Family law (also called matrimonial law) is an area of the law that deals with family matters and domestic relations, including:
This list is not exhaustive and varies depending on jurisdiction. In many jurisdictions in the United States, the family courts see the most crowded dockets. Litigants representative of all social and economic classes are parties within the system.
For the conflict of laws elements dealing with transnational and interstate issues, see marriage (conflict), divorce (conflict) and nullity (conflict).
In the context of human society, a family (from Latin: familia) is a group of people affiliated by consanguinity (by recognized birth), affinity (by marriage), or co-residence (as implied by the etymology of the English word "family") and/or shared consumption (see nurture kinship). Members of the immediate family includes spouses, parents, brothers, sisters, sons and/or daughters. Members of the extended family may include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and/or siblings-in-law.
In most societies, the family is the principal institution for the socialization of children. As the basic unit for raising children, anthropologists generally classify most family organization as matrifocal (a mother and her children); conjugal (a husband, his wife, and children, also called the nuclear family); avuncular (for example, a grandparent, a brother, his sister, and her children); or extended (parents and children co-reside with other members of one parent's family). Sexual relations among the members are regulated by rules concerning incest such as the incest taboo.
The Family Law is an Australian comedy television series created by Benjamin Law. The six-part series, loosely adapted from Law's 2010 book of the same name, was written by Law and Marieke Hardy. The series was produced by Matchbox Pictures and will screen on SBS from 14 January 2016.
The series follows the dysfunctional world of a Chinese-Australian family through the eyes of 14-year-old Benjamin Law. It is set on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland over a long, hot summer the family will never forget. The family consists of Benjamin Law, eldest sister Candy, older brother Andrew, sisters Tammy and Michelle and parents Jenny and Danny.
A family is a domestic or social group.

If it wasn't for TV Channels Lover, I would of never seen this so shoutout goes to him for finding this! Yep, apparently this is a rare CBS show that for some weird reason CBS refuses to acknowledge. There is commercials during this for two reasons: 1. I'm too lazy to cut them out and 2. someone out there might appreciate CBS commercials. From Wikipedia: "Family Law is an American television drama starring Kathleen Quinlan as divorced lawyer Lynn Holt, who attempted to start her own law firm after her husband left both her and their law practice, taking all of their clients with him. The series aired on CBS from 1999 to 2002 and was created by Paul Haggis.".
Beasley Allen lawyer Parker Miller fills in as guest host for this week's episode of The Beasley Allen Report. He welcomes special guest attorney Judy Barganier. She is a former prosecutor in the Montgomery County District Attorney's office, where she prosecuted domestic violence and sexual assault cases. When she left the DA's office, she went into practice focusing on Family Law. The practice of Family Law encompasses a variety of issues including divorce, child custody, alimony and property division, child support, and adoption. Barganier says Family Law cases may be ongoing for years, depending on changing issues with child custody as children grow older, and issues that may arise when one parent relocates to a different residence, or moves to a different geographic area.

She is still practicing law at her law firm called Honorable Legal Services with one partner. In May of 2010, Judge Salcido became the first sitting whistleblower judge in the US after discovering a chronic pattern of placing politics over citizen safety. Her non-profit organization, JAWS, serves as a clearinghouse of examples of chronic problems in America's court system. The group promotes easy remedies to fix what they describe as "the court crisis" and among other things, they aim to expose what they contend is "bias against protective parents in the Family Courts."
