SK Telecom T1

SK Telecom T1 is a works-team of the South Korean telecommunications company SK Telecom. At the end of 2003, SK Telecom took the StarCraft Team Orion (formerly 4U) by Lim "BoxeR" Yo-Hwan under contract and set up so that the team First. Lim Yo-Hwan took the role of team captain. SK Telecom T1 is part of SK sports, including the baseball team SK Wyverns from Incheon, the basketball team SK Knights in Seoul and Olympic champion Park Tae-Hwan. The team is also sponsored by apparel company New Balance, fast-food restaurant Kraze, and pharmaceutical companies Dong-A and Otsuka. SKT's LoL team, anchored by mid-laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, won the 2013 and 2015 League of Legends World Championships and is considered one of the best players of all time.

Skt or SKT may refer to:

World championship

A world championship is generally an international sports competition open to elite competitors from across the world, representing their nations, and winning such an event will be considered the highest or near highest achievement in the sport or contest.

The title is usually awarded through a combination of specific contests or, less commonly, ranking systems (e.g. the ICC Test Championship), or a combination of the two (e.g. World Triathlon Championships in Triathlon). This determines a 'world champion', who or which is commonly considered the best nation, team, individual (or other entity) in the world in a particular field, although the vagaries of sport ensure that the competitor recognised at the best in an event is not always the 'world champion' (see Underdog).

Certain sports do not have a world championship, instead they may organise a world cup competition, or they may organize both. Often, the use of the term cup or championship in this sense is just a choice of words. Some sports have multiple champions because of multiple organizations such as mixed martial arts, boxing and wrestling.

SK Telecom

SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (Hangul: SK텔레콤 or 에스케이텔레콤) is a South Korean wireless telecommunications operator, it is part of the SK Group, one of the country's largest chaebols.

SK Telecom is South Korea's largest wireless carrier, it leads the local market with 50.5 percent share as of 2008. Since its creation in 1984, the company has evolved from a first generation analog cellular system, to second generation CDMA, then to the world's first third-generation synchronized IMT-2000 cellular system. SK Telecom also became the world’s first carrier to commercialize HSDPA in May 2006. SK expanded into the landline market by acquiring second-rated fixed-line operator Hanaro Telecom in February 2008.

The company’s online brands include "Nate," a web portal; "June," a mobile multimedia service; "Moneta," an e-banking mobile app; "Nate Drive," a telematics service and "Digital Home," an online interface to remote-control household appliances.

Online services are offered through tech subsidiary SK Communications, which also dominates the social networks market in South Korea. "Cyworld" is the largest social media site by membership and "NateOn" is the number one instant messaging client.

KT Rolster

KT Rolster is a South Korean multi-gaming organization founded in 1999 with Korean Telecom as the head sponsor. A member of the Korean e-Sports Association, KT Rolster holds one of the richest and most successful StarCraft teams in the world, as well as the most successful League of Legends teams in Korea. The StarCraft team has fielded several legendary players throughout the pro-gaming scenes of StarCraft: Brood War and StarCraft II, such as Flash, Nal rA, YellOw, NaDa, NesTea, Reach, Life, TY and Zest.

History

When the organization was created in 1999 it consisted solely of a StarCraft team which was named KTF n016 Progame Team after the head sponsor, Korean Telecom Freetel. In 2001 the team was renamed KTF MagicNs. When the sponsor merged with Korean Telecom the gaming-organization subsequently went through several name changes and eventually ended up as KT Rolster (short for "Roller Coaster") in August 2009. The team transitioned to Starcraft II during the hybrid 2011-2012 Proleague Season 2.
