Me han pedido que aumente un poco la parte del conocimiento crítico. Imagínate que llevas puestas unas gafas con los cristales tintados. Toda la realidad la verás de otro color debido al efecto de esas gafas ¿verdad? Bueno, pues ahora imagínate que esas gafas están de serie en tu mente. Tú tienes una determinada estructura cognitiva, a lo que yo denomino molde, que es lo que te permite ver la realidad así. Kant afirma que existen unas formas trascendentales, que no dependen de la experiencia, y que son a priori, por lo tanto, que actuarán como un "molde" al que se tienen que someter los datos recibidos por la sensibilidad y los conceptos formados por el entendimiento. De este modo, la sensibilidad y el entendimiento se convierten en agentes configuradores de la realidad.
Como siempre digo, estos materiales son un complemento educativo que de ninguna manera puede sustituir vuestros libros o las enseñanzas de vuestros profes.

Kant famously claims that we have synthetic apriori knowledge. Indeed, this claim is absolutely central to all of his philosophy. But what is synthetic apriori knowledge? Scott Edgar helpfully breaks-down this category of knowledge by first walking through Kant's distinction between empirical and apriori knowledge and then his distinction between analytic and synthetic judgments. The interaction between these distinctions is then illustrated with numerous examples, making it clear why Kant, unlike Hume, thought that there is knowledge that is both apriori and synthetic and that this is the type of knowledge philosophers seek.

Bryan Magee and Geoffrey Warnock discuss the German philosopher Immanuel Kant, who is considered the central figure in modern philosophy. Kant synthesized early rationalism and empiricism, set the terms for much of 19th and 20th century philosophy, and continues to exercise a significant influence today in epistemology, ontology, ethics, political philosophy, aesthetics, and other fields. Kant is famous for many ideas, including his distinction between appearances and things-in-themselves, and that the basic categories of the mind structure experience. He had argued that we can only know things as they appear and come to us through our sensory and mental faculties, not how they are in themselves independent of us and our mental apparatus. Among other things, this allowed for the possibility of synthetic a priori knowledge, i.e. necessary and substantial truths that are about the world but which are not derived from the world. He is also famous for deontology in moral philosophy, especially his notion of the categorical imperative, and that reason is the ultimate source of morality. He also famously maintained that aesthetics is based on a faculty of disinterested judgment.
This interview was part of a BBC program from 1987. It's not the best interview in my opinion, but it's still worth checking out. Unfortunately, the quality is kind of shitty, but the audio and video should at least stay in sync. I didn't think I'd be putting so many of these Bryan Magee interviews up, especially since they're already on Youtube, but they're just so good.

Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant (/kænt/;German: [ɪˈmaːnu̯eːl kant]; 22 April 1724 – 12 February 1804) was a German philosopher who is considered the central figure of modern philosophy. Kant argued that fundamental concepts of the human mind structure human experience, that reason is the source of morality, that aesthetics arises from a faculty of disinterested judgment, that space and time are forms of our sensibility, and that the world as it is "in-itself" is unknowable. Kant took himself to have affected a Copernican revolution in philosophy, akin to Copernicus' reversal of the age-old belief that the sun revolved around the earth. His beliefs continue to have a major influence on contemporary philosophy, especially the fields of metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, political theory, and aesthetics.
Kant in his critical phase sought to 'reverse' the orientation of pre-critical philosophy by showing how the traditional problems of metaphysics can be overcome by supposing that the agreement between reality and the concepts we use to conceive it arises not because our mental concepts have come to passively mirror reality, but because reality must conform to the human mind's active concepts to be conceivable and at all possible for us to experience. Kant thus regarded the basic categories of the human mind as the transcendental "condition of possibility" for any experience.

