Ruhe

Ruhe (English: Silence or peace) is the third single from the 1999 Schiller debut album Zeitgeist with vocals by an unknown woman and an unknown man and spoken word passages by German actor and voice actor Benjamin Völz (* 13. Mai 1960), who became famous in the German-speaking countries as the voice of FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder from the X-Files. The song is titled internationally as "Peace". The trance music single was officially released on 29 November 1999 in Germany and was peaking at number 24 on German Singles Chart in 1999 and at number 69 in Switzerland. The cover art work shows a graphic of an empty box.

The album version (Langspiel-Fassung) and the single and TV version (Fernseh-Fassung) of Ruhe are unlike versions with completely different music. Only the spoken words are the same. The spoken words of the song are including the poem "Über die Einsamkeit" by Swiss philosophical writer Johann Georg Zimmermann (1728-1795). The poem is:

Mr. Oizo

Mr. Oizo (French: [məsˈjø waˈzo]; born 14 April 1974) is the stage name of French electronic musician and film director Quentin Dupieux. His pseudonym is a corruption of the French oiseau, meaning "bird". He is currently signed to Ed Banger Records and Brainfeeder.

Early life

Quentin Dupieux was born on 14 April 1974 in Paris. At the age of 12, he found a camera and started taking photographs. At 17, he began to play music to illustrate his images, and he bought his first synthesizer. In 1997, Laurent Garnier of the record label FCom bought a car from Mr. Oizo's father. Garnier then found out about Dupieux's talents and let him direct the music video for his song "Flashback". Later, Dupieux was signed to FCom, which he released his first EP, "#1".

"Flat Beat"

Dupieux released "Flat Beat" in January 1999, a track consisting mainly of a repeated bass loop and a drum sample from "Put Your Love in My Tender Care" by The Fatback Band. In an interview with XLR8R magazine, Dupieux stated that it took him only two hours with a Korg MS-20 to produce. However, Flat Beat became a hit throughout Europe in 1999, becoming the best-known Mr. Oizo release. The track was featured in a series of Levi's jeans TV commercials, which featured a yellow puppet named Flat Eric nodding his head to the rhythm while riding in an old, beat-up car. Flat Eric was also featured in the song's music video. The Flat Beat EP has sold over three million copies. The song reached number 1 in the UK.

Mare Tranquillitatis

Mare Tranquillitatis (Latin for Sea of Tranquility or Sea of Tranquillity (see spelling differences)) is a lunar mare that sits within the Tranquillitatis basin on the Moon. The mare material within the basin consists of basalt formed in the intermediate to young age group of the Upper Imbrian epoch. The surrounding mountains are thought to be of the Lower Imbrian epoch, but the actual basin is probably Pre-Nectarian. The basin has irregular margins and lacks a defined multiple-ringed structure. The irregular topography in and near this basin results from the intersection of the Tranquillitatis, Nectaris, Crisium, Fecunditatis, and Serenitatis basins with two throughgoing rings of the Procellarum basin. Palus Somni, on the northeastern rim of the mare, is filled with the basalt that spilled over from Tranquillitatis.

This Mare has a slight bluish tint relative to the rest of the moon and stands out quite well when color is processed and extracted from multiple photographs. The color is likely due to higher metal content in the basaltic soil or rocks.

Anouk Kruithof

Anouk Kruithof (born 1981, Dordrecht, the Netherlands) is a Dutch artist whose exhibitions and books merge social, conceptual, photographic, performance and video. She is best known for her artist's book Happy Birthday to You. Kruithof has had published, or self-published, a number of books of her work, which has also been exhibited in various solo and group shows including at Museum of Modern Art in New York. She has received an Infinity Award from the International Center of Photography; both the Photography Jury Grand Prize and the Photo Global scholarship from Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival, and the Charlotte Köhler Prize from Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. She is based in New York.

Life and work

Kruithof studied photography at the Academy of Art and Design St. Joost, based in Breda. She completed an artist's residency at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin in 2008–2009. In 2011 she moved to New York to live and work on her projects.

Her book Happy Birthday to You was praised by Martin Parr and her book A Head with Wings was praised by critic Jörg Colberg.
