Temple University (commonly referred to as Temple) is a comprehensive state-related (formerly private) research university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1884 by Baptist Minister Russell Conwell. Temple University is ranked by the Carnegie Classification of of Institutions of Higher Education as a "Doctoral University: Highest Research Activity" or R1, placing it among the top four percent of all four-year institutions in the nation. In 2013, Temple received over $224 million in research funding, ranking it 94th out of 643 institutions in the NSF’s Higher Education Research and Development Survey.
As of 2014, more than 37,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students are enrolled in over 400 academic degree programs offered at seven campuses and sites in Pennsylvania, and international campuses in Rome, Tokyo, Singapore and London. Temple is among the nation's largest providers of professional education (law, medicine, podiatry, pharmacy, dentistry, and architecture), preparing the largest body of professional practitioners in Pennsylvania.
A temple (from the Latin word templum) is a structure reserved for religious or spiritual activities such as prayer and sacrifice. A templum constituted a sacred precinct as defined by a priest, or augur. It has the same root as the word "template," a plan in preparation of the building that was marked out on the ground by the augur. Templa also became associated with the dwelling places of a god or gods. Despite the specific set of meanings associated with the religion of the ancient Rome, the word has now become quite widely used to describe a house of worship for any number of religions and is even used for time periods prior to the Romans.
Hindu temples are called by many different names, varying on region and language, including mandir, mandira, ambalam, gudi, kavu, koil, kovil, déul, raul, devasthana and devalaya.
Hindu temples are large and magnificent with a rich history. There is evidence of use of sacred ground as far back as the Bronze Age and later the Indus Valley Civilization. However, it was not until Today, Hindu temples have been built in various countries around the world, including India, Nepal, Mauritius, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Great Britain, the United States, Australia, South Africa and Canada.
A university (Latin: universitas, "a whole") is an institution of higher (or tertiary) education and research which grants academic degrees in various subjects and typically provides undergraduate education and postgraduate education. The word "university" is derived from the Latin universitas magistrorum et scholarium, which roughly means "community of teachers and scholars."
The original Latin word "universitas" refers in general to "a number of persons associated into one body, a society, company, community, guild, corporation, etc." At the time of the emergence of urban town life and medieval guilds, specialised "associations of students and teachers with collective legal rights usually guaranteed by charters issued by princes, prelates, or the towns in which they were located" came to be denominated by this general term. Like other guilds, they were self-regulating and determined the qualifications of their members.
In modern usage the word has come to mean "An institution of higher education offering tuition in mainly non-vocational subjects and typically having the power to confer degrees," with the earlier emphasis on its corporate organization considered as applying historically to Medieval universities.

http://www.gobeyondthebrochure.com/Five-Things-I-Wish-I-Knew-About-Temple-University/ - Temple University attracts a ton of people from the Delaware Valley and beyond. Temple has semester abroad and distance learning opportunities, a strong base of commuter students, and multiple campuses, including the main campus in North Philly. Further, it has a Center City campus that sits in the shadow of the William Penn statue atop Philadelphia’s City Hall. As a local guy from the Philly suburbs, I thought I knew everything I needed to know about Temple. Over my four years at Temple, I picked up these tips.

Every year thousands of kids across the country leave home and head off to college campuses to embark on a new journey. So we've decided to head out to some of the hottest colleges and universities across the country and see what different schools are like. Temple Bar is the lively, sometimes rambunctious entertainment district of Dublin, Ireland. When you’re ready to shop, eat, or dance the night away, this is the area of the city you need to frequent. A tour of Temple Bar reveals narrow cobblestone streets, many of them virtually unchanged since medieval times. Despite its seemingly ancient layout, you’ll find a thoroughly modern assortment of restaurants, nightclubs, cafes, and shops taking up residence here. Your Temple Bar sightseeing will no doubt take you to the River Liffey, which runs through Dublin. When you’re ready to explore a little of Ireland’s history, you’ll find the Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship and Famine Museum right on the Liffey. This replica of an 1847 tall ship provides tours of its cramped interiors and offers a glimpse...
So this week we're excited to be exploring Dublin and we're planning to spend an entire week here. This video is going to highlight 25 things to do around the city. Dublin is where most trips in Ireland begin, so before seeing the rest of the country, Audrey and I spent a whole week getting to know the capital. When the weather cooperated we walked around the city, toured Trinity College, and visited the botanical gardens, and when it poured rain as it often does in this part of the world, we just popped into a pub for some Irish stew and a pint of Guinness. The following video will show you a few of the different things to do in Dublin, Ireland. The Temple of Kom Ombo is an unusual double temple in the Egyptian town of Kom Ombo. It stands by the Nile just south of Gebel el-Silsila, between Aswan and Edfu. The building is unique because its 'double' design meant that there were courts, sanctuaries and rooms duplicated for two sets of gods. The southern half of the temple was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, god of fertility. Meanwhile, the northern part of the temple was dedicated to the falcon god Horus the Elder. The temple is a typical because everything is perfectly symmetrical along the main axis. The outer enclosure wall is mud brick but the temple itself is built of local sandstone from the quarry at Gebel el-Silsila. The modern visitor enters by the gate on the eastern side of the outer enclosure wall. Much of the ...
The vast, isolated country of Egypt in the North Eastern corner of African is central to studies of the world’s oldest civilisations. Traveller Megan McCormick begins her journey in the sprawling city of Cairo where the most impressive monuments and fascinating sights and relics can be discovered in the old city. The Bazaar of Khan al-Khalili is a huge market, which has been open for business since the middle ages. Megan learns about herbal medicine from a “doctor’s” clinic and sees craftsmen in the workshops at the bazaar. From here she pays a visit to the mosque at Ibn Tulun; although the site has been Islamic since the mosque was built in the 9th century AD, according to legend this was the spot where Noah’s Arc came to rest and where Moses confronted Pharaoh’s magicians.