Crash Course
Crash Course (also known as Driving Academy) is a 1988 made for television teen film directed by Oz Scott.
Plot
Crash Course centers on a group of high schoolers in a driver’s education class; many for the second or third time. The recently divorced teacher, super-passive Larry Pearl, is on thin ice with the football fanatic principal, Principal Paulson, who is being pressured by the district superintendent to raise driver’s education completion rates or lose his coveted football program. With this in mind, Principal Paulson and his assistant, with a secret desire for his job, Abner Frasier, hire an outside driver’s education instructor with a very tough reputation, Edna Savage, aka E.W. Savage, who quickly takes control of the class.
The plot focuses mostly on the students and their interactions with their teachers and each other. In the beginning, Rico is the loner with just a few friends, Chadley is the bookish nerd with few friends who longs to be cool and also longs to be a part of Vanessa’s life who is the young, friendly and attractive girl who had to fake her mother’s signature on her driver’s education permission slip. Kichi is the hip-hop Asian kid who often raps what he has to say and constantly flirts with Maria, the rich foreign girl who thinks that the right-of-way on the roadways always goes to (insert awesomely fake foreign Latino accent) “my father’s limo”. Finally you have stereotypical football meathead J.J., who needs to pass his English exam to keep his eligibility and constantly asks out and gets rejected by Alice, the tomboy whose father owns “Santini & Son” Concrete Company. Alice is portrayed as being the “son” her father wanted.

Plot: When Vera Rohleder wants to meet her husband Bernhard at the airport where he should arrive from Moscow, she is not successful. Later she is told that Bernhard died in a tragic traffic accident. She flies over to Moscow to identify the corpse, but the dead man shown to her doesn't seem to be her husband. When she tries to find out what really happened she gets to meet Andrej Bubka, a Moscow militia officer, who also looks for her husband. Vera cannot believe what Bubka tells her about the reasons why her husband has disappeared.

Me han pedido que aumente un poco la parte del conocimiento crítico. Imagínate que llevas puestas unas gafas con los cristales tintados. Toda la realidad la verás de otro color debido al efecto de esas gafas ¿verdad? Bueno, pues ahora imagínate que esas gafas están de serie en tu mente. Tú tienes una determinada estructura cognitiva, a lo que yo denomino molde, que es lo que te permite ver la realidad así. Kant afirma que existen unas formas trascendentales, que no dependen de la experiencia, y que son a priori, por lo tanto, que actuarán como un "molde" al que se tienen que someter los datos recibidos por la sensibilidad y los conceptos formados por el entendimiento. De este modo, la sensibilidad y el entendimiento se convierten en agentes configuradores de la realidad.
Como siempre digo, estos materiales son un complemento educativo que de ninguna manera puede sustituir vuestros libros o las enseñanzas de vuestros profes.

Kant famously claims that we have synthetic apriori knowledge. Indeed, this claim is absolutely central to all of his philosophy. But what is synthetic apriori knowledge? Scott Edgar helpfully breaks-down this category of knowledge by first walking through Kant's distinction between empirical and apriori knowledge and then his distinction between analytic and synthetic judgments. The interaction between these distinctions is then illustrated with numerous examples, making it clear why Kant, unlike Hume, thought that there is knowledge that is both apriori and synthetic and that this is the type of knowledge philosophers seek.

Bryan Magee and Geoffrey Warnock discuss the German philosopher Immanuel Kant, who is considered the central figure in modern philosophy. Kant synthesized early rationalism and empiricism, set the terms for much of 19th and 20th century philosophy, and continues to exercise a significant influence today in epistemology, ontology, ethics, political philosophy, aesthetics, and other fields. Kant is famous for many ideas, including his distinction between appearances and things-in-themselves, and that the basic categories of the mind structure experience. He had argued that we can only know things as they appear and come to us through our sensory and mental faculties, not how they are in themselves independent of us and our mental apparatus. Among other things, this allowed for the possibility of synthetic a priori knowledge, i.e. necessary and substantial truths that are about the world but which are not derived from the world. He is also famous for deontology in moral philosophy, especially his notion of the categorical imperative, and that reason is the ultimate source of morality. He also famously maintained that aesthetics is based on a faculty of disinterested judgment.
This interview was part of a BBC program from 1987. It's not the best interview in my opinion, but it's still worth checking out. Unfortunately, the quality is kind of shitty, but the audio and video should at least stay in sync. I didn't think I'd be putting so many of these Bryan Magee interviews up, especially since they're already on Youtube, but they're just so good.

