The Great Hall of the People (simplified Chinese: 人民大会堂; traditional Chinese: 人民大會堂; pinyin: Rénmín Dàhuìtáng) is located at the western edge of Tiananmen Square, Beijing, People's Republic of China (PRC). It is used for legislative and ceremonial activities by the PRC and the Communist Party of China.
It functions as the meeting place of the full sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC), the Chinese parliament, which occurs every year during March along with the national session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a political advisory body. It is also the meeting place of the National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which, since 1982, has occurred once every five years.
The Great Hall is also used for many special events, including national level meetings of various social and political organizations, large anniversary celebrations, as well as the memorial services for former leaders.
The Great Hall of the People was opened in September 1959. It was one of the "Ten Great Constructions" completed for the 10th Anniversary of the PRC. It was built in 10 months by volunteers.
The Sunday People is a British tabloid Sunday newspaper, founded as The People on 16 October 1881.
It is published by the Trinity Mirror Group, and shares a website with the Mirror papers. In July 2011 it had an average Sunday circulation of 806,544. By January 2014 the circulation had shrunk to 374,820. Despite its tagline claim to be a "truly independent" newspaper, The People endorsed the Labour Party at the 2015 general election on the recommendation of polling data from its readers.
A great hall is the main room of a royal palace, nobleman's castle or a large manor house or hall house in the Middle Ages, and continued to be built in the country houses of the 16th and early 17th centuries, although by then the family used the great chamber for eating and relaxing. At that time the word "great" simply meant big, and had not acquired its modern connotations of excellence. In the medieval period the room would simply have been referred to as the "hall", unless the building also had a secondary hall, but the term "great hall" has been predominant for surviving rooms of this type for several centuries, to distinguish them from the different type of hall found in post-medieval houses. Great halls were found especially in France, England and Scotland, but similar rooms were also found in some other European countries.
A typical great hall was a rectangular room between one and a half and three times as long as it was wide, and also higher than it was wide. It was entered through a screens passage at one end, and had windows on one of the long sides, often including a large bay window. There was often a minstrels' gallery above the screens passage. At the other end of the hall was the dais where the top table was situated. The lord's family's more private rooms lay beyond the dais end of the hall, and the kitchen, buttery and pantry were on the opposite side of the screens passage.
A people is a plurality of persons considered as a whole, as is the case with an ethnic group or nation. Collectively, for example, the contemporary Frisians and Danes are two related Germanic peoples, while various Middle Eastern ethnic groups are often linguistically categorized as the Semitic people. See the list of contemporary ethnic groups for more examples.
Various republics govern, or claim to govern, in the name of the people. Both the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire used the Latin term Senatus Populusque Romanus, (the Senate and People of Rome). This term was fixed to Roman legionary standards, and even after the Roman Emperors achieved a state of total personal autarchy, they continued to wield their power in the name of the Senate and People of Rome.
A People's Republic is typically a Marxist or socialist one-party state that claims to govern on behalf of the people. Populism is another umbrella term for various political tendencies that claim to represent the people, usually with an implication that they serve the common people instead of the elite.
In architecture, a hall is a relatively large space enclosed by a roof and walls. In the Iron Age, a mead hall was such a simple building and was the residence of a lord and his retainers. Later, rooms were partitioned from it, and the space next to the front door became the entrance hall. Today, the (entrance) hall of a house is the space next to the front door or vestibule leading to the rooms directly and/or indirectly. Where the hall inside the front door of a house is elongated, it may be called a passage, corridor (from Spanish corredor used in El Escorial and 100 years later in Castle Howard) or hallway.
The term hall is often used to designate a British or Irish country house such as a hall house, or specifically a Wealden hall house, and manor houses.
In later medieval Europe, the main room of a castle or manor house was the great hall. In a medieval building, the hall was where the fire was kept. With time, its functions as dormitory, kitchen, parlour and so on were divided off to separate rooms or, in the case of the kitchen, a separate building.

Cardiff City Hall is a cornerstone of civic engagement in the United Kingdom. The magisterial clock tower looms above a sprawling plaza, lovely gardens, and charming streets. Inside the four-faced tower are three bells that continue to chime the hour for the city's people. The fifth structure to hold this honor, the current hall was erected in the early 1900's. This building exemplifies the popular Edwardian architectural style of the time. From any angle, Cardiff City Hall reflects the austerity of what it represents.

Karl Johans gate is the main walking street of Oslo. It stretches from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S) on one side, to the Royal Palace (Slottet) on the other. Btw. "Karl Johans gate" literally means "Karl Johan's Street". The Visit Oslo tourist information office is located at the east side of Oslo Central Station. On the place outside of the station (Jernbanetorget) there is a clock tower called Trafikanten, which houses the Public Transportation Information office. The lower parts of Karl Johan, and especially the first intersecting street, Skippergata, is infamous for junkies and street prostitution. Many people believe that the key to understanding human civilization and history is hidden in the Hall of Records. There are a number of references to this mysterious hall, which has possibly been rediscovered buried in Egypt, one possibility including the undergrounds of the enigmatic Sphinx of Giza, which oversees the Giza Pyramids. Providing this huge underground library has been discovered, it could change history and the origin of the Ancient Egyptian Civilization forever. It is believed that the Hall of Records not only holds the history of the Ancient Egyptians recorded on ancient papyrus scrolls, but also the history and the location of the lost continent of Atlantis. The Egyptian Hall of Records has the same significance as the Great Library of Alexandria, which holds the history...

A televised lecture on the climate crisis by William H. Calvin, given in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, December 2007. Thanks to upsetting our climate with a series of low-tech practices such as cutting down forests, tilling the soil, and—worst of all—burning fossil fuels, we are rapidly approaching a use-it-or-lose-it intelligence test. The outlook is for a higher fever, with droughts that just won't quit. Extreme weather will keep trashing the place. Tipping points will lead to demolition derbies, as when the Amazon or Borneo rain forest burns, or a major city is inundated. Absent effective treatment of climate disease, the students of today will face an unpleasant, chaotic future—not merely hotter summers. Unless we get our act together very quickly—the next ten...
Here is an edited complete video of the flashback "Paris Dream Ballet" from CASABLANCA, THE DANCE as it was premiered in Beijing at "The Great Hall of of the People" in 2005 by my LOS ANGELES DANCE THEATER. I needed to combine two separate videos as the Chinese security guards kept interrupting our videographer so we never got one complete show on tape. The leads are Simona Noja and Giuseppe Picone up until the end of the Grand Pas De Deux (As Time Goes By) and then Marife Gimenez and Douglas Gawriljuk take over the roles of "Rick" and "Ilsa" for the closing pantomime. The excellent new music was by Clyde Allen and the conductor was Allen Lewis.

hey Monday morning,
See what you're missing,
I can't live my life like this boy,
I said hey little lady,
see what you're missing,
I can't get enough of your love,
she goes...out all alone and out on her own (x4),
how many times do,
I have to say this,
your match is a light for me babe,
I said hey little lady,
see what you're missing,
I can't get enough of your love,
she goes...out all alone and out on her own (x4),
all alone (x6),
the people (x3), change the way you live now,
the people (x3), change the way you live now,
hey Monday morning,
see what you're missing,
I can't live my life like this boy,
I said hey little lady,
see what you're missing,
I can't get enough of your love,
she goes...out all alone and out on her own (x4),
all alone (x6),
the people (x3), change the way you live now,
the people (x3), change the way you live now
