In video technology, 24p refers to a video format that operates at 24 frames per second (typically, 23.976 frames/s when using equipment based on NTSC frame rates) frame rate with progressive scanning (not interlaced). Originally, 24p was used in the non-linear editing of film-originated material. Today, 24p formats are being increasingly used for aesthetic reasons in image acquisition, delivering film-like motion characteristics. Some vendors advertise 24p products as a cheaper alternative to film acquisition.
When working entirely within the digital non-linear domain, 24p material is more easily handled than material of higher frame rates. 24p material requires care when it is processed using equipment designed for standard video frame rates.
There are two common workflows for processing 24p material using video equipment, one using PAL frame rates, and the other using NTSC frame rates. Of these two, the PAL route is the simpler, but each has its own complications.

24p is often sold as a magical button that will transform video into film. It won't. 24p is merely one small and relatively unimportant part of "The Film Look" and this video graphically presents the definitive argument proving that 24p video doesn't automatically look like film... but it also makes a decisive argument (or two) for shooting 24p anyhow. http://videopia.org

SONY a6300 花桃の里2016 昨日天気が良かったのでSONY α6300を持って長野県阿智村にある花桃の里に行ってきました。例年この時期に訪れるのですが、今年は暖かかったせいか満開を過ぎて花の発色が今ひとつでした。 レンズはSONYの安価なズームレンズであるSELP18105Gの1本だけを持参し、それをPilotfly H2 3軸ブラシレスジンバルに搭載しました。このレンズとα6300の組み合わせには可能性を感じています。 日中での撮影だったので、やはり背面液晶は見づらく外部モニターの必要性を強く感じました。あと、ジンバルで持参したのが両手ハンドルではなく今回シングルハンドルでしたので、いつもよりは自由度の低いカメラワークにとどまりました。2ハンドルでSHOGUN FLAMEのような外部モニターがあればきっとより滑らかで作画意図の反映された映像になったかと思います。これは今後の課題ですね。 編集は今回MacBook Proで行ったため、エンコードやその他編集に時間がかかったため手の込んだコマ割りや構成などは行う余裕がありませんでした。構成など今ひとつですが、それでもこのカメラの解像感やジンバルの安定感や活用例をご覧頂ければ幸いです。 <撮影機材> SONY ミラーレス一眼 α6300 ボディ ILCE-6300 http://amzn.to/1W39Dvo SONY E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS※Eマウント用レンズ(APS-Cサイズ用) SELP18105G http://amzn.to/1W39xnt Pilotfly H2 stabilizer
24p playback in slow motion on a 120Hz TV. Each frame gets exactly displayed 1/24 per second, instead of varying between 2/60 and 3/60. The difference is really subtle in real time. The new sony a6300 does the full sensor readout only in super 35 mode...so for 4k only in 24 or 25p...in 30p there is a larger crop and no 6k-readout-downscale-to-4k and technically the picture quality should suffer from that...for me I don´t see that much of a dirfferent...except the larger crop.
