Acoustic music

Acoustic music is music that solely or primarily uses instruments that produce sound through acoustic means, as opposed to electric or electronic means. The retronym "acoustic music" appeared after the advent of electric instruments, such as the electric guitar, electric violin, electric organ and synthesizer.

Performers of acoustic music often increase the volume of their output using electronic amplifiers. However, these amplification devices remain separate from the amplified instrument and reproduce its natural sound accurately. Often a microphone is placed in front of an acoustic instrument which is then wired up to an amplifier.

It has its origins in the folk music of the 1960s. Following the increasing popularity of the television show MTV Unplugged during the 1990s, acoustic (though in most cases still electrically amplified) performances by musicians (most notably grunge bands) who usually rely on electronic instruments became colloquially referred to as "unplugged" performances. The trend has also been dubbed as "acoustic rock" in some cases.

Slow (Kylie Minogue song)

"Slow" is a song recorded by Australian singer Kylie Minogue for her ninth studio album Body Language (2003). It was released as the lead single from the album by Parlophone on 3 November 2003. The song was written by Minogue, Dan Carey, Emilíana Torrini, and produced by Carey, Torrini, and Sunnyroads. "Slow" is a synthpop song in which Minogue invites a man to "slow down" and dance with her.

Upon its release, "Slow" was acclaimed by music critics, many of whom praised Minogue's sensual and seductive vocals. At the 47th Grammy Awards ceremony, the song received a nomination in the category of "Best Dance Recording". Commercially, the song was a success and peaked at number one on the charts of countries like Australia, Denmark, Spain and the United Kingdom. The song also reached number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs in the United States. In Australia, the song was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for sales of 70,000 units.

Slow (DJ)

Slow or DJ Slow (born Vellu Maurola, 1975, in Vantaa, Finland) is a Finnish DJ and music producer. His first encounters with hip hop acts such as Run-DMC, Public Enemy and Eric B & Rakim led him to pursue career in DJing, later making music and remixing others tracks. Slow is known for his nu-jazz style and for his production of commercial music for high-profile projects for advertising, TV, and cinema.

Career

In the year 1990 Slow met JA-Jazz who was also a DJ and worked at the same department store's music department, where Slow worked. With money accrued from his evening job, Slow bought a pair of Technics turntables and good bunch of records.

He participated in the Finnish DMC Mixing Championships and won the contest four years in a row: in 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995. Winning performances were based on strong scratching skills, beatmatching and a little bit of acrobatics. Equipment used was two Technics SL-1200 direct-drive turntables and a DJ mixer and musical styles ranged from hip hop to funk and jazz.

George W. Bush

George Walker Bush (born July 6, 1946) is an American politician and businessman who served as the 43rd President of the United States from 2001 to 2009, and the 46th Governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000. The eldest son of Barbara and George H. W. Bush, he was born in New Haven, Connecticut. After graduating from Yale University in 1968 and Harvard Business School in 1975, he worked in oil businesses. He married Laura Welch in 1977 and ran unsuccessfully for the House of Representatives shortly thereafter. He later co-owned the Texas Rangers baseball team before defeating Ann Richards in the 1994 Texas gubernatorial election. He was elected president in 2000 after a close and controversial election, becoming the fourth president to be elected while receiving fewer popular votes nationwide than his opponent. He is the second president to have been the son of a former president, the first having been John Quincy Adams. He is also the brother of Jeb Bush, who is a former Governor of Florida and candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in the 2016 presidential election.

George W. Bush's chief political strategist was Karl Rove, who had the title Senior Advisor to the President. Mark McKinnon was the chief communications strategist. He was later joined in August 2004 by Karen Hughes, a former Bush advisor who returned after some time away. His campaign manager was Ken Mehlman.

Mega64

Mega64 is a series of comedy skits centered on video games created by Rocco Botte, Derrick Acosta, and Shawn Chatfield. Originally conceived to be a public-access television show, the original five episodes produced were later released on DVD as Mega64: Version 1 in 2004.

Since then, two further DVDs have been released (in 2006 and 2010 respectively) titled Version 2 and Version 3, with six episodes apiece. In addition to these, another two DVDs have been released, comprising sketches and commercials the production crew has created for various gaming companies and websites, including Ubisoft and IGN. Special editions of both Version 1 and Version 2 were released in 2008 and 2011 respectively.

In addition to video production, the Mega64 team host their own podcast, and are responsible for the Gamedays event at Disneyland, a now annual event started in 2010. The event serves as both a meet and greet for the crew and fans and as a popular event to explore the secrets of Disneyland, of which the Mega64 team are renowned fans.
