Andrei Arsenyevich Tarkovsky (Russian: Андре́й Арсе́ньевич Тарко́вский; IPA: [ɐnˈdrʲej ɐrˈsʲenʲjɪvʲɪtɕ tɐrˈkofskʲɪj]; 4 April 1932 – 29 December 1986) was a Soviet and Russian film-maker, writer, film editor, film theorist, theatre and opera director.
Tarkovsky's films include Ivan's Childhood (1962), Andrei Rublev (1966), Solaris (1972), Mirror (1975), and Stalker (1979). He directed the first five of his seven feature films in the Soviet Union; his last two films, Nostalghia (1983) and The Sacrifice (1986), were produced in Italy and Sweden, respectively. His work is characterized by long takes, unconventional dramatic structure, distinctly authored use of cinematography, and spiritual and metaphysical themes. His contribution to cinema was so influential that works done in a similar way are described as Tarkovskian.
Ingmar Bergman said of Tarkovsky:
Tarkovsky was born in the village of Zavrazhye in the Yuryevetsky District of the Ivanovo Industrial Oblast to poet and translator Arseny Alexandrovich Tarkovsky, native of Kirovohrad, Ukraine; and Maria Ivanova Vishnyakova, a graduate of the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute. Andrei's grandfather Aleksander Tarkowski was a Polish nobleman who worked as a bank clerk.
Andrey or Andrei (in Cyrillic script: Андрей or Андрэй) is the Russian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Macedonian, Serbian, Finnish, Estonian or Belarusian form of Andrew. Notable people with the name include:
Carla's Dreams is a Moldovan musical project which was started by Andrei Țăruș in 2012. The band is an anonymous group of singers and composers who sing in Romanian, Russian and English. During concerts, the band's vocalist, to hide his identity, wears hood and sunglasses, and his face is masked.
Established in Chișinău, Carla's Dreams combines several musical styles, including hip hop, jazz, rock and pop. The first song produced by Carla's Dreams was Dă-te ("Get Off"). Carla's Dreams has launched in Romania in 2013, along with Inna with the song P.O.H.U.I., later to sing with Loredana Lumea mea ("My World"), and in 2015 with Delia, releasing songs Cum ne noi ("How We Do") and Da, mamă ("Yes, Mother").
The Deepside Deejays are a Romanian band formed in 2008 by Victor de la Pena and Dave Pryce.
Deepside Deejays is a Romanian band formed in 2008. They were among the first Romanian house music projects that along with David Deejay and INNA invented and sustained the “popcorn” style phenomenon . Even from the kick-off, their music was the result of a vast behind the scenes experience, as songwriters and music producers and even as performers in past projects. So Deepside Deejays wasn’t about to be a one-hit wonder, it was created for the long run with a strategy that relied solely on music. They put their money where their mouth was and they came up with an original sound that took the music industry by surprise.
With a classical education given by the finest Music Universities in the country, the guys had a deep understanding of music that was completed, after many years of studio experience, by the always-necessary know-how. In the 6 years since Deepside Deejays were founded, they have released 50 remixes (of big-name tracks like Thomas Gold, Martin Solveig, John Dahlback, Ian Carey, Soul Avengerz, The Good Guys and many more) and 21 original tracks, achieving commercial success even from their first single. “Beautiful Days” was a hit both nationally and internationally, in countries such as India, Dubai, Egypt, or Morocco. It peaked at No. 1 position in Poland, Morocco, India, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Malta, reached top ten in Sweden, Norway and reached top 20 in French and German dance charts.

Plot: In 1941, three men reach India from Tibet, having walked 4000 miles after escaping a Siberian gulag. The film tells their story and that of four others who escaped with them and a teenage girl who joins them in flight. The group's natural leader is Janusz, a Pole condemned by accusations secured by torturing his wife; he knows how to live in the wilds. They escape under cover of a snowstorm: a cynical American, a Russian thug, a comic accountant, a pastry chef who draws, a priest, and a Pole with night blindness. They face freezing nights, lack of food and water, mosquitoes, an endless desert, the Himalayas, and moral questions of when to leave someone behind.

The next day, Philip takes Andrei away from the office on an odyssey into a space that is charged with spirituality and homoeroticism. Philip is no businessman, and the disclosure of who he really is forces Andrei into a series of choices that involve Natasha, Nina, belief, and love.