Bryan Magee and Geoffrey Warnock discuss the German philosopher Immanuel Kant, who is considered the central figure in modern philosophy. Kant synthesized early rationalism and empiricism, set the terms for much of 19th and 20th century philosophy, and continues to exercise a significant influence today in epistemology, ontology, ethics, political philosophy, aesthetics, and other fields. Kant is famous for many ideas, including his distinction between appearances and things-in-themselves, and that the basic categories of the mind structure experience. He had argued that we can only know things as they appear and come to us through our sensory and mental faculties, not how they are in themselves independent of us and our mental apparatus. Among other things, this allowed for the possibility of synthetic a priori knowledge, i.e. necessary and substantial truths that are about the world but which are not derived from the world. He is also famous for deontology in moral philosophy, especially his notion of the categorical imperative, and that reason is the ultimate source of morality. He also famously maintained that aesthetics is based on a faculty of disinterested judgment.
This interview was part of a BBC program from 1987. It's not the best interview in my opinion, but it's still worth checking out. Unfortunately, the quality is kind of shitty, but the audio and video should at least stay in sync. I didn't think I'd be putting so many of these Bryan Magee interviews up, especially since they're already on Youtube, but they're just so good.

In the heat of a triple-digit summer day while sitting among my fellow squatters enjoying the coolness of an air-conditioning wireless Internet-coffee shop in San Antonio, a man approaches the table. Introducing himself as Larry, the middle-aged man began to tell a tale of being on a trek, riding his bicycle from city to city across the country. His story appears interesting, compelling and possibly newsworthy.
Searching for signs that resemble patterns of the Ralph B. Potter Box model of reasoning, I decidedly perform the process description in conducting a moral analysis of a present ethical situation. Investigation of the analysis began by attempting to define the situation by gathering facts. The authors of Media Ethics indicate after assembling all the information about any given situation, it is an ethical obligation to consider the adverse cultural and historical aspects of the story, before publishing using pre-conceived bias judgment-based values of personal principles and ideology of loyalties. Ideally, journalist first allegiance is to the public, then society and organization, but mostly they must remain loyal to truth. Was he who he claimed to be? Was there any validity to his story? I couldn’t find any reason he might lie.
Meet Larry, a 40 plus year old, 6-foot plus, Anglo-American with light colored eyes and hair, who after hours of observations and communication never clearly reveals the reason he’s attempting such a dangerous adventure. I can only personally make presumptions basing on his determination, consistency, and spontaneity. However, journalists and the Potter Box work solely with provable facts, before assigning bias judgment based on one of the 5-principles from the greatest philosophers in time.
Examination of the 5-principles the authors describes and establishes that the ideologies of Aristotle, Confucius, Immanuel Kant, John Rawls and John Stuart Mill are merely guidelines to ethical resolve. Larry’s story is compelling because if he successfully completes the trip, it illustrates that hard work, endurance and stamina of a middle-aged American man pays-off.
It was Saturday, September the 3rd and the 40 to 59-year old cyclists was present when I arrived with my camera that late afternoon. My 2005 professional first generation high-definition (HD) camera must have intimidated the man, fearing something about recording on-camera. Being a resourceful journalist, I convinced Larry to allow me to use my I-phone film camera to record the interview, and then ask him to tell his story. After making the I-phone recording, I showed the footage to Larry. While he didn’t have any problem with what he said on the recording, he asks not to post any footage on the Internet until the end of his journey. Before continuing with the interview using a professional camera, Larry wanted to postpone the interview once again in order to prepare his thoughts (rehearse) overnight. He agreed to meet at the coffee shop at 5:30 Sunday morning.
Although the probability of success is only one possible outcome, out of many more not so successful outcomes, the story is in the attempt. Imagine the anecdotes of calamity the story could provide as the adventure survives disasters and mishaps, possibly ending in Larry’s demise. People usually have a reason for telling a story to a journalist, mostly in an act of hubris for notoriety or agenda exposure rather than altruistic causes. Larry’s reason remains vague.
Was I obligated to make this meeting? I intentionally set my alarm for 5 in the morning, but was not motivated to get up and conduct an interview I should have had the day before. I choose not to go. My excuse for not attending his sendoff was rationalized after realizing I already have a recording from the 2nd appointment, I felt no obligation to meet Larry due to his inability and indecision to participate. This is not how journalism works.
Larry’s first excuse was, let’s wait to do this tomorrow, and then the excuse is, I want to practice what I’m going to say. Because of his inability to make a decision, I decided to immediately record the interview with an Apple I-phone 3G-S. Who is to say whether the interview was quickly changing into a practice speech, where Larry might only speak of his positive interpretation of the adventure, instead of conducting an impromptu honest transparent conversation? News doesn’t mean, practice your story, and when ready, call and we’ll bring the cameras over. Of course, I may be mistaken. My powers of observation may have been distorted.
Was Larry’s situation a question of ethics or integrity, could it be analyzed using a Potter Box process? Granted this ethical dilemma was nowhere on the scale of a Presidential debacle , reclaiming stolen land, exposing ethnic cleansing, or a matter of discovering corporate atrocities using covert infiltra

