ambient/Electronic/Orchestration/Jazz/OST] Here is the FULL Soundtrack Score for "Twin Peaks: The Extended Mix" (music scores by Badalamenti). Because most of the music of Twin Peaks was created before scenes were filmed, it was the job of the music editor to fit the tracks to the action on screen. Often times that meant editing the tracks down or only playing portions of them when tracks were lengthier than the scene itself. But sometimes it meant extending shorter tracks to fit longer scenes. This was most often done by looping sections of the tracks. This mix gathers those used, along with a few originals. (Most of these tracks are also fan favorites of mine and many other Twin Peaks fans) Want more? Then please feel free to also check out my video of Twin Peaks: The Windom Ea...

Just to clarify, this is taken off from the BBC 1 Essential Mix (05-19-2012) mixed by Nicolas Jaar (for those of you who haven't listen to it yet, I highly recommend it for a relaxed Saturday morning). Personally, I think his song playlist is genius. I love the simple transition from song to song, and yet keeping its connection throughout the whole mix. Also, those song choices are just phenomenal. The songs played here is "Angelo Badalamenti - Conversation On Twin Peaks" and "The Four Brothers - Greenfields." There's something hauntingly beautiful about that raw elegance taken off from the interview of Angelo Badalamenti for Twin Peaks. I love a sense of connection with real life in a song whether if it's just a water FX or a human conversation. I will keep this ranting short here 'cau...