For Tarkovsky, water is a mystical substance, each molecule of which is very filmable; it can render a certain action, the sense of changeability, continuity of motion.
From drops, to rain, to rivers, to an oceanic planet, Andrei Tarkovsky creates poetic images using water as his main element. Music: Eduard Artemev from the OST of Mirror and Stalker

Clip from the documentary "A Poet in the Cinema: Andrey Tarkovsky" (Un Poeta nel Cinema: Andrej Tarkovskij, 1984, Donatella Baglivo)
In 1983 while in Italy prepping for "Nostalghia", Andrei Tarkovsky and writer Tonino Guerra shot "Voyage in Time", a 63 minute documentary that screened at Cannes' Un Certain Regard in 1995. Asked by an Italian 'fan' what advise he would give to young filmmakers, Tarkovsky gave two advices.

John Akomfrah: ‘The question of discourse is absolutely central’ The artist explains the inspirations for his new split-screen film, Auto da Fé, and talks about the importance of the Black Audio Film Collective, of which he was a founding member [video1] For the past three decades, Ghanaian-born British director, writer and theorist John Akomfrah has been highlighting the legacy of African diaspora in Europe by creating films that explore marginalised histories of European society. Having looked a lot at causality, he now feels drawn to shift his gaze to simultaneity, and his new split-screen film work, Auto da Fé, on show as part of the Artes Mundi 7 exhibition in Cardiff, looks at displacement as a result of religious persecution and what it’s like to live life with the precarity of...

Maria Beikou led a life like no other, and lived to tell her tale. In 2010 I had the pleasure of filming an interview with Beikou by journalist Kostas Vaxevanis. The stories revealed by Beikou on camera were diverse to the point of absurd. Of communist affiliation and a soldier in the Greek civil war, Maria Beikou was granted asylum in the USSR where she remained for the following 25 years. She was the Voice of Greece on the Russian shortwave radio broadcast "Here Greece" from Moscow. She fell in love with and married Georgoulas Beikou, a charismatic figure in the Greek civil war. When her association with her husband put her life in danger Beikou pleaded for asylum with the Greek Government, she was finally admitted back to the land of her birth. Beikou also recounts her co-directo...
During the Camerimage Film Festival in Bydgoszcz, Poland I had a chance to film a meeting of several eminent film critics from the American Cinematographer Magazine and some of the world most renowned cinematographers, such as Vadim Yusov (who used to work with Andrei Tarkovsky), Edward Lachman, and Jerzy Zieliński. At first I intended it to be just for my personal use. I hand held the camera all the time (I was carrying this camera to every event I could possibly attend as a viewer) so the image is a bit shaky at times, but I hope one can still enjoy watching this remarkable filmmaker share his precious knowledge and expertise.

The sweetest honey to the brightest flower
The largest planet to the smallest atom
Snowflakes and the bird kingdom
Smaller thatn the eye can see bigger then the mind can conceive
Heard a man on the radio today
(Spoken)I mean I'm not going to believe in anything that I can't see and I've
been through a lot of hardships in my life ya know ya know in my life
Must confess I disagreed with what he had to say
How he could he not believe that God is real
I don't understand how
He could feel that way
When there's earth, air, water, and fire
So many different flowers
Sunshine and rain showers
So many different crystals
And hills and volcanoes
Chorus
That's how I know that God is real
All of this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
All of this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
I know this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
That's how I know that God is real
In St. Lucia I jumped in the water
(Spoken)It was like I was seeing it for the first time. It literally changed
my life.
For the first time I understood its power
As I swam I was cleansed
If I had any doubts
This experience cleared them
Now I know for sure that GOd is real
I know that it's the truth
By the way it feels
Cause I saw starfish and sponges
Fish shaped like trumpets
So many different colors
I stayed out there for hours and I only saw a fraction of a fraction of the
deepest of the deep of the great blue wide
It brought a tear to my eye
Chorus
That's how I know that God is real
All of this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
All of this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
I know this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
We're made of the same stuff
As the moon and the stars
The oceans saltwater just like my tears are
You feel me
The sunrises and sets everyday without fail
Chorus
That's how I know that God is real
All of this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
All of this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
I know this is not by chance
That's how I know that God is real
