Now in stock - Brompton folding bikes! We are very excited to carry one of the best folding bikes. Bromptons are incredible. They fold up to the size of a suitcase and are portable enough to be brought on airplanes, commuter trains, buses, or stowed on boats. They make great commuter bicycles and even better travel bicycles. The Brompton frame is an incredible hand made work of art. It's actually brazed together in the tradition of classic handmade steel bicycles in a factory just outside of London in the UK.
Will Butler-Adams joined Brompton Bicycles in 2002, became a director in 2006 and took over as the MD in 2008 - he came into Google's London office to discuss innovation, leadership, the cult of Brompton’s folding bikes and how his company reacts to ever changing consumer demands. Filmed in London, July 2016.

On a rainy evening with grid-locked traffic in Kuala Lumpur, it took my only 24 minutes to bicycle home (7.7 km). My friend, who was meeting me for dinner near my home, drove 2/3 of the same route as me, but took more than 1 hour(!)
Needless to say, I was very happy to be bicycling and not driving :-)
The video documents this commute through Kuala Lumpur, which takes place from the Pullman Hotel, Bangsar, which is located next to the big Menara TM building (the one that looks like a bamboo shoot) to my home at Bukit Bintang.
For this commute, I'm wearing office attire (shirt + trousers), as I was attending a the Green Buildings & Parks conference. While getting somewhat sweaty on the commute back, only my shirt had to go into the laundry basket.
Enjoy the ride - once again showing that bicycling is a real and often preferred option in Kuala Lumpur!

Brompton Bicycle
Brompton Bicycle is a manufacturer of folding bicycles based in Brentford, London.
The Brompton folding bicycle and accessories are the company's core product, noted for its self-supporting compact size when stored. All available models of the folding bicycle are based on the same hinged bicycle frame and 16 inch (37×349 mm) bicycle wheel tyre size. Components are added, removed, or replaced by titanium parts to form the many variations. The modular design has remained fundamentally unchanged since the original patent was filed by Andrew Ritchie in 1979, with small details being refined by continual improvement. Ritchie was awarded the 2009 Prince Philip Designers Prize for work on the bicycle. In reviews of folding bicycles, the Brompton is often the winner.
Brompton is the largest volume bicycle manufacturer in Britain. Approximately 40,000 bicycles are produced by the company each year.
Design
All Brompton folding bicycle models share the same curved frame, consisting of a hinged main tube, pivoting rear triangle, fork, and hinged handle-bar stem. The main tube and stem are made of steel in all models. The rear triangle and fork are either steel or titanium, depending on model. The steel sections are joined by brazing – not welding. Wheels are 349 mm (13.7 in) rim size, carrying tyres with 16″ tread diameter. The handlebars and some peripheral components are aluminium.

Needless to say, I was very happy to be bicycling and not driving :-)
The video documents this commute through Kuala Lumpur, which takes place from the Pullman Hotel, Bangsar, which is located next to the big Menara TM building (the one that looks like a bamboo shoot) to my home at Bukit Bintang.
For this commute, I'm wearing office attire (shirt + trousers), as I was attending a the Green Buildings & Parks conference. While getting somewhat sweaty on the commute back, only my shirt had to go into the laundry basket.
Enjoy the ride - once again showing that bicycling is a real and often preferred option in Kuala Lumpur!

On a rainy evening with grid-locked traffic in Kuala Lumpur, it took my only 24 minutes to bicycle home (7.7 km). My friend, who was meeting me for dinner near my home, drove 2/3 of the same route as me, but took more than 1 hour(!)
Needless to say, I was very happy to be bicycling and not driving :-)
