Using a cane or crutch when you have an injury can be very confusing especially when characters on TV shows don't even use them right! Once you get the hang of it, it becomes very easy and natural. When we walk normally, our opposite arm swings forward with our opposite leg. When using a cane, you want the same technique so you don't risk injuring something else while you are recovering.
The most important part to start with is to make sure your cane is the right height. Most canes have a pin you can push in to change the height. On your upper leg there is a bone that sticks out called your greater trochanter. It is just below your hip. This is where you want the top of the cane. You should have a slight bend in your elbow about 20 degrees. If the cane is too high, you might irritate your shoulder, and if it is too low, you might lean over too much.
Now for the walking part. The cane should be in the opposite hand of the injured side. Yes, House, MD did it wrong! The cane should always move with the injured side. If the injured side goes forward, the cane goes forward for support. Again, this is how our bodies naturally move; so don't think about it too much. Just move how you would normally move. The cane should be for balance and safety, and if you feel like you are pushing really hard on it, or if you can't walk smoothly, then you probably are not ready for a cane yet.

The only normal types we had were War Head Wildberry Candy Canes & Jelly Belly Tutti Frutti, Watermelon & Blueberry Candy Canes! Thumbs up for trying out all these cool flavors! At the end, the kids blend up all of the flavors into a smoothie and taste it! YUCK!

Cane
Cane is any of various tall, perennial grasses with flexible, woody stalks, and more specifically from the genus Arundinaria.
Scientifically speaking, there are either of two genera from the family Poaceae. The genus Arundo is native from the Mediterranean Basin to the Far East. The genus Arundinaria is a bamboo (Bambuseae) found in the New World. Neither genus includes sugarcane (genus Saccharum, tribe Andropogoneae).
Cane commonly grows in large riparian stands known as canebrakes, found in toponyms throughout the Southern and Western United States; they are much like the tules (Schoenoplectus acutus) of California.
Depending on strength, cane can be fashioned for various purposes, including walking sticks, crutches, assistive canes or judicial or school canes. Where canes are used in corporal punishment, they must meet particular specifications, such as a high degree of flexibility. Cane historically has been used for many other purposes such as baskets, furniture, boats, roofs and wherever stiff, withy sticks can be put to good use.

Candy cane
A candy cane or peppermint stick is a cane-shaped stick candy often associated with Christmastide, as well as Saint Nicholas Day. It is traditionally white with red stripes and flavored with peppermint, but is also made in a variety of other flavors and colors.
Origins
According to folklore, in 1670, in Cologne, Germany, the choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral, wishing to remedy the noise caused by children in his church during the Living Crèche tradition of Christmas Eve, asked a local candy maker for some sweet sticks for them. In order to justify the practice of giving candy to children during worship services, he asked the candy maker to add a crook to the top of each stick, which would help children remember the shepherds who visited the infant Jesus. In addition, he used the white colour of the converted sticks to teach children about the Christian belief in the sinless life of Jesus. From Germany, candy canes spread to other parts of Europe, where they were handed out during plays reenacting the Nativity. As such, according to this legend, the candy cane became associated with Christmastide.

Using a cane or crutch when you have an injury can be very confusing especially when characters on TV shows don't even use them right! Once you get the hang of it, it becomes very easy and natural. When we walk normally, our opposite arm swings forward with our opposite leg. When using a cane, you want the same technique so you don't risk injuring something else while you are recovering.
The most important part to start with is to make sure your cane is the right height. Most canes have a pin you can push in to change the height. On your upper leg there is a bone that sticks out called your greater trochanter. It is just below your hip. This is where you want the top of the cane. You should have a slight bend in your elbow about 20 degrees. If the cane is too high, you might irritate your shoulder, and if it is too low, you might lean over too much.
Now for the walking part. The cane should be in the opposite hand of the injured side. Yes, House, MD did it wrong! The cane should always move with the injured side. If the injured side goes forward, the cane goes forward for support. Again, this is how our bodies naturally move; so don't think about it too much. Just move how you would normally move. The cane should be for balance and safety, and if you feel like you are pushing really hard on it, or if you can't walk smoothly, then you probably are not ready for a cane yet.

Using a cane or crutch when you have an injury can be very confusing especially when characters on TV shows don't even use them right! Once you get the hang of it, it becomes very easy and natural. When we walk normally, our opposite arm swings forward with our opposite leg. When using a cane, you want the same technique so you don't risk injuring something else while you are recovering.
The most important part to start with is to make sure your cane is the right height. Most canes have a pin you can push in to change the height. On your upper leg there is a bone that sticks out called your greater trochanter. It is just below your hip. This is where you want the top of the cane. You should have a slight bend in your elbow about 20 degrees. If the cane is too high, you might irritate your shoulder, and if it is too low, you might lean over too much.
Now for the walking part. The cane should be in the opposite hand of the injured side. Yes, House, MD did it wrong! The cane should always move with the injured side. If the injured side goes forward, the cane goes forward for support. Again, this is how our bodies naturally move; so don't think about it too much. Just move how you would normally move. The cane should be for balance and safety, and if you feel like you are pushing really hard on it, or if you can't walk smoothly, then you probably are not ready for a cane yet.

Raising Cane's is an American fast food restaurant serving chicken fingers with their special cane's sauce, Texas toast, coleslaw, and sweet tea. Raising Cane's originated in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1996 and has, since then, expanded through out the states. Their chicken is crispy, tender, and unbelievably delicious. I may be a bit dramatic during my review of Raising Cane's, however, I really do stand by the quality of their chicken fingers.
**Note: I made an amateur move and failed to connect my microphone to my camera. The audio recording that you are hearing is coming directly from the camera and has picked up unnecessary noises and buzzing; I apologize if it does get irritating.

**Things you will need for this project are 4 colored clay's of your choosing I suggest 4 2oz blocks(or keep it simple and do two), white clay (also 4 2 oz blocks) and translucent clay (approx 2 to 4 oz), an acrylic roller, tissue blade and a pasta machine. **
Lesson 1 - 1:05 - Skinner Blend and Bulls-eye Cane
Lesson 2 - 11:10 Flower construction
Lesson 3 - 37:30 Packing & Reduction. This is a long process, watch for helpful tips and tricks to reducing.
Smaller canes will reduce much faster, but reduce in the same manner.
A step by step in detail tutorial on making a polymer clay flower cane. If there are area's you are already familiar with then feel free to skip past as this is quite a long video. This is my first public tutorial, between the cane making and the video editing, it was a three day project so please help by subscribing and giving a thumb's up (I am new to this so grow with me). :D
There are many editing errors in this video - It's a long video that took a very long time to process so some parts of this tutorial are missing (the beginning of where I show my clay colors and triangle making) and some didn't want to edit out (bloopers). With taking so long to process I left it as is. Thanks for understanding.