Examination of the 5-principles the authors describes and establishes that the ideologies of Aristotle, Confucius, Immanuel Kant, John Rawls and John Stuart Mill are merely guidelines to ethical resolve. Larry’s story is compelling because if he successfully completes the trip, it illustrates that hard work, endurance and stamina of a middle-aged American man pays-off.
It was Saturday, September the 3rd and the 40 to 59-year old cyclists was present when I arrived with my camera that late afternoon. My 2005 professional first generation high-definition (HD) camera must have intimidated the man, fearing something about recording on-camera. Being a resourceful journalist, I convinced Larry to allow me to use my I-phone film camera to record the interview, and then ask him to tell his story. After making the I-phone recording, I showed the footage to Larry. While he didn’t have any problem with what he said on the recording, he asks not to post any footage on the Internet until the end of his journey. Before continuing with the interview using a professional camera, Larry wanted to postpone the interview once again in order to prepare his thoughts (rehearse) overnight. He agreed to meet at the coffee shop at 5:30 Sunday morning.
Although the probability of success is only one possible outcome, out of many more not so successful outcomes, the story is in the attempt. Imagine the anecdotes of calamity the story could provide as the adventure survives disasters and mishaps, possibly ending in Larry’s demise. People usually have a reason for telling a story to a journalist, mostly in an act of hubris for notoriety or agenda exposure rather than altruistic causes. Larry’s reason remains vague.
Was I obligated to make this meeting? I intentionally set my alarm for 5 in the morning, but was not motivated to get up and conduct an interview I should have had the day before. I choose not to go. My excuse for not attending his sendoff was rationalized after realizing I already have a recording from the 2nd appointment, I felt no obligation to meet Larry due to his inability and indecision to participate. This is not how journalism works.
Larry’s first excuse was, let’s wait to do this tomorrow, and then the excuse is, I want to practice what I’m going to say. Because of his inability to make a decision, I decided to immediately record the interview with an Apple I-phone 3G-S. Who is to say whether the interview was quickly changing into a practice speech, where Larry might only speak of his positive interpretation of the adventure, instead of conducting an impromptu honest transparent conversation? News doesn’t mean, practice your story, and when ready, call and we’ll bring the cameras over. Of course, I may be mistaken. My powers of observation may have been distorted.
Was Larry’s situation a question of ethics or integrity, could it be analyzed using a Potter Box process? Granted this ethical dilemma was nowhere on the scale of a Presidential debacle , reclaiming stolen land, exposing ethnic cleansing, or a matter of discovering corporate atrocities using covert infiltra
